  • idiots, who think blink 182 and sum 41 is real punk, had this debate with my roommate

  • @jaqua524 Like what Tim Armstrong said, "Who am I to tell if this kid is punk or not?" I believe that Blink182 and Sum 41 are punk. They're just so commercialized and is part of the mainstream. But that doesn't mean that they're not punks. I thought being punk is doing whatever the hell you wanna do. If you're going to set rules, say, punks should be like this and that, then that's not being punk at all. That's just my opinion. :]

  • @jaqua524

They are punk-pop, completely different genre of music, don't know about Sum 41, but blinks a great band...sooo....

    FACT

  • This song always reminds me of my first real make out with a girl. ah good times.

  • I was flying into Heathrow last year and just as the plane turned to land 'London Calling' starting playing on my iPod! Completely random! Amazing moment!

  • @nialltc89 i agree

  • everytime i listen to this song i have to stop and think afterwards, wow! and then i go back and listen to it again.

  • carlsberg dont make bands ..but if they did, they'd be the clash.

  • YEAH !

  • énorme!!

  • i would like to thank the Clash's sound man the night they played at the Montreal Forum sometime in the mid eighties. he brought me and some friends to meet the band. great bunch of guys, today i am 42, house, wife, kids, dog, cat i still listen!

  • i think that this is the song that represents the Love of London in the best way.

    London is Calling me...

  • @nialltc89 I'd say the exact thing as GREG4LOL said

  • @nialltc89 well after over a decade of hippies something real different was kinda better...

  • At the start of the video the 3 dudes look like they are dogging over some whore, haahahah

  • i love this song, was brought up with this kinda music, dad got me into it. Just wish i'd been born in the 60s so i could be 20 in the 80s :)

  • Best Clash song of all

  • @njm05 i agree but Rock the Casbah is up there too :D

  • I've been to London several times its definitely one of my favorite cities! Man if you think about what this city has been through during its history....

  • The Clash were the greatest band of my generation

  • Superb song by The Clash!

  • That rocks!

  • name another band that matters

  • I was a child when The Clash, i get older and when listened again, love it. The today musicians need to remember those days and make good music again.

  • Does really anybody compare Jonas Brothers and The Clash! They are so different, firstly as Yarda69 said, Jonas Brothers are crap. Every song has this moral: I Love you til i die or something like that. London Calling is one best songs ever made, and they refer to Three Mile Island incident in "a nuclear error", I love it!

  • An innocent 'nose thumb' to The Beatles. As a 'tonsured thing', I must say 'Bravo".

Now that war is declared-and battle come down

    London calling to the underworld

Come out of the cupboard, all you boys and girls

  • The singer's Paul Simonon?

  • @TheKontosuburbian No, It's Joe Strummer singing, Paul Simonon only sang 3 of their songs, The Guns Of Brixton, The Crooked Beat and Red Angel Dragnet.

  • @TheKontosuburbian UM, NO, the singer is Joe Strummer, and the bass player is Paul Simonon

    :D

  • @MikeyAnarchyPunk I couldn't see their faces very well, and I also knew that they shared vocals on some songs... I wanted to make sure whose voice it was. I find it quite hard to tell if it's Strummer or Jones.

  • @TheKontosuburbian well is easy, cause Joe had a very scratchy and raspy voice, and Mick's voice is more sweet

  • Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah live by the river oh oh oh oh. Awesome !!!!

  • good good song

  • the clash = the greatest band that EVER lived!!...amazin video & song, oh and how can i forget that bassline truly immence!!

  • I rented a documentry called "Joe Strummer: The future is unwritten." Joe talks about making this video and much more, also friends, band members, etc.

I found it to be a very good progression from the begining of the clash until He played in the Mescelaros.

  • i was at high school when this came out loved it then still do

  • nice song, the best group! the best Joe Strummer whit the Pogues, Mescaleros an The Clash!!!!! 5*****

  • I remember when the Clash came out - they were great. But when London Calling came out - oh my god - music changed on that day. The bar was set impossibly high! Vive le Clash!

  • @bryanreggaemon

The Clash defined a whole generation, the Pistols were wankers, Siouxsie was amateur, (she did get better, but it took almost a decade). Damned were OK, Polly had the killer voice & sham69 were sodding fantastically loud, Buzzcocks were getting there, but playing Billy (GenX) got knickers off birds faster than my mate Jim.

All that said, the Clash were/are head and shoulders above. My particular favourite (apart from SISOSIG or London Calling) is Bankrobber.

  • @neilgreatorex shut up the pistols were the best they were punk (not thta the clash isnt) music and way of doing stuff

  • @bryanreggaemon amen

  • Alalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala

  • such a shame joe strummers dead :(

  • le CLASH 1 musicien TOPPER,1artiste MICK,1conscience JOE,1 pin up PAUL et un maquereau BERNIE shake it resultat LE PLUS GRAND GROUPE DE ROCK'N ROLL DU MONDE

  • i heard this song on a documentary about the riots in the 80s....fkn classic

  • Notting Hill Carnival when it kicked off 1976 if you don't know what this song is about ;)

  • I'd have to disagree, personally I've always seen it as London literally broadcasting to the world that its time for mass revolt.

  • It might seem to be referring to that, but the fact is they are from notting hill and the riots inspired them to make this song... the fact that they're from notting hill and were inspired by the notting hill 76 riots, which they have stated on documentaries like from "westway to the world" should be an indication. so weather you like it or not, that's how it.. also mick jones lived on my street and was part of the community there, so people around here know of it 1st hand...

  • @skam1 From what I know, White Riot was the song directly inspired by the Carnival riot. Yes, LC talks about riot violence, but it also references a wider array of social issues, like the river (Thames) possibly flooding, nuclear fears, the pitfalls of idolization and drugs, etc. It's critiquing society at the time.

  • @punkybunky

    My bad.. you're right....

  • Por mucho la mejor canción punk de la historia.

  • my offiial fav song played it in a bar in phuket and the place erupted wooooow
