And the guy who designed the mansion got locked up and as he tried 2 escape he forgot where all the traps where and died in one. His daughter got badly mutated and i think his wife just died. And yeah the virus spread and mutated everyone.
Movies explain it allot,but don't stick to the original plots 100%.
If i had that Mansion , i would call every night a "friend " and would say : Could you go there ?" then he : " why?" me: "well...im not sure if there is a trap" he: " haha..trap ur kiddi..." *died*...oh well xD

Due to the sheer size of the mansion, it was no wonder he could not find his way out. Poor dude. Out of all the characters in Re, it was The Trevor's family tragedy that saddened me the most.
