Funny ... the question related to Squeak/Smalltalk seems best answered in the fact that the approach Smalltalk took would be best served by the browser model.
The questions were so harsh, I wouldn't want to be in their place. Dan expected questions like "show me more of this, show me more of that" and all he got was "This will never go mainstream for reasons a, b and c". Felt sorry for them, I'd really would like this kind of thing to be largely adopted.
As everything SUN does, has no theorical background... just to guys goofing arond, having fun, and producing only buggy unuseful soft... the dont know were are they going, don´t know what the dam thing is good for... no f** idea of a business model... hey guys, go to work and read a little bit before you make a public ridiculous...
@esepecesito Yes well, if certain people didn't aimlessly goof around, we would not have many of the cool innovative things that we take for granted right now. It is always possible to refine and hone technology toward specific ends after development. The systems that are currently in place may have started out the same way.
I've talked to Dan before, many times. Google is evil, and big, and aweful. Dan is nice, kind and trying to keep things easy and simple. Squeak, squeak in a browser, or otherwise is what it is... a simple easy prototype environment. Dan should have bitch slapped the Google prick, oh wait, their all pricks :)
It's not just a software development and dynamic web authoring tool; self supported mid-level interface scripting is the natural evolution of the desktop environment. Desktop widgets have been struggling toward and failing to reach that functionality for years; now cross platform browser implementation seems such a simple solution it astringently cockslaps one in the face and doesn't quit.

How can one get to work on this project?... I was investigating SVG sometime back but eventually settled with Applet+jHotdaraw framework. Would your attempt (considering the questions from audience) be a possible replacement for EclipsRCP type tools?
nice speech!

Really interesting.
I'm looking forward to the day when this sort of thing works in all browsers, and all the user-created things we're going to see then.

Does this work on safari for itouch?
xb360 3 years ago
safari on the iphone/itouch does not have svg support. So currently it does not work, but when svg becomes available it should work.

so how does one get to get hands on this project? I am working on something like Applet - JHotDraw combination. Had looked at SVG.

:)
I have something that i am working on right now for which I did investigate SVG initially. Using Applets+jHotdraw for now.
With what you are attempting, (and based on the questions) would replacing Eclipse RCP with a better choice be a good commercial output?
