Actually, Flea, River, and some other people were supposed to play a song at the Viper Room (this was in 1993, "Transcending" was in 1995.) But River was preoccupied with finding drugs, so he fell on the sidewalk outside, Flea went with him in the ambulance, but it was too late...

ohm is a great album. its funny how people think that this album doesnt sound like rhcp. i cant believe ppl dont see that dave was trying to play like the chili peppers (sort of like how when john joined the band he was playing like hillel). if you listen to janes addiction the guitar sounds nothing like how he plays on ohm. of course theyre style is gonna change a bit, but this album is funky as ever.

I love John and all, but I found it very narrow-minded when he said that this album was made mainly because the band was on a contract. I don't think the Peppers would write a tribute to Phoenix just because of a recording-deal.

It's not that commercial; most songs had personal meanings to them. "Warped," "Aeroplane," and "Coffee Shop" talks about Anthony's drug problems. "My Friends" is about Flea's depression at the time. "Tearjerker" is about Cobain. "Deep Kick" is a lookback at Anthony's and Flea's childhoods. The album does have meaning, but it's just not the best in most people's ears (I like the album, but I respect your opinion.)

OHM is a great album, it's just different and qI keep hearing and reading stuff criticizing badly and stupidly this piece of hart. Come on, recognize the talent of Navarro, he's different from your John, but he's written great songs on OHM.
