Completely agree! Super Mario has no problems showing off many of his best moves in workshops and is cool with his stuff ending up on YouTube or elsewhere, which is very unlike many instructors. He combines creativity with the ability and knowledge on how to lead patterns better than just about every other salsa teacher out there. His stuff is also very leadable with dancers of most skill levels, which is why I'm probably drawn to his style more than most.
I can't believe so many people hate on Mario--he's one of the best teachers out there. Almost every workshop that I've attended or watched that he's given, he almost always goes out of his way to give his students lots of good material to work with. Some instructors act like they have a plane to catch...they do their turn patterns once, maybe twice and then they're ghost! Check out some of Mario's workshop videos on here, he'll do his turn patterns about 4 or 5 times and then dances forever!
estos estilos de salsa son nuevos pero nada que ver con la salsa de antaño y se bailaba diferente y era mas criollo no me agrada estilos nuevos son pura vuelta y no hay muchos pasossss
i've the priviledge to have taken workshops with him all over the world, and as an On2 dancer he may lack a bit, but regardless. he has some moves. if you want to learn all about turn patterns, whether it be following, leading or even how to lead very intermediate dancers, he is your guy, but if you want footwork and styling, i recomend jhesus aponte, frankie martinez, and juan matos, they are always traveling around the world, and you'll be sure to find them almost anywhere.
he is a great leader and i hear hes a very good teacher. i watch his videos over and over and then the light goes off and i add a move here and there. stop hating on him. he travels all over the world doing what he loves to do. hate him for that but not for his dance style. the brother loves to danceand teach. we're lucky to have him.
that double handed behind the back move was sick! i can't waid to put that in my reportoire. i scour the internet for little gems like that and all i have to do is watch supes.
It's funny to hear someone diss Mario. Of course one will always "see better dancers" than any particular individual, but is that really really the point - unless you're just a haiter? If you want to learn moves that are fun to lead your way through, and even more fun for the ladies to follow, there's a precious few dancers out there (if any) who have more to offer than "Super" Mario.
Mario can dance with his eyes closed (I danced with him).
He is known for the complexity of his routines, not the sexy styling you are expecting.
I noticed many unexperienced improved very quickly.
Unfortunately most of the dancers in London dance that salsa styles (London style I guess).
If there are afro-cuban style teachers (especially styling/shines) in London, pls let me know as there aren't many. I am not a fan at all and I do see the feel of the music but still his teaching is good.
You are right there's a lot more stylish dancers out there, but Supermario's talents are in his ability to lead mediocre dancers through very complex patterns with ease... and of course his endless repetoire of moves. ... Also the guy is massive, I'm 6' tall and he towers over me (must be 6'5") and a good 120kg (sorry Mario).-So he's never look graceful!
