Biblical Hebrew is completely comprehensible to the Modern Hebrew native speaker and can be compared to reading Shakespeare by Modern English speaker.

This is evidence against the assumption of linguistic continuity implying ethnic/genetic continuity: the genetic link between the Semitic-speaking Jews and non-Semitic-speaking groups (Kurdish is a member of the Iranian branch of Indo-European, Armenian is an Indo-European isolate, and Turkish is a Turkic language) is closer than that between the various Semitic-speaking groups. Neither linguistics nor genetics provides strong reasons to doubt whether the Jews belong in the Middle East.

A word on language: Why is this an issue? Given that Modern Hebrew is revived, surely it can't be a natural continuation of the ancient variant. It's the choice that Modern (Eretz) Israelis made to speak it as a new native tongue that exemplifies the cultural link, not whether or not the revival is 100% successful. Biblical Hebrew is completely comprehensible to the Modern Hebrew native speaker and can be compared to reading Shakespeare by Modern English speaker.

Languages aren't static...they change over the centuries. Hebrew is no exception. To claim it mainly has Slavic roots is false - Hebrew, like any other language, has borrowed (and given) from many different languages and dialects. The irony is that even if the entire Khazar theory were correct - and virtually none of it is - it would be entirely irrelevant. Judaism has never defined Jews on racial grounds. Anyone from any race is welcome as a convert to Judaism as long as he or she is sincere. If all Ashkenazi Jews were indeed Khazars, as racial anti-Zionists claim, they would be no less legitimately Jews - and, as such, would have the same legitimate claims to the Jewish homeland as any other group of Jews.
