That's how we do it! They said if this comment was made about jews and blacks they would turn the world upsite down to get fairness...Armenian's can do it too so even though we are always the quite side.."one negative word about genocide can make us really really mad".
On a still different note: Think of "Indian giver," "Greedy Jew," and "nigger," and realize that VICTORS (whites, Germans, British, Turks) never seem to be punchlines in jokes. I think that is interesting.
And why so much HATE in L.A.? Is the traffic getting to you people? Be happy and nice, like you (supposedly) were in the 1970's.
Anyways, APOLOGY ACCEPTED!
M-o-v-e o-n and watch some good VANArmenya videos!
On a different note, "Armenians" is always a good punchline for humor, since they are a quiet, hard-workign people, hard -to-define since from so many different countries. After English and Chinese, Armenian is the MOST WIDELY-SPOKEN LANGUAGE ON EARTH. (It is in every nation, practically).
To be honest, I don't know why anyone would even be hurt by these remarks. I mean times are tough and the more desperate the talk show host gets the more desperate things they'll say. Last time anyone ever hated on me for being Armenian was back in junior high. The most I'll give to this whole situation is a comment on youtube and dats it. If u plan on 'protestin' anythin, u need to find somethin better to do with ur time. Apology accepted, u can carry on ur show with whatever listerners u have
as if the genocide wasnt bad enough, then obama doesnt recognize the genocide as a genocide..and now this. at least he apologized but us armenians are already a small society.
Skokonyan, that was the SAME EXACT response I got from the radio station...not surprised at all...I don't believe for one second that these 2 sincerely apologized. They were FORCED to apologize, but whatever the case is, the bottom line is, they now know to NEVER MESS WITH THE ARMENIANS!
if the first genocide of the world (Armenian Genocide) was rcognized by whole world, Never would be happened any other genocide after so try to have respect to humanity or we are animal just like other animals with human face...
Bills & Laras statements were deliberate, predetermined, and made with malice of forethought. The fact that Bill neither offered an apology nor regret is a clear evidence of this fact. He circuitously restates Lara apology. Do not be fooled by his conniving personality. Even if he had, it would be unacceptable. They both must be fired for the intent of making a satirical statement of the Armenian Genocide and tried for deliberately inciting violence, promoting prejudice and racial hatred.
I used to listen to Bill every morning on the way to work. The comment wasn't about the Armenian Genocide, but about "getting rid of the Armenians". This was his suggested solution to solving the medical/medicare budget problem in California.
Having been a loyal listener to the Bill Handle show for the past 7 years I have come to know his style and I can say with full certainty that this apology is not sincere.
Trust me, I understand that some things are just so painful and hurtful that no one finds them funny and of course you are entitled to be offended, however, I'm confident the majority of our listeners understood that this was parody and that neither Bill nor his crew was actually trying to attack the Armenian members of our community.
No one was actually advocating hatred against Armenians. The comments were obviously said in jest, in the same breath with advocating euthanasia for the elderly and genocide for the Jews. The comments made were solely mocking the idea of genocide and weren't intended to be about Armenians anymore than they were about euthanasia for the elderly.
Interestingly enough before this "Formal Apology" came out this was the response that their Program Director sent to me by email when I filed a complaint its a bit long so I will post in sections:
I am truly sorry you were offended. While I understand your concerns, Bill Handel was clearly engaging in parody and hyperbole to point out the absurdity of genocide as a solution to rising health care costs.
Not only did Bill sincerely apologize, he mentioned Armenians and quoted William Saroyan as he got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We Armenians are quick to criticize wrong (which is o.k) but we should also be forgiving in cases like this where Bill Handel was genuine.
You say what you want and then you apologize but you never think before you speak and you call yourself a radio talk show host? I don't care much for an apology from you because you two are the type of people who have no shame. Your apology is accepted just as much as the respect you have for yourself. Enjoy your show.
This was not a sincere apology, and I believe that these people should not be on the air! This is just not enough and anyone with any kind of intelligence would not have even made such remarks about a horrible event, the Armenian Genocide! Shame on you Bill! Your comments made on air truly shows what a Champion Advocate of Genocide you really are! Shame! Shame! Shame!!
You just express your thoughts about the Armenian Genocide.
& Lara needs some acting lessons because that wasnt apology it was fake. let me be clear Armenians did their part improving Glendale from what it was before, 2ndly
Part of city budget comes from our Businesses and state budget comes from expensive properties taxes which 80% own by Armenians in Glendale. Most importantly as a tax payer we do have equal rights to get health benefits for our seniors, adults and childrens.
Apology not accepted! They are not sincere! I don't even think he cares about what happened to his own grandparents. If he did, he would have never allowed such obnoxious, ignorant comment being made in his show by some racist, immature person. They both need to be taken to court. They should always remember that Armenians never forget!!!
No, Bill, you Jackass, you made statements denigrating Armenians as a whole beyond the genocide issue. We want to see you make positive statements about Armenians, and we want to see you retract your statements in whole, not in part!
forced into an apology, its odd how far over the line of contrition into groveling these apologies go. Their effusiveness in their self-mortification reeks of insincerity, like and invisible gun is aimed at their head. Dont do something wrong and you have nothing to apologize for. but when you do apologize, make it short and sincere and not a long-winded, what-was-I-thinking-now-how-do-I-end-this-video?? It all smells bad...
I didn't hear any apologies for the "getting rid of the Armenians" comment - or did I?? Most broadcasters get thrown off the air for things like this & get national attention..........Imus for example...........
I got the email from my org and was getting ready for our protest tomorrow at the walk of fame which was hours away. The last thing Bill would want is us with our huge banners with his exact quotes and tell every single peson there what he had said. It is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE to "joke" (!) about something like this is the last thing you expect from a son of a Holocaust survivor...
That is a misleading "apology." He makes it sound like the comment had to do with disrespecting the genocide when in fact he basically said people have to find the solution to the problems in CA by getting rid of all the Armenians!!! What an ass, he needs to get off the air for saying such a large scale hateful comment, isn't a hate crime against the law? a fake apology weeks later is not going to undo the hate he shared with his impressionable listeners and continued it the next day as well.
Hats off to Pasadena resident Greg Garabedian, who brought the anti-Armenian comments on KFI to the attention of the ANC. Congrats to the unified front & concerted effort of the ANC, AYF and UYA...That's the Armenian National Committee, the Armenian Youth Federation and the United Young Armenians. The Armenian Bar Association has also been on board for this troubling ride.
best part is after someone wrote a letter to them a week later in response to their original comments, they continued to mock us. Im sure you have all heard, after the letter was read Lara Hermanson said "is that with an -IAN or -YAN... with a sound gesture to following". This apology was made for political and business reason. Lara dont say that your happy to be able to apologize because you would have been able to sleep just as comfortably as you did after you made your initial comments.
He should have his show banned, he was only called to apologise to make himself look good in the media, he is a vile racist and should be sent to court never mind just put on v to apologise
That's how we do it! They said if this comment was made about jews and blacks they would turn the world upsite down to get fairness...Armenian's can do it too so even though we are always the quite side.."one negative word about genocide can make us really really mad".

People should always be forgiven when they apologize. There is civility here.
The Turks not only deny the Armenian Genocide, but blame the victims. Turkey is re-writing history. Turkey fails to apologize.
That is injustice, incivility.
Thanks for the apology.
