i think the best recovering technique for mario is down B and keep mashing B and hold direction towards stage, the cape, jump, cape upB

if you do it perfectly you you could probably recover from most attacks.

i don't know who labeled this as a bad comment. This technique is the best in many situations when distance is the only factor, as the down-B cancels your outward momentum fairly well, and you still have your jump (although sometimes its good to save the down-B for a fake out near the edge). also, a few more capes before the up-B can help if need be (never cape more than once with doc, though).

Wavedashing in Melee is when you short-hop, then midair dodge while DI'ing towards the ground. It's a more advanced move used often by most characters in tournaments.

wavedashing has nothing to do with DI, and you don't have to short hop to do it. you just have to midair dodge diagonally towards the ground right after jumping.

Technically, to wavedash properly and effectively, I believe the way I described it pretty much is the way to do it. Also, "down" doesn't necessarily mean, "Straight down," as long as you're headed downward. Satisfied? =3

No WAY! The waveslide is what made melee not as good as N64 SSB. The game is not "direct" enough, too much item grabbing, "hopping" and dodgeing in Melee.

true, but with excess manuevering abilities, u can really even out the playing field....actually, ppl have already begun finding really good tactics in brawl....the game now has some really interesting character movesets...like snake can cancel his dash attack with an up smash nd also how squirtle can use his turn dash as a huge advantage....look up shell shifting...

not a seizure of attacking but a combination of amazing shffling and wavedashing. these guys are pros! not to spam, but if you search advanced how to play you'll get a video on how to shffl and other advanced tactics.

I've decided that he's playing bowser. It's bowser's saving grace by far and is just about the only sort of buffer to get away from most things because bowser is so big. Something I've learned when fighting Mario: That little bugger can turn ANY move against ANYONE. It's not Sheik, or Falco, or Fox you have to be afraid of. It's combo-happy Mario's that are the REAL terrors. And Eggz, you are an incredible Mario. I'd really have a time adapting to your moves.
