@Walithequick Most democratic countries have rules that regulates how even prisoners of war are treated, wheras in Iran people are tortured as a punishment for various crimes, like for example drinking alcohol, or debating atheism. The dress code may be prescribed by Islam, but it is the state that force the people to wear it. What about the people who are not muslim, is it right for them to be forced to wear hijab?

Drinking Alcohol is a crime in all Islamic states since last 1400 hundred years.
If the state is established by the people and if it is Islamic then it does have the right to enforce it.
over 97% of iran is muslim, So if non-muslims have a concern or if they are unhappy with this, their parliamentarians can raise the issue.
For your information, I havent heard a irani non-muslim be against hijab.
Look these laws are on Islamic jurisprudence and are debatable, but within Islam

it is not compulsory to have hijab or single sex in islam.traditionally muslims pray single sex and have hijab in mosque but this dosent mean it is compulsory outside mosque.
