Hey anyone seen the new footage from Palladium? I have it on DVD and this is definately not NY Palladium. During Crazy Train on the new (better, and more accurate) footage, Ozzy is wearing a blue shirt. In this one he's wearing a white one. This is not the Palladium. Unless of course they played the Palladium twice? On the new footage it dates it as May 2. 1981. Same date in your description.
AL ROMANO TOOK THIS FILM! CLIFF BURNSTIEN AND LESLIE WEST CAN ATTEST TO THIS FACT! MARK WEISS LET THE TAPE GET STOLEN. THAN I GAVE IT TO OZ AT PARKER MERIDIAN LIKE A FOOL. I WAS YOUNG AND DUMB. Folks, don't get your hopes too high about Randy footage. Bob Daisley owns quite a number of studio outtakes, video and a whole bunch of other stuff. I seriously doubt any of it will be released. He was only with us a short time, just enjoy what is already out there.
@4JayeP According to Sony they were working on 2 concerts and it was to be released in October. Now it is pushed back into 2011. Who nows if we will ever see it.
my father owns a Reel Tape oF this show but the only 2 songs i dont see on youtube from it is No Bone Movies And Suicide Solution And The Beggining of randy's solo...in black and white too
Judging by his motions on stage clapping & dancing I never saw Ozzy look any happier. This to me looks like a trademark show on the U.S. leg of the Blizzard Tour which made people take notice on this side of the pond
Vids like this is what validate's "boot legging" back in the day because we now have a record of a deceased great one for posterity which we would never have had and Rhoads' live playing would've been lost. Ten bucks says Ozzy is glad these bootlegs were made.
@Attari502 I had long hair just before I watched this ..I am now bald ..This brought me back to those golden memories of when Randy was still with us .. AWESOME Randy Lives \m/\m/
the best guitarists are the most modest ones.for example, randy, who shows up at an ozzy audition with an acoustic guitar.buckethead who doesnt say much in public and others.
This is a bad ass version of Crazy Train. Ozzy's voice sounds really good...he must not have been THAT drunk for this one....and of course Randy Rhoads sounded fuckin' killer,
I dont know why someone would limit their soloing to fast pentatonic playing when given the chance to solo for Ozzy, what about legato, pulloffs, and too many scales to mention. I am surely not talking about Randy.
all the best guitar players die its a shame randy was the best ever if he had more time think how manny more great songs there would have been, in the short time he had he made the greatest song crazy train R.I.P. randy
Believe it or not I recently was in the presence of two individuals who actually thought Zak W. was better than Randy. I did not comment (I think Randy is far better) because they did not play guitar and have no concept of quantity vs quality (not denying Zak is very unique and a virtuoso). Plus they were both drunk and I was not. What are your thoughts.......
Zak is really cool but I think he is expected to really show boat during live shows. His studio stuff is fantastic, Crazy Babies, Miracle Man, No more tears the list goes on. Randy was around whe rock guitar was still young so what he prbably would have thought was over the top show boating was actually just a good and exciting live show. In short, Randy came up with some very unique and cool stuff. Even though Zak's stuff is excellent, I don't believe he was ever really revolutionary.
You obviously do not know about the technical aspects of music when fusing styles. Randy brought many scales, movements etc. that were obscure to rock from his background. Learn about him. It is one thing as a musician to imitate and quite another to create.
I clearly say, quote 'Randy came up with some unique and cool stuff.' I then say 'Even though Zaks stuff is excellent, I dont believe he was ever really revolutionary.' I clearly says the same thing you do. I know plenty about Randy, and I agree with you , he is a guitar God and continued to study long after he reached the top. His choice of keys, and classical background meant he couldn't help but bring new things to rock. Randy was clearly better, just listen to Mr. Crowley for proof.
Sorry, I thought you said just the opposite. I have some people that I know (that do not play) and they think Zak is better. I try to explain that it is like apples and oranges but they just don't get it. Sorry I misunderstood you, and you are right about Crawly, it is a very hard one to play.... especially the pulloffs that are doubled with the keyboards during the solo when they do it live! Very innovative!!!

Yes he does know how to improvise. When they were writing Mr.Crowley, Ozzy told him just to let loose and go crazy and improvise the solo. Obviously he fine tuned it, but lots of it was improve
this is a true thing that happens! its not a chain letter! its kinda scary at first but it really works!! paste this message into 3 comments and press ALT F4 and your crushes name will appear on the screen!!! its soo wierd
Zakk doesn't suck. He can play well and write okay. The thing is, Randy Rhoads wrote most of the successful songs for Ozzy. Zakk only wrote like Mama I'm Coming Home and Dreamer.
Ozzy's voice is perfect in this performance...its awesome

Wow! Randy was truely something ("GOD"). Crazy Train is my favorite song. All in all, I hope to play as well as him when I get to be the age he was.

Yes he does know how to improvise. When they were writing Mr.Crowley, Ozzy told him just to let loose and go crazy and improvise the solo. Obviously he fine tuned it, but lots of it was improve

Yeah I know Back in 81' he was better than Zak Wylde now just imagine if he lived he would be even more unbelivieable than this.
Dokken77 5 years ago
Zakk Wylde? Who isn't better than Zakk. He sucks.
KillWill3 4 years ago
Zakk doesn't suck. He can play well and write okay. The thing is, Randy Rhoads wrote most of the successful songs for Ozzy. Zakk only wrote like Mama I'm Coming Home and Dreamer.

There's no such thing as the best guitarists but Randy was one of the most talented, just imagine, he was playing like that what 25 years ago?
drkinvader 5 years ago
If Randy we're still alive, he wouldn't be any better. He was as good as you can get.
