In his listing of individuals and groups of individuals FF Randy Soard failed to recognize the three retired FDNY members who were working in the "Towers" as 'fire safety directors' and remained at the command post to assist their active brothers during the operations.
I'm sure it's just an oversight, but they didn't abandon their brothers during their hour of tribulations and deserve recognition.
The Fire Safety Directors are shown along with the 343 Fallen Firefighters and the other Volunteer Firefighters who were working their day-jobs in the WTC.
These three men are often left out of the honors bestowed on the 343 active brothers who perished on 9/11 at the WTC. James J. Corrigan, William X. Wren, and Phillip T. Hayes are not listed on the FDNY Wall of Honor; they should be.
I worked with Jim Corrigan for several years before he retired and I worked with his wife, Marie in an attempt to get him and his fellow "fire safety directors" acknowledged along with the 343.
I merely didn't hear you mention them, specifically in your address.
Wonderful job....I am a NYS Court Officer....Not on the job when this happen but learned alot about it...RIP to all who did their best.....and Captain William Harry Thompson, SCO Mitch Wallace, SCO Tommy Jurgens
My husband is a retired police sargent and my father-in-law is a retired fire captian here in Nashville. You can see the bond we share. God bless you, this is a beautiful tribute.
