Compared to literally any other portable computer, sewing machine sized or smaller, this was amazing. A GUI, a crisp monitor with graphics for *everything,* proper sound, enough power for CAD and desktop publishing too. Too bad it was more expensive than a basic commuter car and weighed a tremendous amount thanks to its car-style battery.

My company in California (PARC) was networked in 1973 using the Xerox Alto which used a GUI or (mouse) Whatever you would type on the Alto is exactly what was laser printed on paper! We loved it!
