  • Why the heck Ford turned it from a true sports car, into 4 seats, & later4 door, to not competetive head to head with the Corvette, I'll never understand.

  • I have a great 1961 Bird for sale

Down in Austin Texas - send me a msg

    For details!

  • Whens the last time everyone in the US wanted the same new car? Like the 1964 Mustang or the first Camaro .

  • I am supprised they didn't ,mention the optional toneau cover for the backseats to give the impression of a 2-seater.

  • A classy advert for a classy, and classic, car beautifully presented, unlike the ads of today that scream at you and drive as no rational person ever would.Wonder why that is?Could it be because cars quietly sold themselves back then on their individual merits, compared to the unimaginative,boring,cookie-cutter designs now by people who don't have the courage of their conviction to be fresh and original.Toyota is the worst offender marketing insipid cars to people who don't really like cars.

  • I just bought a 1961 Thunderbird. This video is so cool! Thank you.

  • I cant believe it, 1961 was 50 years ago this month. January 2011.

    Where did the time go??

  • The years 1955-1970 were the "Golden Age" of automobile styling. Thunderbirds, Impalas, Corvettes, etc. Manufacturers took chances on car design, and came up with some legendary, and unforgettable models.

  • I remember it well. A joy to drive and so pleasing to experience.

  • Wait, so where were rearview mirrors before, if not on the windshield?

  • @Ramal123 Either down low and bolted to the top center of the dashboard, or mounted up high into the top center of the windshield frame where the headliner begins.

  • @Ramal123 At the time rear-view mirrors were attachet to the roof at the windshield, or in the case of MGs and small cars they were attached to the dash. This is a missleading thing because they attached the mirror to the windshield because it was cheaper. Today some cars are going back, even my Hyundai Accent.

  • today cars dont move in commercials.. this one does.. make this car 15% trimmer and start production.. ?

  • What a sensation body and interior design

  • Ahhh! Memories.

  • Westcoast rearview mirror in 1961. FORD was thinking out of the box. FORD has a better idea.

  • That is a definition of a Better Idea1 Cousin to the Falcon and one of the COOOOOLEST cars Ford EVER made, this Thunderbird will soar into your heart! This is just one of the most beautiful cars under the sun.

  • the second best looking thunderbird, my favourite is the '67 coupe... such an underrated beauty.

  • i found one of these out by my house for sale, love the fins and how the tail lights look like rockets, love the 60s, im gonna buy it fix it up and make it a show car

  • Beautiful car, back when America stood for something! Too bad car adverts aren't like this anymore.

  • I have a '61 ;-P...Raven Black with a Red interior.

  • HELP! I have no sound to my Youtube account. All videos are silent. Tried to troubleshoot settings to no avail .Not a technical whiz, can anybody help? thanks Caprice

  • Take me back!! Please! Put me in the painting.

  • i grew up with a '61 and a '64 t-bird along with 2 dauschands... they just seem to go together!!!

  • i need a t bird day

  • That was the year(1961) that they were redesigned, to remove all of the clutter like the excessive chrome and ornamentation as well as reduced body weight for better performance, and doing away with the panoramic wrap-around windshield with knee-knocking pillars that had prevailed through the 50's.

  • Im currently Restoring one of these. I love it!

    Its a hardtop 4 seater.

  • thunderbirds ROCK in speed and looks

  • Best-looking Thunderbird ever made, aside from the original 2-seater. The clean, sleek lines were the work of stylist Elwood Engel, who also designed the slab-sided 1961-65 Lincoln Continental.

  • very good commercial. The 61 Thunderbird was very innovative. I like its steering wheel

  • @luisinhoens90 so do I.

    Thunderbirds rule!

Every day is 1961 Thunderbird Day!

  • this is a cool video knowing what comericals wer elike back then
