@ascrapoffabulous you can also get the Big shot from a Stamp N' Up Demonstrator... they have different dies but more of the Sizzix die work with it too...
I think any kind of synthetic material can be used. Just be careful at first when trying one out. Maybe just take a small swatch and check to see how it burns. Thanks for watching!

The cutter is called a Big Shot. It is by Sizzix. You can get one online at Joanns...That is where I got mine. I used a 50% off coupon too :)
