Life in Glasgow is no worse than life anywhere else. Poverty is rife in all big cities. In Las Ramblas Barcelona, being an alert weegie, I was well aware of the wee ned trying to rob me. In Nicosia, Cairo, Jerusalem, Paris, Rome, Athens,... ditto.
Even in wee coastal resorts like Viareggio, esp at the train station, an idiot can be robbed.

Everyone is going on about glasgow being full of junkies but if we are honest most places in scotland have drunkies. I always thought pasiley was worst for violence and addrosion was the home of the druggies but i can't tell cause i haven't been to addrosion in three years.

Iv got family in Glasgow and when i was a little kid, i used to love Glasgow. then when i was 11 i found out that its the murder capital of western europe and about the gangs (damn Neds) and all that stuff.. i was scared to go back haha. its great apart from that. miss the accents too

There are parts of the city that you shouldn't go near without a heavily armoured vehicle and a squad of bodyguards. But other areas can stun you with their beauty and elegance. I've spent too long away from Glasgow, I don't know the place anymore. It's true what they say, you can never go home.

I am from Glasgow and grew up in Red Road flats and Springburn and I must admit I am glad I got tae fuck out of there. Glasgow is a dump and a very depresing place.
Do not get me wrong I love the people (decent ones) and the banter. That and Celtic are the only things I miss.
