@Tomko401 VCU's run was harder. They had to win 5 games and also DOMINATED some teams on their way to the final four. Blew out #3 Purdue by 18 and beat #6 GeorgeTown by 18. Not to mention they beat #1 Kansas by 10. Did I forget to say that they werent even expected to make the tournament?!?!

Not to say George Masons run wasnt impressive, but VCU's was a freakin MIRACLE!

uconns problem that year was our backcourt. we didnt have any consistancy and it bit us in the ass at the worst possible time. our post guys armstrong and boone not being able to defend a couple of 6`6 guys in the post was another problem.most embarrassing loss in uconn history.gmu had no business even being within 20 points of us in that game.

If you remember AJ Price was suspended that year due to the laptop situation. He was supposed to be the back up to Williams and be able to break down the defense off the dribble. He also would have provided a better defender on the perimeter as well, Remember Albany's guards and Patrick Sparks on Kentucky beating UConn players off the dribble? You know your team is slow if that happens.

As far as the GMU game goes, as good as Williams was that year he was not great a pushing the ball and AJ Price would have helped. But you hit the nail on the head as far as Boone and Armstrong go-they got dominated inside. That team wasn't committed to defense either and was thinking more about the NBA than a championship. The proof of that was how angry Rashad Anderson was when he was on the bench most of the 2nd half against Kentucky even after UConn had won.
