  • i saw them a couple of days ago, Great people as well as great musicians. they took the time to meet EVERYONE who wanted to stay after the show. They are def not in it for the money. they do it because they are passionate about it. and YES the new album should be just as amazing as all of their last ones :) i love this song... and YES it's just an evolution. not a sell out.

  • *liked

  • I like Hurt since the first time I heard RAPTURE...whoever doesn't like em or whatever changes they make can take a cyanide capsule and kill themselves...HURT 4 LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • New album's out March 27, '12

  • @Kunaidueler1 Sources?

  • @YoutoobHatesRyan It's on their forum under hurt general then under the "news you can use" thread. The hurt manager posted it.

  • @YoutoobHatesRyan Heres the source this is from the fan email list

    Hey Guys,

We're giving you a link to an exclusive stream of a track from our upcoming record entitled "The Crux". The album comes out March 27th, 2012. Please don't record it and post it anywhere else. We also would appreciate you not sharing the link as we've made it PRIVATE for a reason. This is a measure of trust between us. We hope you like it. It'll be available for sale on January 3rd, 2012.

  • Hurt <3

  • PERFECT SONG!

  • I've loved this song since I heard it the first time back in July of 2009...good stuff!

  • Man i love this song!

  • the reason this album sounds different from vol I/vol II is because it's all new material. nearly all of the material from I/II was written years back solely by the lead singer, j loren.

BTW, 'sellout' is a catch phrase thrown around by so called "fans" who would rather their favorite band stay in a rut and recycle the same material over and over instead of evolving as musicians. you don't have to like it, but 'goodbye to the machine' is clearly an evolution of their music.

  • @RyTrapp0 EXACTLY

  • @RyTrapp0 agreed theyre definatly going in a new direction with the rock catagory perhaps there is hope for rock and roll after all.

  • @555metaltapp666 I hope there is more to come. This is definitely an inspiration.

  • @RyTrapp0 lol im not having a dig at you, just....well.... commenting. I agree with allmost everything, but when i think "sellout" i dont think of development, to me its more like changing your sound to go against the style of the band, and instead to the style of what some premoter wants. That wont happen with Hurt and your right when saying its a evolution of their music.

  • @chrisxbox3 the problem is that this never really happens. i mean, we have the def tones for example were told by their label they need to write a 'single' for the 'white pony' album, so they threw together 'back to school'. by definition that's a 'sell out' song, but it's still 100% def tones.

now the classic metallica example, the black album. no one told them to make that album, the band are the ones that decided to slow it down just to switch things up. i would go on but i'm out of charact

  • @RyTrapp0 this is actually my favorite album. love all their stuff. love this song!

  • @RyTrapp0 VERY well put.

  • @RyTrapp0 I don't know what the old stuff was (I just found them today on Pandora), but I like the evolution. More artists need to get on the same page.

  • @RyTrapp0 I disagree and am surprised that so many people agree with you. When you "sell out," you adopt a poppier sound to reach a more mainstream audience. Take the great prog bands of the '70s. They were making sophisticated music far beyond their years.

  • But when the '80s arrived, they abandoned their sound and "sold out" at the cost of sounding like every other prog band out there (since they all sounded poppy). Anyone familiar with the prog greats will tell you that their '70's material was the height of their creativity.

  • @chiutienn don't get me wrong, i know thats the original meaning of 'sell out' and that it does happen. however, a not anywhere close to the extent that a lot of people claim it does. 'goodbye to the machine' is a great example, some hurt fans will say they sold out just because it's pretty different compared to vol I/vol II and they don't like that change. but instead of just saying that they don't like it, they gotta throw the 'sell out!' phrase out there. thus, my original comment

  • @RyTrapp0 Fighting Tao is actually not a new song. It think it was on the Consumation or Self-Titled album. But anyways, this song was out much before the album came out. But other than that, I agree.

  • i dont quite get where they derive they title from...someone mind explaining?

  • whats with this religious bullshit here? fuck religion, just listen.

  • yea they sold out that why their producing their own music rather than getting big corperate music companies to produce their music. give me a break these guys never sold out they want to do something new. You can make the same music over and over I loved vol I but Vol II was pretty good it was more of same and then this album came out and I thought it was awsome. Only these guys could make a song "flowers" and get away with it.

  • I'm not sorry for what I'm about to say...This song is one of my favorites because of the multi-faceted components that make it what it is; the bass, guitar, violin, and drums...it comes together like a good hearty meal...Only satisfying more! The lyrics dance between the music notes, sewing everything together.....

  • A far cry from Vol. 1.

    Too far.

This album sucks. Hurt have sold out.

  • @johmatmarkun Please... this is by far their best album to date... its not even close. The guitar work is better... j's lyrics are amazing and his voice is better.. Their music is now commercial as well as still being unique and the recording is much cleaner.

  • @YoutoobHatesRyan There isn't anything unique about this album. It lacks the depth of Vol. 1 and even Vol. II, which only really had a few good songs on it. This album doesn't have a single track on it that stands out from anything else in the alternative pop rock world today. Pop is all this is.

The recording isn't cleaner, it's just softer. So are the lyrics. J did well to strengthen his voice, but that in itself doesn't strengthen his music.

  • @johmatmarkun well i have to disagree.. this album to me seemed less predictable and the guitar work on many of the songs was very good... the riff in wars kicks your ass and the solos in sweet delilah and well were rediculous.

  • @YoutoobHatesRyan None of it seems raw enough to me. Fair enough, though--guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

  • @johmatmarkun i guess so.

  • @YoutoobHatesRyan

The reason this album is completely different is a change in producers, Hurt's latest album was produced by Joey DiMayo (bass player to Manowar) I may have misspelled his name. He did extensive writing with the band, so that's the lack of originality your hearing, however we shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth, volume.1 was great, and i dig "fighting tao"

I know of the change of producers through an odd circumstance. my science teacher is Joey’s wife, no joke

  • @Church87 Really... Thats pretty cool she is your science teacher... Tell her YHR says her husband did a bang up job on The Machine cuz in my opinion it is their best album by a LONG SHOT.

  • @YoutoobHatesRyan Will do, i still like Vol. 1, but i like them all, and i love this song, be it generic or not, i love buckcherry too, and they are as generic as it gets :)

  • @Church87 If she was Joey's wife, you would know how to spell the surname, no? xD

  • @johmatmarkun Wrong, your perspective on their work is upside down. If not the complete opposite to what it actually is. I have been a loyal supporter to Hurt before anyone knew about them. And this album seems to be one of their most favourited album yet. So it's your opinion, and this is another conversation. Don't take it like I bitched about your comment.

  • @0smozZz So you're basing the value of the musical and lyrical content on the songs' commercial value and getting your panties in a bunch over the fact that somebody thinks they should've stuck to their roots--which would indeed constitute "bitching"--without presenting any solid, credible input as to why this album is better than its predecessors other than claiming to be a loyal fan of the band since their beginnings... Yeah, real strong argument. You sure told me.

  • @johmatmarkun We have a WINNER!!!! Now you could of speculated about what I typed but instead you would rather win an argument because it proves that you are truly an arrogant person. So I would suggest that you re -read what I typed and try to figure out what I was saying, or you could wait till I am drunk enough to explain it to you later. Either way, you bitched, like a girl because you couldn't take what you read... Really mature....

  • It's really kinda cute that so many people think war is synonymous with religion.

Yes the were a lot of of wars and battles that were indeed cause in some way because of differentiating religious belief but it is naive to think that all of them were cause by this...

Also I have to say this because it has been bugging me for a while "You shall have no other gods before me," does not deny the existence of other Gods and indeed would imply that they did in fact exist.

  • but why does youtoobhate Ryan?

  • @thull21 I don't know... but for some reason they deleted my last channel..

  • @YoutoobHatesRyan well i don't hate you this song reminds me of a story i'm writing so your good in may book.

  • @thull21 well thank you kindly sir.

  • HURT NEEDS TO BE MORE RECOGNIZED! THEY ARE SOOOO AMAZING! TRUE ARTISTS RIGHT HERE! REAL ARTISTS!

  • Once again theres is nothing I can say to you to change your mind, im not trying to persecute you, read the gospel, i have many friends that i love that do not yet believe in Christ, God loves you so much more then you know. Time is to short for us. Nothing you say is going to make me think any different, and nothing I say will change your mind, God will be the one that shows you, someday you will realize that.

  • Can we cut all the religious chat and arguments and just enjoy the damn song?

Fighting Tao is my favourite song by Hurt, not to say I don't absolutely love their other stuff. Hurt is awesome.

  • hurt is the SHIT!!! they have been around for years and i actually got to see them a few years ago with korn. :))) they are nothing short of amazing.

  • This my favorite track form this cd, their music feels like it posses you and controls every thing that you are. LOVE IT!

  • I love the violin solo, it's so unexpected.

  • Thank you for posting, with correct lyrics!

    This song is AMAZING. :)

  • not really atheist music more like how ppl mis understand religion listen to summers lost. and some other songs i think his point is that ppl use religion to do things they shouldn't without having guilt

  • the fiddles were bad ass i love hurt the first time i heard this song i was messed up haha

  • cool story bro

  • All I do Brings me close to you!, not you fagot, the song!! Rock The Fuck On Hurt!!!

  • Ya, if you think of all the things that can go wrong with reproduction its a miracle it happens right so many times......

    GOOD SONG HURT LOVE IT!

  • Good track, good vox! Rock on Brothers!

    Cheers,

    jas patrick

  • Just existing is miracle enough. Why should you have to pretend to understand the incomprehensible? You are, you won't be, now is all you get.

You were dead for countless billions of years before you were born, you'll be dead for countless billions after you die. So, you wanna go do something NOW?

  • look around, what else but faith and hope do we have to hang on to... empty promises of man? religious or not? of integrity or bold faced liar? God is peace in the very heart of man... that is, for those who choose.

  • @zero36T You say that, but isn't it this 'God' of yours that causes ALL wars? Seriously, I've never heard of a war that wasn't over religion.

The world would be a better place without religion. Yet you nutjobs still try to force it onto us. Let us believe what we believe, and keep your beliefs to yourselves.

If there is a God, then may he look after you well.

  • @keiistrife Of course, belief is your choice. My comment in no way forced anything upon anyone, I just asked a couple of questions. Don't know as I agree that all war is based on religion... I guess if oil and nuclear arms are religious (guess they could be) maybe so. My point is that we all have "religion", some in the name of God (or a god), some in the name of materialism or a cause or whatever. Question I ask is "does it really bring peace to your heart?" May your peace abound!

  • I was NOT expecting the fiddles.

  • My friend, the Crusades were fought long ago, over power and wealth. They used God's name as an excuse to make it seem just and right.

You ask me, where is my God? Look around, look deep inside, the kindness of man. That is God. What is there to lose for believing in Him? I ask you this. Ignorance is something I frown upon. You should as well.

    I need say no more.

  • If ignorance is something you frown upon, why ignore the controdictions of religions and all the proven facts stacked against. Become one of all religions or agnostic if you don't want to be ignorant

  • and how is he taking care of you? all you can do is to believe in him. its all in your head. I think its like with placebos. if you believe in it it really helps you. but is he really there? no i dont think so

  • which god? there are so many.

i never really believed in religion.

religions caused so many wars. just think back to the crusades. they slaughterd people because they dont believed in god. and nowadays its the same.

i have seen a very interesting documentation. its called " zeitgeist " there they tell you how the religions started and so on. just watch it.

i dont say there is no god. i just say all the gods that we know are bullshit and fake made by humans

  • Theres no pain in believing in God, hoping and praying that theres someone out there who will always love you, always take care of you.

In the end, God or no God, what he teaches is to love eachother. What harm comes from such? Tell me now. Why harbor such hate towards something with such peaceful intentions. Truly now, God lives within each and everyone of us. You just have to find him..

  • you should believe in yourself

    and nothing else

gods are just insanity of humanity

nowadays many are still naiv and believe in someone that lives in the sky

    thats stupid

the misery in the world is not satans work

    its human work

  • @monkeytwineball i surprisingly like this song, its not as good as rapture but i am excited to hear the cd

  • Yeah, from what I gather is Hurt as a whole is sem-aethiest, and not a very big fan of monothiestic religeon. xD

  • I think they're more of a secular type, just fray from any religion, instead of condeming them self to one lol

  • It doesn't take any faith to believe in nothing. I'm not athiest, but i know that to be true. To be athiest means you don't rely on faith; you rely on science.

I personally believe in creationism; but i absolutely do NOT believe in the christian god. I believe when our creators come back in the next few years christians will be laughed at.

  • @taoaoal athiests dont belive in science we follow logic and belive in nothing

  • Atheist and proud.

  • i understand they have a new bassist and drummer where did they go off to? what bands if any?

  • cool band. I LOVE THEIR MUSIC. so cool and great. :)

  • Comment removed

  • j.loren sounds like shaun morgan!

  • WOW!! i was just recomended this band. and i have to say.....they are pretty good. Its too bad that i haven't heard of them before

  • The song Talking to God actually isn't about Christians in general. It's about his parents, because they were very religious. That's sometimes how I feel, because I feel that my parents would rather disown me because I'm not as religious as they are.

  • whoa! LOL

i used to be a christian but i had this metanoia and my family doesn't know about this. Now i wonder, will i be condemned once they knew about it? X)

  • Mr: You say: (theoretically) we can live as good life as nobody did before us - and go to hell because we didn't believe in God? Nay... I won't pray to a God like *this*. I don't like the idea of crying over how pathetic, sinful and weak we are. If God exists - I'm sure he doesn't want us to spend our life in misery, especially if he loves us.

Sure-we have to believe in something.Maybe in a God,science, or not believing in anything. Whatever. But(I think) not in the old-fashioned,revengeful God

  • @Revenant13 - God has never changed, hes the same before as he is now, he does not want us to cry about how pathetic and sinful we are. I do cry about such things and I understand that hell is what i deserve for the sins I have committed. I know that without Jesus Christ, I will die in hell. Christ is the only one that gives me hope in this short life. God dosent want us to spend our life in misery, thats why he gave up his son to pay for our sins.

  • That's the kind of religious prattling that makes me lose respect in Christians, who seem rather sane in the first place.

Not to sound like a troll of course, but this kind of blind obsession reminds me of Twilight. (Not a good thing :O)

  • @thexsocialxmop - Blind obsession? You have a blind obsession in your own flesh. Ill pray for you, hopefully Christ will uncover your eyes and ears as he did mine.

To possibly relate- Im a soldier, deployed twice now, seen death, I know that this is not the end, then pretty much recently found truth in Christ, not even sure why I feel the need to write this but just ask Jesus Christ to save and help you. This is not religious, I hate religion, this is the only truth.

  • @Mr4433 - You are 100% right, forgive these people Jesus for they know not what they do.

  • @TheBlankyjoe Hahaha

  • @TheBlankyjoe But let's hope they keep doing it!

  • Oh boy another fanatic telling people they are going to burn in Hell. Scary.

  • maybe you won't call me a christian, maybe am wrong, but i think the true gift christ gave us wasnt in his death. but the lessons and way of life he tryed to teach us in his life the lessons that he would be willing to take to his grave. i think if he wanted for us to feel sorry for areselfs like that, he would have never tryed to teach us anew, never tryed to forgive us.

I agree with revenant13 in full, if am wrong and god and christ are they way you say i will never pray to them.

  • @windsXofXfate @windsXofXfate His death is the only reason your sins can be forgiven. You cant pay God with money, gold, or silver. The wages of sin is death. death is hell. God has unconditional love for you, he made his son pay for all of the sins you committed so that you will not have to. I cant imagine how frustrating it must be to be the one that paid for everyones sins and have them straight up deny you day in and day out. he is knocking waiting for you to accecpt him inside your heart.

  • @Mr4433 God I hate Jesus freaks. Jesus didn't die for my fucking sins. He died 1,974 years before I was born. Basic math for the win.

  • @Mr4433 oh shut the fuck up! one major flaw in your GOD is that why would the devil punish us? shouldnt he be happy people act out aginst his one enemy? or how about how over 50% of christianity is from religions 1200 years before christ? go fuck yourself you idiot.

  • @Mr4433 What would you say to a person who said that they were their own god? Because in the truth of the subject man created god in his own image not the other way around. Religion has been used to abuse, harm, control, deceive, steel, lye and cheat people from their lives. Do you believe that the crusades where right? What about the spanish inquisition?

  • @Mr4433 The thing that is most often over looked by religious people is that Jesus sacrificed himself for our sins. When in actuality he sacrificed himself as a martyr for his own believes. People say that they have faith in god to guide them to their destiny. When truth be told it's, because it comforts them to think that there is a greater power watching over them that they can apologize to when they screw up instead of just taking the blame for their wrong doing.

  • @dewolfe13 As a non-religious person myself, you are the kind of atheist that make people hate atheists. There have been shitty atheists just like there have been shitty religious people. Let them believe what they want to believe, just as they let you believe what you want to believe. As long as they aren't hurting anyone with their beliefs, they are entitled to them.

  • @Mr4433 Just look at the murders and rapist who are on death row for crimes that they have done. If you follow a religion then good for you, and I hope it makes you happy. However, don't spue your garbage on everyone else who isn't asking for it.

  • @dewolfe13- You will probably deny Christ your entire life, one day you will see him and know why, how, when, ect. Until then you only prove the truth i have as a Christian, you find Christ repulsive because you are lost, do you say these things to anyone believing in another faith?

  • @Mr4433 I absolutely do. I say it to anyone who is narrow minded enough to think that they are superior to another because they follow a written word like a sheep and then call it faith and religion. Just to set the record straight, I'm not denouncing Jesus Christ. The man really did exsist and he did die for what he believed in. However, he was also sold out and persecuted for being a free thinker.

  • @Mr4433 And yet everytime I turn around there seems to be people preaching about christ and persecuting the free thinkers of this world. If you were a true person of your faith, you would find that in your bible it states to accept people as they are. And to not allow the spirit of offense take your hand in guidence for he will mislead you.

  • @Mr4433 Come the end of the day, your work will be left undone if you insist upon berating others who choose to live their own way. When you reach a certain point in your life you will find that there is more to be had of the higher learning that what you have been fed.

  • ill stand agenst them, i will stand for justice.

a God that is that flawed does not desrive to have power, i would not even trust a human whosthinks like that to walk my dog.

god and christ love us and are willing to forgive are sins if we can learn from them and stop doing them, thats what i think going abouthow weak we are wont teach us a lesson, mearly keep us in a rut of sin.please don't take this to badly i just think you are lost in alie, try to understand godloves us,read your bibleagin

  • This is my favorite song off the new album. I see them tonght at the Bluebird... I can't wait

  • how was seeing hurt live man? :)

  • They were awesome

  • Better than when I saw them. They only played 4 songs :'(

  • love this song stays true to hurt more so than some of the other songs on this album. still great album though

  • there songs often give peoples view on christians like talking to god which is a great song btw

  • I have to albummm =]

  • That chorus is fucking amazing. Uplifting. Explosive. Epic.

  • Such a goooooooood album although i think the standard has dropped a little bit since volume II their best album in my opinion

  • I love HURT and I also like to try to figure out what their songs are about. You may also want to assume he is talking as if he were someone else. This could be someone elses view on religion.

  • In my opinion... It is BY FAR their best album... and probably the best new rock album i have heard since TOOL's 10,000 days.

  • That could be correct... It sounds to me that he still has trouble believing or he is unsure and he probably will be until the day he dies... Very good insight though... I have listened to this whole cd like 5 times... It is SOOO GOOD.

  • I'm not one to claim to know another's thoughts, but his lyrics make it pretty apparent what his religious stance is. Even on this CD the hidden track at the back clearly states that he thinks religious people are nutjobs. Listen to "Rapture" The whole song is talking about a Christian woman killing her child because she heard jesus. Then "Talking to God" He almost makes atleast one refrence toward religion per song. It's great Atheist music :D

  • LOL... Listen to flowers at the end of this album, It is HILARIOUS

  • Yep. I loved the buddhist thing. But also I think he is not an Atheist but isnt much of a fan of religion.

  • good song but is it like.....about god or something? (i might be looking into it too much)

  • I may be wrong.. But i don't think they believe in God... At least that's what it sounds like in most of their songs.

  • ooooohhhhh ok i was just asking cuz ppl have been telling me to look up christion (sp?) music cuz i "need god" and it just sounded like some of it but that just shows what i know =D

  • HAHA... Christian music sucks... And that is the only time where it seems acceptable to have a fictional character in your life.. LOL..

  • i like the way you think....i feel the same way!

  • That's because you are too old for fairy tales .

  • good point...my mom hates that i dont believe in that anymore cuz i was "raised around god" witch is BULL! we didnt even go to church...but shes mad and i dont care

  • My mom believes in the story of Christ and everything... But she doesn't mind that i don't... And it's not necessarily that i don't believe in God (Though I am pretty Skeptical). I just hate Religion... Its all Bullshit.

  • i believe that there might be something bigger then us out there but its not who ppl call god

  • Exactly.

  • i had a friend that opened my eyes to that and my mom diesnt like her very much...lol

  • LMAO.... Have you seen the movie Religulous?

  • i started to but i was with my grandma and she didnt wanna watch it...what was it about?

  • It was a documentary made by Bill Maher just going through all different religions and explaining how and why they are all Bull shit... Great movie.. i highly recommend it

  • ill look it up then sounds like a good movie

  • Ok... I got one more Hurt song i am gonna post.

  • Wayyyyy a great tune..Love it...

  • Glad you think so Dave.

  • kewl:33

    awesome song
