  • shshsh don't worry Mister cos there will always a way to fix this,,just keep talking

  • @TheVenetist well, historically, temperature rises, followed by CO2. Carbon Dioxide doesn't drive temperature change. it's all mind games. we are hardly the problem.

  • We have to take into account here that the poles are shifting, and if anything has more power over the oceans it's the Moon. Think about shifting tides changing how small islands receive ocean water. If the poles are shifting, then the Moon is only shifting the tides based off of the magnetic balance of water. Think about it, how can you see rising sea levels on a remote island when all other coastal cities are still there? Water distributes it's volume equally and we contribute so little.

  • reading State of Fear as we speak, this is all bull. climate changes, is warms and cools. we are hardly the cause.

  • Water also expands when it is frozen. The volume in the ice caps is not the volume that if melted would threaten the world. Absurd global warming crap.

  • @monkeymirror your right, but a lot of the ice is above sea level, any ice out of the water doesn't affect the sea level.

  • @monkeymirror There's ice over sea level, retard.

  • ummm isnt beach mining another factor to be blamed for land erosion on Tarawa?

  • @teetalovespeace Yea but the same thing is happening in parts of texas and Florida.

  • looks like a nice place, to bad it won't be around for much longer :(

  • mauri mauri!

  • At least they get beautiful sunsets...

  • Reporters don't mention that the islands are built on Coral bases. The coral is decaying and the land itself is sinking back into the oceans. In many cases the land has been sinking for centuries, and for non coral islands is just the nature of living on volcanic cones that break down. What does this have to do with Global Warming? Nothing. How could it. The globe has been cooling since 1998. GW is a scam to raise taxes on the poor.

  • If they are actually disappearing, there's no way the sea levels can be rising at only 2-3 mm/yr. Somebody's lying here.

"Solar system change" global warming, however, would more likely be the cause than the mythical "man-made" global warming.

  • They are scarmungering in order to move the people to NZ. The glabal warming conn works great for people wanting to mirate to the west and works well for the western capitolists to get more consumers and cheep labour and to reduce the labour costs in western countries.

  • What a joke.

This is a UN scam to remove the people to where they can pay tax and fees They are using the people to help push their climate change conn and letting the people use the retric to immigrate to NZ or other western counties. The sea has risen by about 2 millimetres but because these islands are so far from the mainland few people can aford to go there to check for themselves unless you get a UN scientific scolarship.

They could be sinking but that is nothing an excuvator cant fix.

  • nice view

  • The population of Kiribati is estimated around 100,000. These islands have only been able to sustain this large populace as recent as the last 500 years. Ocean levels a thousand years ago would have covered most of the islands we see today. The mini ice age caused the ocean levels to sink thus revealing more islands to allow the population to grow. Unfortunately the mini ice age ended about 150 years ago and it is quite possible that these islands will once again fall below sea-level.

  • HAHAHA THEY DIE LOL.

  • Let the UN build a few artificial islands 10 meters above the sea level, protected by a strong dike. It can be done, the Malidives proved it by constructing Hulhumale island on the kaafu atoll.

  • "DAMNCULTEALLTHEWAY".....fuck you moron...fuck your coutry bitch....love this islands.....

  • dont blame us 4 ur poverty - not our fault u r poor

  • hey if you do not have anything useful to say...then close your effin mouth...you do not know how we live ok...so shut da f*** up!

  • One way to stop ocean levels from rising and save Kiribati

    watch?v=iHEXkkSPVmI

  • let these islands go, they ruseless n e way

  • Who are you to say that these islands are useless? Are you human or not? The lives of the Pacific people is as precious as yours. If you have the right to live, the people of the Pacific also have 100% right to live. The injustice is that the industrial nations are threatening the lives of these people due to their increase in greenhouse gases' emissions. By the way, the Pacifican people treasure and value "LIFE", not "MONEY" as industrial nations often promote and consider the most important.

  • First line above should read "Just so that there is no misunderstanding, "peer reviewed scientific journal" does not mean:"

And yes, people have responded with all of these when simply asked to provide an article, within the past ten years, from a peer reviewed scientific journal.

  • Global warming is happening, and human activity is contributing to it. If anybody wants to deny this, then please post a link to any peer reviewed article in any scientific journal in the last ten years which claims otherwise. If you can not, then I don't want to hear from you, because you are just blowing smoke.

  • Just so that there is no misunderstanding, "" does not mean:

    science fiction novels

    forty-year-old newspaper headlines

semi-coherent rants about liberals, conservatives, neocons, communists, hippies, etc.

statements that "some scientists say" or "lots of scientists say," or "so-and-so is a scientist and he says" and so forth. If the scientist really had anything worth saying, he'd publish.

claims that scientists are responsible for the Holocaust.

  • Sailor, you have things turned around. I don't have to disprove something which has not been proven. I have yet to see any "proof", other than computer models, which show global warming is due to man-made CO2 emmissions, which accounts for less than 3% of the total CO2 in the atmosphere. But, for dissenting voices, you can look up: Richard Lindzen, Prof. of Meteorology at MIT and a member of the IPCC council; Dr. Roy Spencer, Weather Satellite Team Leader for NASA;.....

  • ....or Patrick Moore, co-founder of Greenpeace; Dr. Jorgen Peter Stefanson whose core samples from Antarctica show that CO2 levels follow a rise in temperature. Not the other way around; Dr. John Christy, Prof. of Atmospheric Science at the University of Alabama whose research with weather balloons and satellite shows little to no warming of the earth. All respected scientists whose research refutes man-made climate change. Consensus is not proof and the "alarmists" are showing little proof.

  • A simple look at recorded temperatures over the last hundred years shows that the Earth is indeed warming.

SOMETHING is causing the sea level to rise. If you don't believe me, ask the folks from Kiribati.

I notice you provided no link to any peer reviewed article in any scientific journal in the last ten years. I didn't ask for "dissenting voices," I asked for scientific papers from peer-reviewed journals.

However you did provide me with some names, and I will look them up.

  • Oh, and for the record, I didn't ask for "proof" of anything. I asked for "a link to any peer reviewed article in any scientific journal in the last ten years which claims otherwise."

  • ... 30 year cooling period where temperatures dropped almost .3C. I find it disturbing that you don't require proof of anything; only that it be written down in a jounal. But since you do you can reference these:P. Chylek, et al. 2004"Global warming and the Greenland ice sheet," Climate Change 63, 201-21. "Since 1940... data have undergone predominantly a cooling trend.... The Greenland ice sheet and coastal regions are not following the current global warming trend."

  • I'm not requiring "only that it be written down in a jounal;" I'm requiring that it be written down, submitted for peer review, and accepted for publication in a scientific journal. This doesn't prove that what is written is correct, but it's a much higher standard than

so-and-so is a scientist, and in this speech he gave at the Heritage Foundation...

  • I'm not asking for proof that GW isn't real, but I am saying that there is no longer a scientific debate on the matter, because peer-reviewed journals are where scientific debate takes place.

I'm still checking out those names you gave me. I could find nothing on Jorgen Peter Stefanson. Can you tell me where to find more information on this Jorgen Peter Stefanson?

  • and these:Comiso, J. C., 2000, "Variability and trends in Antarctic surface temperatures from in situ and satellite infrared measurements,"Journal of Climate 13: 1674-96.

Both satellite data and ground stations show slight cooling over the last 20 years.

Joughin, I., and Tulaczyk, S., 2002 "Positive mass balance of the Ross Ice Streams, West Antarctica," Science 295: 476-80

Side-looking radar measurements show West Antarctic ice is increasing at 26.8 gigatons/yr. Reversing the melting tren

During the last four interglacials, going back 420,000 years, the Earth was warmer that it is today.

  • And in regards to rising sea levels please reference the work of Nils-Axel Morner of the University of Stockholm who did work in the Indian Ocean nation Maldives. He is widely published and can be found here: Mörner, Nils-Axel (2004). "Estimating future sea level changes from past records". Global and Planetary Change 40 (1-2): 49--54. doi:10.1016/S0921-8181(03)00097-3.

  • OK, now you're giving me names, dates, article titles, and JOURNALS. I'm going to write this down and head for the library next week. I'll let you know what I find.

  • What'd you find?

  • Rising sea levels? I've lived on the beach for 24 years now, have yet to see it rise an inch.

Stop confusing erosion with ocean level.

  • Coastal erosions and the coconut trees eaten away by high tides is one concrete example of the rise in sea levels. There are more, keep reading the Pacific newspapers.

  • bill if you could get in touch with me please let me know cus i am so concerned about this climate change and all that.i am far from home living in tampa, florida and it really bothers me so much because i am an islander so we have to do something.i hope i could meet you someday soon here in United states...thank you very much indeed.

  • omg...this is really scares me and i been thinking bout it everysingle days how in the world gonna be...thanks Bill for your concern

  • Very informative, thank you Bill

  • this is relevant to my interests

  • thanks for this.

  • Cathy you dirty fat slut.I hope you eat shit and die whore, dont come back to Hastings or else
