it sounds like someone is playing the record and that they're just playing along, which is a compliment considering how hard it is to pull of a multi-tracked song off live. All the times they did "1901, If I walked away from the computer, it sounded exactly like the track on the album was playing...these guys are great, and yes, their sound is a huge leap from what it was in 1999, on their "United" album,however, that record gave us the classic "Too Young", Great band

Just seen them live too, they were brilliant, the drummer is crazy, but the keyboard palyer also play drums and on some tracks they had the 2 of them drumming it was amazing. Never heard of them before I saw them supporting the Killers in Vegas but really into them now

Yeah, the keyboard player was playing the maracas and and extra set up of drums. I had like 2nd row seats and Thomas came down and high fived people in the crowd. He said ACL was the biggest crowd he had ever played for, and it felt really genuine. They were amazing and the connection b/w artist and audience was done really well.

You can judge a band or an artist by how close their recordings and their live performances sound, and they are one of the few that I feel sound as good if not better in live.... Simply amazing!

They do the backing vocal for the song live becasue they want a certain sound from the vocals. I can assure you that the song is live, just the vocals have a backing track. Notice the backing drop when the music slows down.

They have come a long way (in terms of exposure)...but quite frankly believe this is merely just the beginning. When asked who the greatest band (of all time) is, I feel like the appropriate answer is a band of grand stature like Zeplin, or The Stones...I'm sure it's just me, but Phoenix is unlike any band I've ever heard...it's almost bizarre how fucking good they are (live)...in my opinion, there's hip hop/rock/jazz/techno, etc. and then there is Phoenix...Jamiroquai runs at a close second
