Recoding sound effects at this level is an expensive time consuming process. The location has to scouted and rented, weapons rented, ammo purchased, an armorer hired, recorders and microphones rented and purchased, sound recordists hired, and librarians hired to master the recordings. This is why sound effects cost money.

If you shot a movie and had to record the guns yourself you would be more than happy to pay $5 for sound effects, it's a lot cheaper than spending $2,000 for a gun series.
