  • I love how you have the same oppinion about Yiruma as me haha!

  • Favorite part begins atttt 2:15 !!

  • Love this song.

  • What a beautiful piece of music. Thank you for this excellent performance

  • Please, I can not find these notes (Help!

  • How do you make 360p look so good? This is mind boggling.

    Also, the music's amazing.

  • The best moment 0:55 - 1:12

  • I have never seen a more perfect, flawless attempt at a final fantasy piano piece. At some points I was almost certain I was listening to Distant Worlds.

You have an incredible talent. Have my babies :D

  • The first 5 seconds sounds like Sadame vrom x-Movie :D

  • This piece really seemed like a conclusion of the entire adventure (multiple prominent themes throughout the game together in one).. It's pretty sad because it felt like it was a "goodbye" to FFIX, sort of like the feeling of closing up a book that you loved reading so much that you wish it never ended.

  • There are tons of FFIX pieces that don't get enough love. (Village Dali, etc.)

I'd say this is better than any other recording.

  • This is such an old melody buried so deep within me, to listen to this many years after is truly a gift - thank you very very much.

  • this song reminds me of what my grampha told me ;Men dont cry for themselves but for their comrades;

  • i really wish you would do "the successor" from ff8 piano collec.

one of the last great hamaguchi collection pieces you havent done yet

  • After hearing you play this, I immediately ran down to my basement. FOUND MY PS1, my final fantasy 9, and played non-stop.

Thank you for letting me relive some of my childhood Mr. Landry, I applaud you :)

  • Why does this remind me of the Adams family... lol

I like this a lot though I prefer that section at 2:15 to have the sustain on the melody like in the piano collections version.

  • Kyle I've been watching your videos like nonstop these past few days ever since I discovered them on Saturday. They are simply amazing and all of them bring back such fond memories, but none so much as this. FF9 always had a special place in my heart because it was the first final fantasy I played when I was around 7 years old. Thank you for this song. And may I ask how long have you been playing the piano for? I'm pretty sure you kick every music teacher I had ass in piano playing lol.

  • This is probably a dumb question, but did Nobuo Uematsu(hope I spelled that right) write the music for ff IX? Also, nice job! Amazing work. Love your vids!

  • @Keecher13 Almost all songs up to FFX including this one were composed by Nobuo Uematsu. He also wrote a few songs for FFXI and XII.

  • true, this is an under appreciated piece, thanks for making a performance of it!

  • The most underrated piece of all FFs. It was only once played in a symphonic version and some violin players in that orchestra were definitely drunk :( Though, for some wierd reason it's not fun to play it after you've perfected it - I've nearly forgotten it.

  • You have brought the love i have for Final Fantasy IX back, I can just picture the airship trying to get through that gate and poor Vivi T-T

  • Oh i love Final Fantasy IX Nobou is magificant and its so beutiful how you present it

  • While not all of the Final Fantasy games catch my interest, this is such a beautiful song! It is so smooth and perfect! Wonderful job!

  • i love ffix. but i have no idea where this is in the game (no memory whatsoever, which is pretty sad)

do you mind telling me which part of the game this is from?

also, thank you for putting this up, otherwise, i wouldn't have picked up a new favorite from the game. :) great job!

  • 2:00 it gets soo awsome!

  • I think it was beautiful. It's a song with tons of personality!

  • So... you have not played FF before? You really should give it a try (probably one of 7-10)! That is... if yo ever find yourself having that much extra time on your hands :]

  • hey...Do you know where can i get this piece? Anyway, you did a great job!! (wishing tht i can do tht too)

  • It's a difficult piece, and you managed to convey the depth of emotion that needed to get across. It brought back the times where I could sit for a whole day and play FFIX. Great job.

To those who were putting him down: No one is perfect. Musicians aren't any different and they struggle to continually belittle themselves in order to become better. They don't need your help to see that more needs to be done. It's a self-deprecating job. Offer advice instead of belittlement.

  • oh how i tried to play the middle part of this bloody song and ive been practising the same part for like about a month now and still fail.... you make it look too easy

  • where did u find this sheet music? D: D: D: i wanna ATTEMPT to try learning it! ITS SO BEAUTIFUL! and the way u play is like....zomgggg way too proo xD remember where u found it? D: i can only find the mp3 >_<

  • Wow...Astonishment.

  • Wow. I stood up and clapped. IX is my favorite game because it was so amazing on every level. Part of the appeal was (and still is) the timeless pieces of music Mr. Uematsu composed. Very well done sir, very well done. Thank you for playing, I'm so glad I subscribed to your channel!

  • whoaaaaaa don't put on the brakes! I like how you always start soft and end hard. the way i like everything ;D

  • I marvel in the fact that you chose this particular piece to play.

    It's amazing.

    :D

    Thank you!

  • omg i wish i can play like that

  • !! yes !!

  • lol... I want to hear more of what was played @ 2:15

  • Thanks for posting this, and since it's not played as much it really brought back memories. Great job!

  • You play the 2:15 part quite differently from the piano collections version: faster and more staccato-ish. Was that a conscious decision? Great performance, as always!

  • man how you get that good man haha... nice!!

  • Does anyone know where I could get the sheet music for this piece?

  • you play so "pp" that i have to turn the speakers up so loud so that when i reach the middle section my brain explodes!

This is played so well! your arpeggios are flawless, i know the frustration of getting them wrong. i admire your perfection :)

  • wow i just realised that this song is so much harder than i thought after watching you play it. really enjoyed it :P

it would be awesome if you could do riku's scherzo from the KH collections!

  • it's really not fair how you can make this piece look so easy. and Nobuo Uematsu is a musical genius obviously, 1:37-2:03 is my absolute favourite part, it's so unique sounding. keep it up man.

  • Hey, it's good.

  • Well, a Final Fantasy OST, amazing as usally !

    Thanks for that (Y)

  • it sounds like a medley of many different final fantasy 9 tracks :)

  • repitition is key to structure however so is variation i love both :)

  • You should play some Kingdom Hearts piano Collection !

  • One of my very favorite ones...... are those.... tears.... in my eyes?!

  • mmm... I can perfectly recall the ending scene with this playing in the background XD

The other song I like the most in FF IX is the song that's played at the "dagger's haircut scene"... unfortunaly it's a very short one... i wish Uetmatsu would've composed a longer version of that song...

  • absolutley beautiful.

love the way you play, would love to play like you someday.

if you have a chance, you should give some of the Kingdom Hearts Piano Collection songs a go, they are amazing.

  • Do you have your own albums? If soo I want to buy :P

If not you should make a compilation of your best songs :]

  • This has always been my favorite song from IX piano collections. Thank you for bringing it back to life again!

  • 1:43 to 1:53 gives me shivers I love it so much, I wish Yiruma had continued with that thought just a little bit longer :P

  • Man, you rock so much!

  • Kingdom Hearts Piano Collections!

  • ha! I remember learning this piece... good times

Accuracy was spot on, but the transitions needed to be more connected.

  • Another vid, another awe-inspiring performance. This brings back memories from playing that game many years back. Thanks for posting, as always :)

  • Fantastic performance, Kyle! Awesome technique, that middle part is tricky! You certainly have improved a lot over the last years!

It's a wonderful and multi-facetted piece, great that you chose to play it.

    Superbly done!

  • @Arkton Thank you Mr. Arkton! It took me a little while to get the middle section to work. Each hand has to be independent enough to play at a fast tempo alone for it to work huh?

  • @kylelandry Indeed, only then it works. I have always struggled with that part. And yet, it is such a beautiful and lively section, it's worth the effort!

  • So... what were you discussing before? I've never heard Yiruma before but going by what has been written I guess I'll listen to him a little. This sounded great by the way, haven't heard the original but... flawless.

  • What's a Yiruma?

Oh right, that piece of sheet music that I only need one page of in order to play the entire composition.

  • Kyle alot of people are telling you they are in need of a classical piece. You can do alone o a duet with matt on the song Rachmaninoff piano concerto #2 NODAME CANTABILE style in that episode they are practicing in school and play the dueto.

please answer my comment kyle i have been a loyal fan but ive never gotten an answer on my comments b4

  • 2:19 ....... look at his left hands.... perfect

  • 1:48 through 2:32 is the best musical rendition of organized chaos I have ever heard.

  • Amazing song, Well played. Screw those negative guys and their negative opininos :P

    Thanks for the nostalgia! =D

  • This is amazing @_@

  • I MISS YOU KYLE!!!! we need to hang out now that I'm not messed up on post- surgical drugs. I still can't walk but we can watch anime and make fun of BA.

    sweet song, too. sunlight ftw.

  • Comment removed

  • hah love the yiruma vs kyle controversy. personally i think kyle wins hands down lolz but thats just me. Hey Kyle!!!! you should make a cover for lightnings theme!!!!!!! the rest of the world and i would love you forever!!

  • Oh I love this song! it reminds me of the play "I want to be you canary". That was a really fun part af the game huh? Is this song in the 110 version of piano collections because i cant seem to find all the songs in my book. There are too many! It stinks!

  • Can I get lessons from you? I LIVE IN THE SAME CITY AS YOU WOOT

  • OMGSH! I was just going to come online and send a request that you do this song! Kyle Landry you are amazing!

  • DO YOU HAVE A TEACHER ???

  • *sigh* I personally love Final Fantasy IX, and it makes me sad. well, to see how little coverage it gets. The piano collections already don't get enough love, too.

The piece is very beautiful, and of course, the arranging job is sometimes better, sometimes worse than the original. This is one of those pieces where the arrangement is quite different from the original, but I feel it's an improvement. Kind of like the difference between Besaid Island and its piano part.

  • Yiruma writes great music, of course, but he just hasn't written music over a broad range of genres and emotions (especially) as Nobuo. Well, it's hard to compare a composer for piano with one that writes for orchestra.

  • @windrixx thank you...:P

  • That was sweet, kupo!

Keep bringin' more awesome music! Kupo!

  • dude. i hated this

the whole part where u played it perfectly really sounds bad

and the part where u did it flawlessly was really not good either

  • @spookyman89 lol feck you! you love this.

  • @spookyman89 I love you xD

  • @spookyman89 lol nice. btw your so right... kyle landry's song is officially perfect.and so is he!!! i really can't find a flaw, and it isn't because i don't know him lol

  • Holy crap. This is my absolute favorite piece from FFIX. Thank you so much Kyle.

  • Love it.

  • nicely done and i think it really is an interesting piece that should have been recognized just as the other other collections of the ff9 had.

  • You are really awsome!

  • finally you're playing ff again, i like these most of all your performances

  • Yes, love ffix. I'm kupo for kupo nuts! Classic...

  • I think you should also play some tutorials of the different techniques you use to play....awesome bddy

  • I was so happy to see something else from IX ^_^

I really like this song and you played it so well

    Just .... wonderful

  • I think you should do "Concert Paraphrase On Dearly Beloved"....Thumbs up if you agree!!!

Amazing piece that is rarely played though its beautifull because it tells an amazing story as you said... I didn't think you'd do this one, what intrigued you to do this one? Because it was a very pleasant surprise ^_^... Thanks!!!

  • @magicturbo9 Yeah he should definitely do '' Concert Paraphrase on Dearly Beloved'' its simply amazing and beautiful.

    Great job kyle!

  • @magicturbo9 Kyle landry will beautifully play that peice . :]

im pretty sure he would improvise along too!

  • @magicturbo9 it probally would be rather good however, kyle has done dearly beloved many times for youtube. i think the majority of audiences would like something a little more surprising than another dearly beloved. NOT saying howevery it would be totally awesome and imspiring and just jaw dropping but thats not the point. :)

  • @craigsthedude If You listen to this "Dearly Belved" version Im pretty sure this one is particularily more difficult and largely different while still holding the same scented beautiful sound... Idk... I think it'd be a great piece to hear from him =D

  • few mistakes due to sight reading but great nonetheless

  • @FreackZz No the mistakes were in the sheets actually. I used a sibelius scored version and the guy who made them messed up!

  • @kylelandry

    dont u use ffshrines?

  • @FreackZz that is an improved version its not mistakes it have to be so xD <,< i cant english

das is eine improvisierte version das sind keine fehler die müssen so ^^

  • AHH NOSTALGIC! u almost made me cry kyle. :(

  • FFIX is my favorite. Brings so many memories...

  • Awesome played ! =)

  • thanks for Awesome music.... and for the peeps arguing... well.. all I know is FF is a game of sorts... and Kyle is an AWESOME Pianist... I come here to listen and see him play what HE wants to play and how HE interprets the music... everything else is Unimportant...

  • Wow. Awesome playing!

  • Final fantasy IX ...The best ff ever in my opinion !

And you play this music so emotionally !

I love it ! I hope one day I could play like you... >_<

Continue, you're the best ! (sorry for my English, I'm French)

  • Why are you so amazing?!

  • its good.. but i still like Arkton's version more...

  • @D1ndo dude, Arkton's version sounds so unsure. Kyle's playing is way better!

  • "This *greater than* Yiruma"

Not saying much there. But nonetheless, well played :)

  • Oh my God. When I heard this play, every memory came back to me. I miss everything.

  • ahh thank you for posting a new FFIX video man ^^ love it like all your vids.

are you planing to post one of "your not alone" `? cus I love that theme so much.

  • Wow now I remember why I subscribed to your channel!

I love this piece and I'm happy that you picked it for your video!

You are amazing Keep up the GOOD work Kyle!

    Much Respect :)

  • Awesome playing of an awesome piece!

  • IX was my first FF, memories of my first FF experience, as well as the end of IX when she ran down the stairs and out.

But now, above that, is the beauty of this piece.

  • Great play!

  • awesome.... finish.... I am stunned :x

  • You, sir, are a genius.

  • Awesome job Kyle! Love the attention you have brought to this song. I haven't heard it in so long...time to play the game again. ;)

  • MARRY ME KYLE!!

  • the river flows in you kyle san

  • im jealous of the fingers

    gentle yet firm...

  • Kyle your muisc is si beautiful arigato.....

  • I don't know if I can come with wishes, but I've been following you for quite a while now, and it would be awesome if you possibly could play some Ludovico Einadui =)<3

Thank you for doing what you do best!

    -DramaTiqq

  • @DramaTiqq Yes! I second that! Oltremare! XD

  • bad fucking ass. great work! :)

  • Strong Sherry white knights up in here.

Good job Kyle. One of my favorites.

  • who's this TheUltraDude? so stupid

  • its been like 15 minutes and ive already watched this 5 times lol

  • For some reason this really didn't seem to catch emotions very well.. It just seemed like.. Good playing. Thats all. Still thumbs up worthy though :p.

  • "greater than Yiruma" owned :D

  • Omg I love Final Fantasy IX the best. <3

  • Wonderful :D

  • If I'm not mistaken, you played this as written. Which is by no means a bad thing, Mr. Uematsu's arrangement is always awe-inspiring, but I go to Kyle Landry to hear amazing improvs and embellishments. But you still interpret written music extraordinarily well all the same.

  • @DarkEclipse702 Uematsu didn't arrange this, he composed it, and Shiro Hamaguchi arranged it for piano collection.

  • @kylelandry Hah, yeah, my bad, I used the wrong word there.

  • @kylelandry lol

  • The beginning sounds like this one Touhou song I know.

  • I liked the first one better....to be honest, this seems kind of bland.

  • *Is awestruck*

  • Another rarely played peice is Wincrest and Besaid Island!

  • Very nicely done~

  • Comment removed

  • Please start recording more game and anime piano Kyle! Im so glad you put up two new Final Fantasy videos. Thanks!

    //Sweden

  • Fuhk Yiruma, your more talented than him, yet he's famous as ballZ! what the Fudge!

  • you said rarely played but now everyone will want to play it because of you.

  • Never much of a fan of 9's piano collection. I'd say X-2 is easily the best piano collection, even though Nobuo had nothing to do with it.

  • @sushlet VI and VIII had some of the best overall music imo

  • @metalhawj I think the reason I like X-2's is because it seems to stray further away from the game's melody than the other piano collections. But I would say VI's is one of the better ones.

  • In the cases where people bash one musician, favor another, etc, it all comes down to the old saying, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

Each person has a different musical background. And that background is what makes people love a certain type of music. Yiruma appeals to the musically-declined, as in they do not know how to play an instrument (*cough this is why crappy songs are popular*) so they wouldn't understand at all from a musical plane of listening that it sucks.

  • I love the way you play! It's definitely music to my ears. :) Thanks for sharing your talent! ^o^

  • Congratulation from a FF big big fan and keyboardist, keep on play dude

  • @thisiskellen All I said was Nobuo is better than Yiruma, how is that bashing? At least Nobuo has melodic content as well as substance.

  • @kylelandry Nobuo is better

  • @kylelandry

you know, i actually agree with you. tho, both have great music. i prefer nobuo over yiruma. i actually think he is over rated and nobuo is under rated :P

  • @rickiex Nobuo is not under rated at all. His fan base is enormous.

  • @kylelandry Kyle, YOU SUCK!!!

Now that I have your attention, you're AWESOME dood!

    Long live the Kyle =P

  • @kylelandry

    agreed

  • @kylelandry and i do have to agree that Nobuo has some distinguishing features that make his music stand out more. However Kyle, these are two different styles of music no? Orchestra vs piano? IMO, you can have a lot less limitations with orchestration.

  • @ninjasushi08 Yeah, but this is still piano music as I play it.

  • @kylelandry yeah. you're interpretation. My Bad.

  • @kylelandry well kyle, first i must say, thank you for replying. cool to be communicating with you, one of my favorite musicians, but unfortunate this is what we're talking about. again, I'm not criticizing you. Yiruma's music may be repetetive, but does it lack emotion? I think not. And I think alot of people would agree that Nobuo is better than Yiruma, but Yiruma has nothing to do with this video and there is no need to be comparing him to Nobuo. But I dont want this to become a huge argument

  • @thisiskellen Ok sure, but I'm not going to change my info lol.

  • @kylelandry thats fine dont. i'd just appreciate it if you stopped. but anyways, thanks again for taking the time to reply :D

  • @kylelandry Ya Exclude the comparison . Keep them to yourself. I don't want ppl to flame you :(

  • @thisiskellen yiruma suckx.

  • @thisiskellen Didn't really see him bashing him. Yiruma uses the same chord progressions repeatedly in his songs, while Nobuo mixes his songs up and keeps them interesting.
