  • Bet he used a Nikon to film this review lol

  • Canon 1DX FTW

  • Overall a great review, like always. Nikon D3S is the better camera out of the two when it comes to high ISO, but the M4 offers all I need, I'm gonna get one along my 1Ds3 when the 1Dx is released, and prices on used models go lower.

  • 1D X Show in full beauty as removes that from itself represents =)

  • DigitalRev sure has come a long way since these reviews.

  • I loled so hard when you said vertical shooting... Your finger is not even on the button lol

  • Canon, nikon, and Leica all rock, Kai makes my day every time I watch these videos, and trimber and Brittany need to start at it again. I was highly entertained for a while there.

  • Can the Nikon d3 use a 50 1.2?

Oh, sorry, I forgot, Nikon doesn't have 1.2 lents!

    Fucking Nikon-funboy!

  • @Bistocracy

    Really?!

Type Nikon 50mm 1.2 in Google.

  • @MrPacMe Sorry, my my fault!

I mean "Can nikon use a 50 1.2 made in the century"

  • @Bistocracy

Can Canon cameras use old great manual lenses?

Oh I forgot, you cant use old canon lenses.

  • @MrPacMe I'm fine with the new one thx.

  • Kai tries to put his finger on the shutter button but he couldn't find it :') 2:36

  • When did I say fractions apply to ISOs? I didn't. Just like I didn't say anything about autofocus, when you chose to go off about that. You are clearly a sexist, because you can't type a sentence without the word bitch in it. We are both on this page because we are interested in cameras. I'm not sure y u r taking it so personally. Maybe you have a crush on the reviewer? I don't see you attacking or insulting the guy who called him a "F*cking Nikon fanboy." I guess you only like picking on girls.

  • @Brittany26 you're such a moron its not even funny. tell me why you even mentioned fractions? or that your dad is a math teacher? or that you teach a class? or the cameras you own? you're trying so hard to impress me and make yourself not sound like the complete imbecile you are. and check my comments how many times have i said bitch? twice? you're probably an annoying feminist that jumps on the sexist bandwagon whenever you're losing an argument.

  • @Brittany26 btw im not taking anything you say personally because i could not care less about you. what i hate are self proclaimed experts trying to disprove reviewers that know what they're talking about all while giving readers false information. You're first comment was as wrong as it could possibly get and you got it wrong while sounding like a snob. now please stop responding i hate it when i feel embarrassed for other people.

  • Comment removed

  • @Brittany26 these cameras have a high fps because they're used for sports and wildlife settings as well so a slow autofocus ruins that capability. once again you prove you know nothing about cameras....just stop while you're ahead.

  • @timberswiss3 Ppl who use terms like "pmsing bitch" while hiding behind the anonymity of a chat board are immature and pathetic. You should be able to argue your position, without insulting a person's gender. If you were paying attention you would have realized I was talking about the manual focus, not the autofocus. I know exactly what this camera is used for. I shoot sports with it. I also have a M3 and a 1Ds Mark 2. I can afford my equipment, no problem. I agree with @snyggmikael comment.

  • @Brittany26 oh please insulting your gender? pathetic. here how's this for not insulting genders. "Brittany26 (be it a guy or a girl) is a complete moron for not knowing how ISO's multiply in Hi's and it wouldn't be that bad if Brittany26 didn't know but then Brittany26 goes and insults the reviewer over Brittany26's incompetence. Brittany26 also sounds pathetic by placing their students as a shield almost as if the fact that Brittany26 teaches a class makes them any less of an idiot.

  • My 1st cameras were Nikon FM10 and Leicaflex. My students would disagree with you that I know nothing about cameras, but I see it is important to @timberswiss3 to appear the anonymous expert, by arguing issues with me that I haven't raised. What I was actually saying was manual focus works well, while the reviewer was saying the manual focus was slow. All manual focus is slow compared to autofocus. I haven't found the autofocus to be slow either. I was able to capture a hummingbird with it.

  • @Brittany26 you can mention every single camera you've ever owned i don't give a damn about it, in your comment you still come off as a bitch and the only self proclaim experts here are you. you say you have students and yet you're over here sounding like a complete dumbass. btw ISO's aren't in fractions, shutter speeds are. so once again you're still coming off as a dumbass that doesn't know anything about cameras and stop playing the sexist card its pathetic on your part.

  • This guy's voice totally took me by surprise. I was not expecting a lispy English accent. The way he pronounces, "free" instead of "three" and Nikon, as "Nikkon" and the way he fancies himself, is annoying. His humor isn't funny. I own this camera, and I think it is WAY better than the Mark 3. He says "102 thousand 800 ISO". No, it's 12,800. His comment about the 12,800 ISO being comparable to a mobile phone is ridiculous. You can reduce practically all the noise in post production (Photoshop).

  • @Brittany26 reeelaxxxx

  • @Brittany26 oh and btw the 102.800 iso is the H3 dumbass. he mentions that its native max is 12,800

  • Actually he says "102,400." There is no need to be rude.

  • @Brittany26 lmao no need to be rude and you're over here being a bitch about everything that he says just because you shelled out money on this camera when in fact it is only a minor improvement over the mark 3. you came here expecting to hear something that justified your purchase and you didn't so you go as far as to criticize his accent and along the process you proved you know nothing about ISO and how it multiplies. simply put you're a pmsing bitch. and 102,400? his math is still right.

  • @timberswiss3 My father is a math teacher. I have no problem with fractions. Sorry if my saying his cheekiness is annoying caused you to go on a sexist tirade. More bothersome than his flip remarks, is his inaccurate review.

  • @Brittany26 in Asia they says Nikon as a Nikkon, that not weird.

  • @Brittany26 Chill down , he is still human so he will make stupid mistake by misread the ISO .

  • Was it Lok doing camera yet?

  • OMG THAT LENS OMG I WANT IT

  • Asian guy with british accent = mind blow :S

  • @AlwaysSecondGuy Look up "party rock anthem acoustic" and click on the first one.

  • Thats a MANS DSLR

  • I like this camera, but hate the body. Battery grip looks like a tumor to camera. I rather Have 5D Mark II(Or III when it comes out).

  • I like this camera, but hate the body. Battery grip looks like a tumor to camera. I rather Have 5D Mark II(Or III when it comes out).

  • i thought it has af live view..

  • thats my dream lens. the glorious 85mm f1.2 L. too bad we dont have it on nikon (as i use nikon)

  • Comment removed

  • sooper cwisp vweedioohh. I love you Kai

  • i dont get why there is no mode dail ?

  • hahahah its damn expensive

  • make the 1d full frame!!!!!!!

  • @jaywbe look at the 1ds mk3

  • Um....the D3S is a piece of shit.

  • @TheDanielsonBrothers actually if you're a fanboy then fuck of nobody asked tou you probably dont know anything about photography and dont even have a dslr

  • @nikolagamer222

Which is why I've been doing professional photography for a year now? You're an idiot.

  • @TheDanielsonBrothers pics or gtfo poser... u suck... its just a body a lens is what maters its the same

  • @TheDanielsonBrothers any camera is good in the hands of a good photographer. especially a professional model

  • @TheDanielsonBrothers If you don't know anything, please refrain from expressing and embrassing yourself.

  • Had money for 1D and a pro lens, but doesn't have money for a single eyecup.

  • terrible audiooooooo

  • Can I fax with it?

  • Eos 1D mark 4 is bigger then Canon Model Face <3

  • is this not full frame ?

  • @08CJ11 no but 1ds is.

  • Fucking Nikon-fanboy! xD

  • @snyggmikael He loves Nikon and he makes that very clear...

  • I like the idea of fast burst, but is there a better CANON camera than the 1D Mark IV. ie a full frame one, with a fast burst... can you do a video on that..

  • I got to say... What is the point of being a critic if you have preferences and be baised bitch?

  • This guy DBOATYZ think he's awesome Photographer.. And he don't need any better camera to take good pic. Yeah, that is why he is here to watch this video and comments.

  • @jerseyman9080 I think he just meant that both cameras are great though the 1d mkiv has better features. The point though is that you can have the best equipment and not be creative enough, your pictures won't come out great. The lens though makes a great difference but the most important is the person taking the picture. As long as you have a DSLR, whether it's a rebel or 1d series, the photographer should be the most important part in getting good results.

  • @MediaAde So technically you saying there is no difference between $800 and $40000 camera. And yes lens does make the difference your camera body play the big part. e/g ISO. I have D90 as well but i also know D90 can never replace D3s or even D700. Taking about Picture, yes you can take pic with any camera cus pic is not about camera or gear, its about creativity and emotions you put. But when we talk about Pro Photography then every small thing does counts. Even ISO, Sharpness, Bukah, etc etc.

  • Hey it doesnt matter what camera you used, photographer will make the difference.. i was shooting side by side with a photographer on a cat walk show, and he was using 1Ds Mark IV and i was using a D90 and his image was shit compare to mine...

  • @DBOATYZ be quiet fool

  • canon's menu system is way easier to use than the nikon.

sure, im a canon shooter, but it took me about a day of use to figure the menu with my first camera.

i now have a job in a camera shop and cant stand trying to navigate a nikon, it took like 5 minutes for me to figure out how to select the AF points on a D90 after i found it by going through like 4 different menus.

nikon makes some fantastic cameras, but fuck me if the menu system is better.

  • @benknowsbest1 ... You don't compare the Cannon 1D-IV with a D90... You compare it with a D3s.

  • @GorCancio doesnt matter what the fuck you compare it to when talking about the menu system, it stays essentially the same from body to body.

    nice try, smart ass

  • @benknowsbest1. What's the name of your camera shop? I'd want to tell your boss to fire you since it is obvious that you don't read the manuals and are totally clueless about how the "my menu" and the "func" buttons solve your 5 minute Mr. Bean adventure.

  • @2.14

"(orgasmic sound)...and more time.. (orgasmic sound AGAIN)... Oh yesss"

    :DD

  • stupidly fingers.

  • Not as good as the Nikon D3S = YES!

  • only cinese can make a Canon 1D advertising.

  • Kai was so serious last time. Now... hmm.... FUNNY!

  • idiots! with an 85mm f1,2 lens every camera is good!

instead of using a sigma/tamron/canon etc. lens that is not soo good, they use a f1,2 lens.

  • the sound quality/microphone on this video is really bad. Use a proper microphone :P

  • 主持~請好好保養雙手咧 ~

  • One more time... oh yesss!

  • Thumbs up if you are waiting for the 1D Mark V

  • I have both 1D M4 and the D3s. i must say, the Canon is way better. The way this video comments about using high iso in a bright room and state that he picture looks like it's been taken by a mobile phone....is BS. you don't need such a high iso for a bright room!

  • AK-47 @ 2 : 17

  • 2:16

    sound of nerdgasm

  • The sole purpose of this review is to brag about Nikon. I have compared them both and Canon is definitely better

  • Well I guess we can clearly see that he is a Nikon fan. At least he does admit to that in other videos. I was hoping for a more technical review, instead it was more like that of someone who look at this like a weekend hobby. Funnier yes, but when looking at such costs, I was hoping for something more professional.

  • Still think the mk ii n I use is pretty awesome!

    Bird-watching.co.uk

  • 3:43-3:45 lol not really

  • ...the canon 1D mark IV looks ESACLY the same as the mark III

  • im saving up for this camera, its 5,000 (not including shipping), I might as well just borrow a lens from my dad for a while, til I can get my hands on a 16-35 f/2.8L. My dad has both a 5D mkII and a 7D, I have his old 30D, but the best part about getting this camera is gonna be not letting him touch it (just how he does to me with both of his cameras). He sais its pointless to get this camera, I think everything on it is worth it, specially the ISO performance and the 10 fps.

  • This guy has NO IDEA what he's talking about!

  • Whoa. You don't sound Asian at all.

  • take a D3s and a 1D mark iv to the fifa world cup, and then put the photos on a 60in hdtv and you'll see what's up

    i would take a 1Ds camera though

  • First useful review I have seen from him.

  • That's a sexy lens.

  • @PhilMcKrakenPlz fuck off

  • R = W?

  • @singaporeKKKx LMFAO!!!!!!!! I LOVE you for saying that. I LOL-ed :D! I laughed when they said it that way too. "Wange"

  • this review is pretty biased he forgot to mention the AF system which is a hell of a lot better than the Nikon D3s, the 1D mark iv really shines with its AF system, which you can program to do anything like changing focus point instantly with just pressing a single but rather than the two buttons or doing through the menu, or when you can activate, the AF area expansion so you can choose 1 point and then 1 point which will be your back up, or it will focus as close to as the AF point you choosen

  • would you prefer a 1d mk iv or a 5d today?

  • @alanbstard4 5Dmk2... worth its money, the 1D is not.

  • @NikkLJs thankyou. I have been looking at the youtubes and there is a lot of Canon 5d representation. My local photo shop bloke also speaks highly of it. I'm traditionally a Nikon supporter ( not fanboy ) but I must admit, I am leaning toward the 5d as a purchase

I have been out of photography for a while. I have some knowledge to gain and catching up to do

  • @alanbstard4 Well, i actually prefer Nikon too without beeing a fanboy. I just think that Nikon is waay over the edge compared to Canon if its about photos, but if its about video.. Nikon becomes rubbish. So, its always about what you need, and not about fanboy'ism'.

  • @NikkLJs glad you mentioned video. That's exactly why I am leaning to the 5d. Sure, I wish to take stills, but the video displays I've seen from the 5d are wonderful

check out youtube " canon 5d in the park 2 "

  • Lol 4:32 ! ! ! You know that's something that he experienced!

  • I really like your reviews but they are SO biased towards Nikon

  • ahhh sh*t i jizzed....again...

  • I'm gonna start selling my body. And I thought my 50d was expensive when I bought that. Heck...

  • Welease war

  • OMG!!!! 85mm 1.2!!!

  • why is it so BIG? O_O

  • @ProDaviid its a pro thing !

  • @ProDaviid It's jam-packed full of awesomeness. :D

  • body is 5000 usd lens is 1900 usd

    = 1 shitty car

    or 1 happy photographer

  • I love this british asian guy :D

  • lame review... Canon may have some issues regarding Hi-ISO but seriously Nikon isn't any better. People or reviewers don't see how Nikon files have HUGE noise reduction, sure the did improve but the files are not true RAW, they are all processed, also Canon files have wayyy better transitions of colors, tons and overall pixel sharpness is much better. Nikon needs to review their sensors not about noise but the overall quality of the final images.

  • Is this guy serious? The Canon 1D Mark 4 is by far the best camera I have ever used. Amazing focus - Video very cool.

  • only Nikon.

  • i guess u dont know much about photography, go get some technical lessons u might change ur minde about this amazing camera

  • i just BOUGHT THIS CAMERA

  • my love :(

  • This guy is in love with Nikon and doesn't give good reviews of Canon products.

  • You want this camera, just wait. It will soon become dirt cheap one day. In the future that is.

  • Kai, your such a Nikon fanboy ... It makes you so ... Not reliable as a reviewer of this camera. And no, I`m not a Canon fanboy crying over bad Canon review, I shoot with a Pentax :P ... , but I`ll fall over to get a Canon 5D Mark II soon.

  • that 85mm lens is soooo sexxy

  • quite thick voice for Chinese!

  • Canon Europe announced way back when that the Mark III's auto focusing problem is for those between serial number 501001 to 546561. Due to a flaw in the dub-mirror assembly. Canon has offered to repair any cameras with the problem and has recalled dealer stock in this serial number range. Not sure what happens after that though :-(

  • body = 6999$, lens 3500$ = 1 Car.

  • 7k for the body? Your getting ripped off... Can get it for 5k....

  • @sanchilz cheap car :D:D

  • @sanchilz

Imagine you already have a car and need a freakin camera. Brings a whole new dimension of deeper thinking into the situation doesnt it?

  • @sanchilz Panavision Panaflex 35 millimeter camera $1.5 million + lenses $750,000= A shit ton of money

  • @sanchilz or a nice motorcycle

  • @sanchilz body is 4999...

  • @fersobe It may be now, but it sure wouldn't be at release, which is when this was shot I believe.

  • @sanchilz The 1Ds Mark III is $6999, when it was released in November 2007, it was sold for $7999!

  • @sanchilz lol my dad bought a nissan for 4 grand

  • @sanchilz it gives more expensive cameras the body from one camera costs 17500 euro

  • @sanchilz dude. what kind of car do you drive ? :D

  • @sanchilz i rather camera+lens than car ;)

  • @MrSamperkins but Ford has Focus... Auto Focus, kind of

  • @sanchilz

    This isn't your mom\pop's camera :)

  • @sanchilz Pro camera + Pro photographer + Pro lens = many nice car.

  • @sanchilz a really shitty car or a really really good camera set up.

  • The IQ is not worse than the D3s. You can rescale it to 12mp, at which it has basically the same noise at the same iso. And it has more detail and will appear much sharper.

Also: the menus on Canons are lovely and easy to use. Don't let this Nikon fanboy mislead you there. :-)

  • don't agree on the point stating that canon menu is hard to use, i've used nikon menu, is such a pain.....

  • Comment removed

  • that lens is beautiful, but this camera is not worth it over a D3s unless you are heavily invested in canon glass.

the iq is worse and the af is marginally (but only marginally) more accurate despite being on paper much better.

that and the ergonomics of canons are just not my thing, i wish nikon would supply the same primes as canon and that their colour reproduction was as nice out of the box.

    Peace

    Brian

  • I managed to test out a mark 4 just recently. It's not really worth the upgrade considering the price, but it is a considerable improvement.

  • This guy is doing a bad job selling for Nikon. Makes him look like a bad salesman. Maybe he is just pissed at Canon for whatever reason. Not a true review.

  • It is funny to have someone who a Nikon fan to do a review testing on Canon camera.

  • haha. I think it's funny how he seems so pissed that the set button moves with the dial. Is it really that big of a deal?

  • lol. "Look closely, and you'll notice one major difference, It says Mark IV rather than Mark III." HAHAHAHA. That looks funny to see someone shooting a video with that lol. I have a question, what does a image taken without a lense attached look like?

  • Pretty sure this is the first video where it's said that the upgrade from Mk III to Mk IV isn't worth it. I really can't agree with you at all as the AF is vastly improved and the ISO performance at 6400 is very impressive. Maybe not as good as the D3S but paired with Canon lenses it makes it worth it. On a final point you complain about the video mode on the Mk IV but your cameraman doesn't seem to be able to master whatever he is using so maybe not the best testers for that feature...

  • @newyclio I don't think they really said that the video mode was bad per se, they just mentioned the panning issue which is a problem that most DSLRs seem to have in video mode.

  • wallet cant keep up with all these new tech. keeps getting better and better in a shorter period of time. makes for good entertainment though.

  • finally a video that doesn't show a 1d snapping off frames. i've been looking for a nice review

  • Nice review !

  • Hey. I enjoy watching Kai's videos. They're fun but what happened to the previous guy. He needs an introduction too :D

  • i love i love this camera is a very nice it work profectly!!!!

  • 10fps?

    Oh Shit! :o

  • These new videos are funnier

  • @LivingForLOL I noticed that too...

  • love the 10fps, but these cameras are crazy expensive. so, if you're not doing professional work (being paid for your photography), then i wouldn't suggest buying this camera for a hobby or if you think it'll put you in the photography business.

  • also, the video feature would be nice for small commercials and such, but I wouldn't rely on it for professional video. i would most definitely use a professional video camera. if you compare the price difference of most old and newer dslrs, you'll notice that the higher price difference is a shadow of the HD video the camera can support...as for image quality, it will all depend on the type of lens one owns.

  • I honestly wouldn't buy an fairly expensive DSLR because it can shoot full HD or 720p @ 60 or 30fps. If I'm in the market for a DSLR, it's going to be primarily for photography. IF I needed video, I would go out and buy a professional video camera. It is really not worth spending over $500+ for the video features on the new DSLRs. Save that money for a good lens and accessories. + these 10fps cameras are more aimed at sports, that's another reason why they're so expensive.

  • really? I can't afford the 1d Mk4, but if I can, I will. I have been using digital dslr for years, and went through beginner (300/400d) to pro bodies. I currently use a 5Dmk II. I enjoyed its video function, quite handy in many situations. Definitely not like those crappy cell phone clips. And, 5D is too slow for my motorsport shooting, so I am looking to get the 7D soon. IMO, the MK4 feels like the combination of Canon's MK3, and 7D and 5D is like the cheaper alternatives of MK3s.

  • D MK4 is expensive, but for some, who own both 1D & 1Ds MK3, they will be looking to sell their older bodies and get the MK4 as now they just need to carry one body on the go, which shoots 10fps in full frame. Bonus, HD video. If you own 5Dmk2 or 1Dmk4 & are in the situation when you just do not have space or time to pull out the recorder, you will appreciate it. And now you can get rid of the slim digicam (which is for light video clips or photo jobs), or still keep it just for conveniences.

  • for people who like fast camera bodies but don't feel the need to pay for a pro camera (amateur photographers), they can always go for the old 40D and new 7D, at the expense of cropping and lesser functions. Then get a 5D MkII to fill in the slower shooting jobs.

  • 10 FPS?! that's crazy...

  • Kai, I agree with your review 100%!! They need less pixels and need to focus on their IQ like nikon.
