I find it hard to believe it was so underrated, man when I first saw it`s game play on NBC when it was released, I was like WOW I MUST HAVE THIS, sadly I never got it, altough I plan to buy it, I found a shop that still sells ps2 games, bought RE4 again and gonna buy Kingdom Hearts, can`t wait!

@JustAtyper yip they do but this one is a bit older. Both games are a cult; differing just in popularity, not in veneration from their fans. I consider BGE as one of the best games ever because of its strong story, catchy and realistic gameplay, great music and simple but quality, artistic graphics (I've never seen so well-designed and elaborated world, even once I played wow). Okay and I hada crush on Jade :) Actually, it has its bugs but you realize much later. Clear sign of BRILLIANCE.

This looks heavily inspired by The Legend of Zelda. The boss was very similar to Ocarina of Time's Fire Temple boss.

From the beginning it is epic in sound/music quality. Puzzle elements, mini games, characters all awesome. Seen a clip that has Pedj (pig guy) sitting behind a busted car in the middle of a desert. Hilarious clip.

i agree with you. i don't know why this game didn't get much hype. i just picked it up the other day and it is HELLA FUN. i'm going into video game programming and i hope to make a similar game, except with more advanced fighting controls and less fantasy-based.

Actually those are the games that many of my friends and I bought and played at the time of their release, including Summoner, Project Eden, Shadowman, XIII, Deus Ex, Snowblind, Serious Sam, Yakuza from your list and I remember them as being popular and reading about them in gaming magazines, having won prizes etc.

Beyond Good and Evil WAS and IS fun game, but I think it had same exact problem as the latest The Legend of Zelda games for the Nintendo DS, they felt more like expansion set quests than full fledged adventure titles. I hope there is Beyond Good and Evil 2 someday.

Yeah there were so many planets. In the teaser trailer, they're on a desert. And just when the camera goes up, you see a planet in the sky, very close to the planet Jade and Pey'j are on.

I mean, why did they create all those planets if the player couldn't go to the other planets. Now that the Alpha section is gone for good, maybe it's time for adventuring.

It's just like Zelda, only French and in an interesting sci-fi fashion. Made by Michel Ancel, the creator of Rayman. As a fellow poster pointed out, the game is FINALLY getting a sequel. For this who never played this game, you should know that us fans are really looking forward to it, since there's huge holes in the plot and many things left unexplained, as well as a great cliffhanger ending.

this game was noot underrated, in fact it was beter received by critics than it was by players, as almost nobody played this game in the time it was released...

and being fair, this is actually one of the best 10 game or so or the ps2! The only complaint of mine is the fact you can't explore the city or play mini-games anymore once you complete the story. But still, it's an almost perfect video game.

oh yeah! i completed this game once some years ago. It was so atmospheric and had the best story i've experienced in any game to date. It was too easy and not always that well made, but overall a lot of fun and the stealth segments were awesome. Everyone should play this once in their life :)
