  • Is that Scrapps?

  • @Gunner193 yes, when he was a little fella

  • It looks like your black piranha is doing a bit of landscaping inside your tank lol!!

  • u irish?

  • @gorkamorka07 sorta... Newfoundlander. we have deep Irish roots

  • some pirahnas do eat vegatation

  • @roark100 he doesn't eat it, just trims and spits out the bits

  • What plants are those?

  • @AuronWarrior that's the Giant Amazon Swordplant... well, it's supposed to be giant until the gardener took over

  • You are so smart. I dont even know how you could get started on setting up a self susstaining tank like that... Scraps either really likes you he acts like he wants to hang out lol

  • Piranha are not strictly carnivorous

  • I'm posting this here, in case that you wouldn't check the other vids for comments. I wish to get a Drosera Graminifolia and I wanted some sort of animal in the tank. Would the animal be eaten by the Drosera, or would it not be attracted. Also, is an Eastern Newt a good choice? Now, to be on topic....I love your aquarium! It's so realistic. Plus, Scrapps is awesome.

  • Not much will be eaten by the Drosera. Only flying animals are usually trapped. A newt would easily slip from the tendrils and glue. I would be more concerned the newt would be walking over the plant, covering it in dirt. Put the Sundew in a place it won't be in contact with the newt - for the plant's protection. If you used a Nepenthes, on the other hand, buy extra newts!! :D

  • Thank you very much! I've been looking for an answer to this question for a while.

  • Wait a second, where would I put the Sundew so it wouldn't be in reach of the Salamander(I decided I wanted a salamander if possible)?

  • lol scapps is always getting in the way. it's cool what he did

  • Haha. I know, he won't let you spend too much time loitering around his 'hood! XD

It's strange how he's clearing the brush. Prolly making a bit more space to swim... only thing is, is that Amazon Swordplant is the Big Mama!! :O

  • Thats cool how its like a natural ecosystem

  • Hey vimvigernvi, thanks for noticing. It is an ecosystem with planktonic organisms and plants cleaning the water. There is no filter system in this tank and it has been like this for over 15 years or more! I believe that's mostly what makes this fish feel so at home - he can smell the muddy bottom and other organic components of a natural world. Instead of fretting within a sterile environment, he can concentrate on me!! :D

  • thats awesome

  • kewl :)
