The description isn't really accurate, is it? Highland Cathedral is considered mainly secular, having no lyrics normally - it's certainly not a hymn.

Ok...I´ll try it ;-)! Ok...this melody was composed by German musicians Ulrich Roever and Michael Korb in 1982 for a Highland games held in Germany. It has been proposed as the Scottish national anthem to replace unofficial anthems Scotland the Brave and/or Flower of Scotland. It has subsequently undergone various orchestrations and had lyrics added in English and in Scottish Gaelic

Glasgow...my daughter used this very recording as her processional march at her wedding in 2003. I was simply searching U-tube for different kinds of music and ran across this (I never knew the title or artist)!

A great day in our family's lives...and now with three grandchildren, soon to be four, the marriage is working out great! The song still creates a grand tremor of emotion. Thanks!

Secondly, I think Flower of Scotland is a beautiful song. Ok, so it's outdated and non P.C. (with it's talk of ruthlessness and barbarity)...

But then so is Amhrán na bhFiann (Ire '26 - present), God Save Ireland (Ire '19 to '26), Das Deutschlandlied (Ger) and even God Save the Queen (Eng).

Thirdly, your right. Who cares who wrote Highland Cathedral?! It's beautiful! Though Phil's version is THE BEST... BY FAR :-p:-p

Sorry Kieran, but I agree with Cameron. Had this been written by Burns or another Scottish poet, I would fight for this to be made the National Anthem, but as much as it is a fantastic tune, I'd leave Scotland if it was made the Anthem.

The first time I heard this beautiful song was on the TV during an awful German carnival.

A group from I think Cologne made it vocal somehow.

It haunted me for so long until I finally found out where it came from and then came Phil!!!

I emailed phil coulter and he said he didnt compose it but that Uli Roever and Michael Korb did and is published by ISA Music. You dont happen to know if a pianist can adapt pipe music? im not sure, I thought i would ask incase you could help. xoxox
