  • love the video really good

  • My dad passed away due to a PE and I was only 15 at the time so I was unsure of what it was but seeing as my mom's a nurse she explained to me ... my dad had injured his ankle whilst on a walk and he didnt really move for a few days which caused the clot in his leg... I woke up in the summer holidays to find my dad collapsed in the hallway his face purrple and his breathing was laboured, we called the ambulance and they performed cpr but dad passed away inside the ambulance :( R.I.P daddy <3

  • Camel Toe?

  • Who else sneezed?

  • like if your wathing this in 2011... 4 years later still popular

  • is this a thrombosis??

  • My mother died of DVT when i was 9, happened so suddenly, me n my bro found her dead in the back bedroom. I hope i never develop this condition.

  • I was immobilized recently by a PE, hospitalized for 11 days, and my life has been changed forever! Glad to be back home, one must be very careful about this situation! ;-)

  • I am 23 and am currently on my second DVT. I'm 6'1 and weigh 165lbs, I've never been overweight and have always been fit and active. Go figure.

  • Can Any one Pls Explain What Does that clot means

  • @POURUSH59 Clot means a thick mass of blood ,, like u get on an untreated wound

  • perfectly described!!!! lol

  • anyone know the name of the tune in the back?

  • ouch!

  • my dad died on christmas day, because of a pulmonary embolism, the thrombosis was stuck on the splitting section of the pulmonary artery, everything went well in the hospital, but then a phonecall came that he had died because his heart stopped beating when he was walking back to his hospital bed. We still dont know why his heart stopped beating, maybe the thrombosis got loose or something. We're still waiting for the results of the autopsy

  • @scapy1993 I am truly sorry for your loss. Did the autopsy report reveal anything about the cause?

  • @nucleusanimation the results are next monday

  • @scapy1993 im very sorry to hear about what happened to your dad! i wish you all the very best for your future!

  • @scapy1993

    saddleblock emboli---

  • @scapy1993 i'm so sorry RIP

  • Love the accompanying music score.

  • Diet & Exercise. We've all heard that so many times, it sort of just becomes background noise in our daily lives. But it is still the single most beneficial treatment, affecting the most conditions and physiological systems. And it's damn near free!

Life . . . Use it or lose it.

  • yeah I had a PE in my right lung .... I dont see how you can miss the fact if you have one because is pain is so bad I seriously thought i was going to die , although this all was caused from a major surgery where I had a tumor and my left kidney removed and they sent me home way to soon with no blood thinners so I developed it pretty quick from just laying down when I should have been at least walking around in circles or something , ya know ... get that blood flowing kids!

  • @ridethasno

I'm going to the doctor tomorrow evening, My pain is pretty bad but its not the biggest pain I ever had.

my right arm and hand sometimes (like now) are colder than my right arm, and the pain started friday and started bothering saturday, yesterday (sunday) it felt really bad in the evening but after a glass of wine I slept good and in the morning it was a little less. now however its gotten worsen.

    Although I am worried (pretty much), I(less than)halfly believe I have it;im just 19

  • @ChateauSiran1986

Hey, i hope your feeling better, there might be something that is obstructing your subclavian artery, like a cervical rib (meaning that you have an extra rib that arises from the your lower cervical vertebrae--normally not present)

I am sure your doctor will ask you to get an neck x ray to detect it. And also do a doppler and duplex on your upper extremity.

Not to worry, its curable and there is no long term affects.

  • @ChateauSiran1986

can you check your pulse if they are equal on both sides as well?

  • @airkiro

hey, I went to the doctor and he said it where my rib muscles; a week before I felt any-thing, I went to the fitness since a long time, and I did the fitness too hard. So he gave me some medicine, and now I'm fine... I was, very scared thow... My dad had an amboly twice...

Btw, my pulse is the same on both sides, but ONE thing is thow, I've always had it that I have a very cold right hand and a normal right hand...

    THANKS FOR THE HELP/INFO!

  • @ChateauSiran1986

Ok! thats good your feeling better. Its only related to working out? But you need to be continuously monitoring yourself, especially because there is a history in ur family. Did your dad undergo any operations, and then developed it. Or did it just develop on its own?

  • what should I do? please respond fast...

  • my dad had it twice, and since a week, I have a feeling where I'm not shure if its in my backspine or right lung...what should I do?

even thow my dad had it twice and takes marcomar (medicine), doctors said it wasnt hereditary...but Im writing this now cuzz I just took a shower and it feels its getting like worse every 5/10 minutes.

the feeling is between my lower right scapula and my lung/lung membrane,my right arm feels like tinteling a bit and the whole feeling=like presure on my chest.

  • Check out the NEWEST, NARRATED version of the DVT and Pulmonary Embolism video by clicking the link in this video, or under Video Responses.

  • i love this music...i've heard it before, but i don't know what the name of it is. what is it?

  • @melissaz6

    HI, I believe it's Bach's Cello Suite No. 1

    :)

  • im gonna hop on my shiny new treadmill after seeing this

  • Buen trabajo y muy didactico !

    Felicitaciones .

  • how beautiful

  • Not smoking is one way to prevent this

  • How can this be prevented?

  • @Shi3i4lyf ocps, hormonal contraceptives and prolong sitting contributes to dvt

  • Pulmonary Embolism is what killed my Grandmother, we were at her Daughter's house one day, and just out of the blue when she sat back down after using the bathroom, she went unconscious, we got her back for a little bit, but then she went back unconscious, and then into a full blown coma, she never recovered, and died 16 day later. Doctor said it was a pulmonary embolism that traveled from a deep vein in her leg( Deep Vein Thrombosis), and lodged itself in one of her lungs, and killed her.

  • Very simplified, but a good representation of what happens.

Some of us are more likely to clot than others and then other 'trigger factors' can tip the balance. Hot weather and dehydration, sitting too long, and just getting older and less mobile all add to the risks.

  • fuckin scary man i have been sitting all day on my ass.

  • @beepjack lol

  • 3 yrs ago i got pulmonary emboli with 4 clots in one lung and 5 in the other and was very lucky i pulled through as i ignored the pain in my leg and by the time i was taken into hospital it was 7days after symptoms started, eventually i got better and was put on warfarin for 6 months & i was taken of and all was fine until the start of july 2010 when i felt syptoms in my leg and went straight up to hospital where they found 3 clots so now am on tinzaparin & warfarin 9mg for life

  • WHERE IS 'EL FERRAS'!?

  • I had this at 13.06.2010, this is very terrible and I had much luck, said everyone in hospital.

Our house doctor had should make a blood test, because I had a big pain in my left leg for one month and she just said "maybe you have wrong shoes!"

SHE took me almost to the conscience.

  • @qendu

  • Maravilhoso

  • hola tarbut

    amos se la come

  • When my patients in the hospital suffer from DVT and pulmonary emboli, rarely is such lovely chamber music playing (much more often, Black Sabbath or Dio). In all seriousness, this video (although vague and strangely creepy) is at least shining a light on a huge problem, particularly in the minimally mobile hospital population. Luckily, these days protocols are usually in place to reduce risk in hospitalized patients.

  • @hi, i believe you are a doctor or nurse of some kind, i want to ask a question. my mom last night had this hapen to her, if we never phoned the ambulance she would of died apparently..my question is, when the hospital have got rid of this clot in her lung, is she then safe again and will live a good life? or will it keep coming bak, im scared now for her life, please give me some hope! the reason this happened also is probley because she has been laying/sitting, for 6 weeks, she broke her ankle

  • @acejacko23 Sorry to hear that! I'll send you a message.

  • @acejacko23 the chances are she will be more at risk in the future because of this but she will no doubt be on warfarin for 6 months, after that it would be wise that she doesn't sit for long periods or be immobile as being active can help as well as wearing compression socks/leggings and if she feels any leg pains where no bruising can be seen or lack of breathlessness then go straight to hospital, heres hoping she will never have any more symptoms ever again good luck

  • lo mas fome q e visto

  • nice simple video ...

  • hey. can i ask something. sa leg ba ngsisimula talaga???

  • DVT may result due to hypercoagulability of the blood, Venous stasis( prolonged sitting or standing) and Damage to the blood wall(injury)... One sign of a person with DVT is positive Homan's sign(pain in the calf during dorsiflexion or pain in going up the stairs)... Some management is antiembolic stockings, elevation of legs, early ambulation for postop, medications such as steroids, anticoagulants(Heparin, Warfarin) and thrombolytics...

  • what is the name of this sympho-epic song?

  • Im pretty sure I had one of these about 5 years ago, in hospital.! I was in for surgery to have varicose veins removed and suddenly got a dreadfull pain in my chest. I was groaning in pain and the nurse was looking very worried. Its only years after i saw the symptoms when researching Warfin which I was put on 6 months later. I got dehydrated from a stomach bug abd developed a DVT. Having Varacose veins removed was a disaster for me I feel...but I was never warned about any risks.

  • good

  • just don't vegetate, and this won't happen

  • @attackof101 It's difficult not to vegitage when the doctors tell you that you NEED TO VEGITATE to that your broken leg can heal. I try to do stretching excersizes every day and use my walker to try and move around a bit every day, but its limited

  • Absolutely brillinant animation! thank you

  • A good rule of thumb is that thrombus formation occurs in arteries at areas of turbulent blood flow or injury. Such as an aneurysm or arterial bifurcations (forks or splits).

In veins, thrombi form in areas of stasis (slow, sluggish blood flow).

Hope this helps out guys :) I know its kinda hard to understand when they dont put in any narration :p

  • is taking BCP is basically begging for deep vein thrombosis. Also it can be caused by sedentary lifestyle, so lack of exercise or trauma/surgery/spinal cord injury that would render you relatively immobilized.

Yes Coumadin (Warfarin) would possibly help in this scenario, but it is a vitamin K inhibitor, so the blood will run a lot thinner and wont clot as easily, so you risk bleeding into your joints and body cavities. (Interestingly, warfarin is the same substance in rat poison)

  • Whats being formed is a thrombus, which is basically a blood clot. There is something called "Virchow's Triad," which is a set of three factors that predispose thrombosis. 1. Endothelial damage (or damage to the inside of the vessel) 2. Stasis or turbulence of axial flow (If your blood flows too slowly or runs into areas of turbulence) 3. Hypercoagulation

These things can be caused by oral contraceptives (so ties with estrogen) and that risk is greatly increased by smoking. So a smoker who

  • what is the name of the music?

  • @atomos87 Bach - Cello Suite No.1 i-Prelude its so beautifull the piece ^^

  • @LuchoxGS Thank you :) really beautiful

  • i had p.e.(dvt), 4weeks ago, I had been treated, I continue taking walfarine 4 mlg. what ami expecting in the future and what procaution should I take?

  • Wow, strong dose of Warfarrin there... Be careful of anything that will cause you to bleed... Cos it won't stop bleeding...

  • pulmonary embolism is like a instant death.... O_0

  • To lasuvidaboy, was there any plane travel, or visits to high altitude resorts in the 2 to 3 weeks prior to your PE?

And to the makers, excellent animation of the venous valve.

  • sorryyyy...

but i have the music .

  • Excellent animation.

I wish there were more great medical animations like this.

Anyone know where to watch them?

  • Amazing video! thanks for uploading =)

  • It can happen to anyone. My PEs came from a severely torn calf muscle. I tore the muscle at the gym (I've worked out seriously for over 25-years starting in high school. It is very scary as you don't know what is happening when the symptoms start. Mine were severe breathing problems that started while hiking w/my dog. Even if you are in great shape a PE can form.

  • I Have two PE at the moment brought on by a severe calf tear from several months ago. I've worked-out for over 25-years (I'm 46) and tore the muscle at the gym. I ended up in the ER after several days of breathing problems and now am slowly recovering. I'm now scared of permanent lung damage.

  • interesante video

  • ok guys, I had a double dvt split by about 4 months, Im on warferin to thin my blood & am fine, I cycle at least twice a week totaling around 70 - 85 mls, so dont give up enjoying life, paul

  • est ce qu il y a quelqu un qui peux m expliquer de quoi parle ce video ?

  • this is scaring the shit out of me now..that thats just going to randomly happen to me

  • @ShinraiShinzou its not going to happen randomly, at first, your leg or thigh will start going numb or really hot if you lay or sit a certain way, then after a while it will straight up feel like a bruise, but you wont see anything. then, start to worry.

  • Interesante vídeo

  • I had a PE shortly after a L / total hip replacemnent. I was put into an induced coma for 13 days along with a massive cardiac arrest and kidney failure.

I was fitted with a temp filter in my main artery to stop any more clots going from my leg to my heart and lungs.

This was all back in may 09 and to this day I an still on blood thinning meds and still have clots in my left leg and am still seing specialists.

This was workers comp and am still treated like crap from inurance company .

  • @jetstarsyd This is happening to people constantly and this leads me to ask a question doctors are not asking and that is, "What is causing the blood to bind in the first place?"

  • @jetstarsyd Good to see you're still alive though I don't even know you.

  • This looks like LDL Low-Density-Lipopopretein, because they transport the bad lipids and instead of taking it to liver they put it in arteries of the heart causing embolism and Myocardial infractions

  • I think that white substance is colesterol (FAT)

  • the white substance is platelets

  • how do we stop that from happening?

  • @bryronify may be we cant

  • @bryronify

    1) Stopping the consumption of Animal Protein, all together!

1/2 hour after consumption of any AP, the blood plasma contains many fat particles that stock to the walls of arteries & over time create plaques . These plqs can be launches and released ....

    2nd problem) Read 'The China Study';

    Cornell University.

    14 years of Research.

Towns, with Millions of people involved.

  • Comment removed

  • @bryronify

    Exercise! Especially cardiovascular exercise.

During exercise your blood flow will increase, which will also increase movement of blood cells and prevent buildup of such plaques =)

  • Resist the NWO agenda, grow a herb/veg garden

  • @bryronify exercise, don`t sit in the same position for long periods. Don`t smoke! :-)

  • @bryronify my sister suffering from DVT given streptokinase, and was on wafferin, due to heavy bleed dr did TAH during the OP- stop wafferin anw now has 2 emblism at the back of the knee, shalll i do ivc filter while she's on wafferin, thanks

  • @bryronify you must do sport.

i know always in german speak...... kneipp kur?

  • @bryronify : healthy lifestyle and blood thinners, everybody usually gets/experiences a blood clot but hopefully not a major one like this , this is a pulmonary embolism. A pulmonary Embolism can result in quick death.

  • @bryronify ambulation, having a healthy diet, pts at risk : after surgery or bed rest might have them on anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs, there is also therapy include SCDs, ted hoes, etc. hope this helped

  • @bryronify Exercise and eat healthy! ;)

  • @bryronify Walk around.

  • I love this video it make a complicated and long process easier to understand

  • the white substance could be a fat molecule, blood clot or bony fragment after bone fracture.

  • @2009adwe In my understanding of clinical anatomy, this video show the formation of a plaque, it is made up of cholesterol and is very sticky. Red blood cells are trapped it the plaque and form a clot . this breaks off and travels in the circulation in the heart and lungs until it is trapped and causes a blockage and if it is trapped in leg cause DVT in the lungs causes plumonary ebolism. clinically it is very serious and can be fatal if prompt treatment is not available. hope this is clearer.

  • what are the white things acummulating in the vveins here?

  • hehehe. then they say that man has evolved.

only God almight could do all that.

  • sorry but you are a uztuiztuiztuiztuvvnbvxjzflh *censored*...DVT and embolus can be deadly!!!..nah thx god for this!

  • you are saying *censored* things to yourself. yes God has allowed illnesses etc after the fall it was the consequence of man disobeying. i was talking about how the lungs work.

  • The Lungs are dying in this video...not working. 0ô

  • Let them thumb you down they just want to escape the truth i`m with you God is GREAT.

  • I LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT

  • Nice!

  • what's the name of that song

  • that is bach's cello suite no.1

  • Yes I agree this is a Great Demo....:)))

  • awesome

  • i dont really understand this. my lecturer gave this link as related to blood clotting, but i dont understand. the 1st part is as if watching pinball, the blood cell.

  • Well in this video the cause of the dvt is not really shown.

  • Perfect.

  • This can also be prevented via the use of an SCD, or a sequential compression device. DVT, et.all is many times caused by a knee surgery and/or replacement, so often the Px is older or is non-ambulatory. The SCD pump basically blows air into a sleeve which is around the patient's leg, thereby causing superficial compression on the area(s) most likely to develop DVT, and prevents the clots from forming. Along with the use of a CPM, (moves leg passively) it can be very effective therapy.

  • ummmmmm... what was that?!?that was not very cool.

  • nice 1 .... wery benifical for clearing concepts .......

  • I really dont see how Bach fits into this animation. This is like the most overused song in Youtube ever, ever! as someone else has said already though

  • That is a scary thought... is there a way to prevent this?

  • always excercise......especially ones that involve your legs.....

  • Yeah. LOOTTA SPORT

  • knowlegableeeeeeeeee

  • help me, a friend at school dared me to staple my leg, so istapled my calve muscle and now there is a lump where i stapled what do i do.

  • ...thats retarted,go see a doctor,or can you even drive?

  • well first of all is there a scab?

    dose it ever bleed?

go see a doctor before bad things happen or death becouse you couldof stapled you vane

  • You have two systems of veins. A superficial system and a deep system. Most likely you clotted off the superficial system. It wouldn't hurt to have an ultrasound done to make sure it hasn't propagated to the deep system. You should be fine.

  • its very good

  • So, would this be life threataning? I mean, right away? Or would you feel worse and worse and pop off?

  • Yes, it is life threatening. Depending on the size of the embolus, is how quickly it will kill you. You will have chest pain and difficulty breathing almost immediately though.

  • Depends on if the clot is acute or chronic. Acute being new. Yes, a piece off the clot can break off and travel to the heart and cause cardiac arrest, or if it doesn't affect the heart it can travel past the heart to the lungs. Both life threatening Symptoms: swelling in the affected leg, discolored skin, pain or tenderness, etc.

  • or better name for the blood ball is a thrombus.

  • OMG whats that music??? I have heard it before and I LOVE it, but I dont know what its called! X

  • Cello Suite No. 1 In G Major, BWV 1007: I. Prelude. Gaspar Cassado. Its a little slower though.

  • @AdobeCSTutorials thank you

  • OMG!

  • that music makes it worth watching

like a drug that soothes you o.O

  • What calming music for such terrible scenarios...

  • True....lol!!

They should have played Beethoven's 5th.

  • @TheNexus looooool best comment

  • @TheNexus LOL HA HA HA HA VERY TRUE

  • @TheNexus like Beethoven in Clock work or Goldberg in Silence of the lambs...

  • Judging from the amount of the white stuff, I'd say they're probably platelets.

  • what are the white stuff? are they cholesterol?

  • its a blood clot

  • i wanna know what's the white substance in the first video which was mixed with blood ?
