I notice an oddity in today's Church. The Biblical precedents of the early church make a distinction between Sunday fellowship/Lord's Supper/teaching (amongst Christians) and (usually Sabbath-day) evangelism to the unbelievers. Really, both activities can be (and were) performed on any day a church chooses, but the distinction would do well to be reemphasized; whether it's Bible studies, small groups, whatever: churches should be GROWING believers, not just adding more in. (Hebrews 5:11-6:3)
He's giving a history of conversations he was in when he WAS hanging with a certain group. The fact that that group didn't have a definition was what sparked him to go and find one. Your title is blatantly misleading. Also, I've heard Mark give a definition that included practicing church discipline, among other things from scripture. In that story, it was before the mega churches, I think, back, when he was traveling around with heretics. Fix the title & description, man.
Is Mark Driscoll confused about what the Church is? Answer: He studied for a year and then wrote a book for Re:Lit called "Vintage Church" that defines exactly what the church is and is not and should be. I don't know exactly what the point of your video is, but it seems apparent that you are questioning him without fully investigating him.
@JamesWitte hmmm.... how does one answer the man that just called me a name? I am not a "fan" of any man, but I do think Mark preaches the Gospel and loves Jesus.
@JamesWitte The clip was meant to be provocative, but if you want to see the context for why I posted this video, you need to visit my blog More Than Cake . Org. I can't post links on YouTube, so you will need to search for — Mark, Driscoll, Church to see the context.
The group of believers was one in mind and heart. None of them said that any of their belongings were their own, but they all
shared with one another everything they had. With great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord JESUS, and GOD poured rich blessings on them all. There was no one in the group who was in need.... (Acts 4: 32-34)
People think that the perfect Pastor is the one that does everything right. I rather follow the Pastor that doesn't do everything right or knows everything but is sincere in his ministry and fellowship.
You don't need any church or preacher, regardless of your beliefs for or against god. My relationship with god requires zero input from condescending preachers like this guy.
@sketto the bible says not to forsake the assembling of yourself together. Not meeting or desiring to meet with christian brothers and sisters is a good sign that you are not saved
@llLooTll But the bible does not reward you for neglecting the gifts god has given you. And I use the gift of my brain to see that I don't have to listen to him scream at me. There's nothing godlike in that. I don't need this angry, confused guy to be the middleman between me and god. Mark Driscoll as problems.

I was at that conference and present when Driscoll preached that sermon. Trust me, there is no confusion as to what the church is. Have you listened to the whole sermon? Or any of the other sermons from that conference?
Why leave something in context when you can just edit it and make it say whatever you want? Its even more fun when you do it to the Bible. And btw bruh- we will be judged for every single one of our actions including taking the words of a man of God completely out of context and trying to turn people against him. Hopefully you find forgiveness.
Talk about taking things out of context. Mark understands what the church is, and has no confusion on the issue. He wanted to crystallize everyone's understanding on what the role of the church was, so he spent this ENTIRE sermon defining it (backed by tons of Scripture I might add) for the benefit of the potential church planters that he was speaking to. If you'd watched the whole video "Advance '09: What is the Church?", you'd know that he understands the church much better than most.
uh...seriously? in a 2 minute clip you really think you EXPOSED mar driscoll or some crap? how about you show this entire discourse. how do i know or not know he quoted The Word 30 seconds after this? Well I can't know because you have an agenda. ....Weak...

Great job at taking a small clip and taking it completely out of context to support your own agenda. I hope you don't do this with the Bible.

btw, the poster of this video is a dick head for thinking this is negative. Mark raises a very perplexing question.

@TheKJVberean point out to me where he's following false doctrine, using biblical examples?
