@nicholaspaul123 The worst case scenario is that no useful data is gathered. Some people believe that the potential for some kind of catastrophe, as a result of the creation of mini blackholes and the planet being destroyed. The physics behind the research doesn't support this doomsday scenario. So I would advice you to relax and just watch for the benefits of this research, no need to be afraid.

Time travel is only possible at the moment by sub atomic particles. For example the tachyon, this is a hypothetical particle that travels faster than the speed of light and has an imaginary rest mass. The LHC should over it's working life prove the existence of such theoretical particles as tachyons. Human time travel in the future cannot be ruled out, it is just that we don't have the technology in place just yet. I hope that helps. Thank you.

LHC will change the way we gather scientific knowledge and more. It is a historical moment and one that will (i hope) change our future science.
