My dad hamster was very nice to all the baby hamsters. However, do not assume that every dad hamster is nice to the babies. Separate them after birth if the dad hamster is less than 1 year old.
Pobley because she didnt have enough protien and essentials in her diet. hamsters in captivity can have up to 3 litters or more if you can keep the female at top shape.
First time, about 6 hamsters. Subsequently, many more, from the other hamsters that had grown big enough to be mothers. I gave and sell away quite a number.
Cant you give her a week's rest at least before breeding her again?
Imagine how drained out she would feel taking care of a litter of pups she has already given birth and also taking care of the pups she is pregnant with.
ok.... the white one is cute, reminds me so much of my hamster.......... he died already............. i felt like losing everything wen he died....... hes very nice to me........
hey. im new at keeping hamsters and i bought a new russian dwarf and i didnt even kno she was pregant until after 3 days she qave birth , but sadly she ate them all. now she was witha male and she feels and looks fatter than usual. can u tell if she's pregnant ? i really need help cuz the first time she killed all the babies. what should i do ? and when can i start touching the babies ?
Please don't touch or disturb the babies. The mother is very sensitive and protective of her babies and will kill them if she smells a different smell from the babies. This happens if you touch the babies.
IF they have their fur and eyes open and it's after their 14th day birthday then you may touch them during these two weeks do research on food to give a preganant hamster this shall help her very much.
Also if you keep the male and feale together they may always mate they can mate as soon as she has given birth and this is very distressful to the mum.
OK, don't disturb the babies and mum. Keep the Dad away from the babies and mym. Don't ever touch the babies. If possible, don't clean the cage for at least a week after the babies are born.
She will give birth 3 weeks after every litter is born if you leave the dad there, because they mate immediately after giving birth. It's really bad for the mother and each new litter, coz she is can't give enough nutrients to the upcoming litter if she is still giving nursing the previous litter. You are really irresponsible!
Hi Starshollowjinx, thanks for your comment. I learnt that lesson after this experience. Ever since then, I had separated the dad and mum after the mum gives birth.
i thought the dad was suppose to stay away form the baby hamster at birth because the dads going to eat them and a question plz answer ummm.... when do you let the dad see the hamsters babies when they grow fir or what?
Somehow, this dad is a very special, loving dad. Since the upload of this video, this daddy hamster has fathered about 55 babies! He is the most gentle of hamsters ever, never bullying a baby or any other hamster. I often have a problem with the mother hamsters, who somehow tend to turn against their child hamsters when they are older.
You are a bad breeder because the father should be separed from mother for the first month aprox. or when the babies haves hair and their eyes opened.
OMG. I'm sorry i had to laugh. Missing hamsters. Call the hamster police. Just kidding it was a cute funny video. But if you keep them together they will keep breeding.

you are very irresponcible with your hamsters if you really care about them and do not want the mother to die or the father to crack and eat the babies sepearate the male and female im geussing you do not know how bad that is to breed that close together that could easily kill the hamster give them a break atleast a month between litters and you should never be bothing the hamsters like you were with the cage top off thats to much stress on the animal either give them away to more continued...
wow your mom hamster is going to die if you keep letting her have baby's like that its way way way to hard on her pelvis and her in sides but they are cute
you kept the other hamsters she gave birth to before in the same cage as the new born ones?wow... they didn't attack the new borns? anyways, its really cute!
My kids were very fortunate, they raised about 50 hamsters in about the same way, with very few being attacked by the 'elder' ones. Probably the environment in my house is very conducive to breeding hamsters safely, as my wife and I have many children too!
Then you are so very lucky that the hamsters didn't eat the babies out of anxiety! You should never mess up with their nests at least until the babies become 10 days old! It's just too risky!
Yeah, that is risky. When a mother hamster gives birth & is raising the young, you should leave it alone. You can look at the cute little things, but you shouldn't play with them until they're, say, 2 weeks old.

And why didnt you take out the babies from the first batch when she has already given birth to the second batch?
You could even open the cage and disturb her nest?
You are obciously a lame ass who doesnt give a shit about them.
Do you want her to eat up the new borns due to the tremendous stress you are giving her?
Probably you would have sold away th babies for a profit or abandoned them under your blk.
Bloody heartless breeder.
