I really LOVE the great B I G opening of this show.... Judy looks confident, healthy, and in very good voice ! ''JUST IN TIME'' fits Judy's sensitive feelings for her loving audience!
I have this DVD- if you listen to the sound you wil be amazed at how incredible her voice truly was. I consider it my best sound DVD. You can truly appreciate the quality during the second number : "You do something to me" where she is singing without an attached micropohone. Truly unappreciated. Everything today is garbage in comparrison/
I hope David Begelman the manager who stole 90 percent of her money from the Garland Show in 63....is either burning in Hell or is on a spit in hell ...rotating around and around and around....He's the sort of Jew that makes all other Jews cringe...he definitely was not a Mench, but a Goniff...which means Thief!

Well the name Judy Garland sounds a lot more catchy and memorable then Francis Gumm. That name sticks more in the mind then her name that she was originally given at birth.
@phmike69 Yeah, to me it seems like when she was younger, she looked so much like her dad. But now that she's getting older, she looks a lot like her mom. Funny huh? :)
BRAVO !! My FAVE Judy video, she is SO amazing, I can hardly stand it !! NO ONE knew there way around a song like Judy Garland nor could sell it like her , in that unique , one of a kind style ...I could go on praising her, forever !! xo
Can you just Imagine the ELectricity back stage watching her begin to wind and sail out there? I lov ehwne they played The Man That Got Away and the Audience went nuts! Damn I was born too late! She gives my chills everytime she Speaks let alone when she sings!
It was once said, that Judy Garland was and is the only Singer who can pull off an overture on TV. Most audiences wouldnt find it exciting enough and "drags" the show on. But Judy appearing was like a "A religious Experience" One of her contemporaries said. This Show proves what kind of fans Judy really had. This show made people scream and jump out of their chairs! LOL Let these pretenders to Judy's Songs sit up and take notice that This IS the Greatest Singer ever to live!
THANK YOU, tanggully !! OMG, OMG !!! I can't get over how Amazing that was ..has anyone evr heard the absolute Roars from an audience like Judy just got ? It certainly didn't happen in other famous singer's shows...people screaming BRAVO all over the place ...I get all excited when she sings that song..what raw emotion and passion and effortlessness in her delivery ..PERFECTION !! Come back, JUDY..we need you and love you Forever..xo
I think that TV special was done in 1960 or 1961, just after she had recovered from almost-total liver failure. That's why she looks pudgy here. But she was WELL and when Judy was in good health, she was amazing. Bad makeup but she did a wonderful job!
Imagine that ? Never, because those two posers or anyone else for that matter Can't touch the Genius that IS Judy Garland !! She brings tears to my eyes, she's so freaking great ...No one else like her EVER !!! Miss you Judy ..xoxo
Imagine Britney Spears or Beyonce coming out on stage like this - minus the backup dancers, technical wizardry, and other gimmicks - and trying to sing a song like this, bringing out the full range of emotion heard here in a three-minute performance. Hardly any contemporary performers can sing a song with just a microphone and piano anymore, let alone turn in a commanding masterpiece like this.
There are a few clips out here of Judy doing "Just In Time," and they're all wonderful, but this particlar one is my favourite. She starts slowly, and builds bit by bit, phrase by phrase - and suddenly she's blowing the audience out of their seats - uncontrolled applause breaks before she completes this opening song. This is Judy - the master show-woman, who earned her fame the old fashioned way - one audience (among thousands) at a time, starting from the age of two.
GONE WITH THE WIND! Her daughters are like the GWTW Sequel made back in 1994 "Scarlett" You can not Improve on perfection! So for anyone to claim her kids have more talent than Garland are just plain NUTS.. LOL
Garland is and forever will be the World's Greatest Entertainer. The power you feel surge through your body as she walks on the stage and immediately spellbinds the audience
I never understand why she'd resort perhaps by her vocal condition to this a much less demanding of the intended ending but she surprisingly pulls off when at the Palladium in '64 when in really hoarse voice. Guess she wanted to remind everyone with Liza on stage who would always be THE SINGER in the family. Listen to the ending on THAT version. You can find it on many CDs & an episode of her series she did it twice with both endings but best on last episode disc. WHAT AN ENDING. Spinetingling.
...uh, except that the daughter can't really "sing" to save her life and never could. She can holler, but she can't sing with tone, warmth, richness, or pitch, and all the sympathy awards, fake eyelashes, and cheezy choreography can't hide it. Never could. Plus, her career peaked with one overrated movie and slid to the toilet ever since 1972. Big whoop.
Even if I didn't like Liza Minelli I would feel sorry for any performer who has to wade through comments like yours. Surely during the course of one lifetime she's heard enough vile and idiotic remarks to suit anyone. You can shut up now. Your job is done.
vengeance 509 you are SOOOOH right about poor Liza! Terrible singer! But she has loyal fans so I guess we have to respect their taste is different But did I mention she was a TERRIBLE SINGER? (and always was)
In all honesty you cant compare the two...Judy worked hella hard to make a name and Liza worked even harder to make her name without her mothers prestige. Their two different types of Powerhouses. Judy was big band vaudeville and movie musicals. Liza was a broadway showstopper and actress. Two different worlds
I know this will be removed eventually so Im enjoying the LIVING HELL out of it !!!! This woman had "IT" like no other.........thank you thank you for posting this. There are also clips of her singing Swanee, Rockabye your baby. and a medley of her hits..........if you could post them.....even for a week.......PLEASE !!!!!
And there you go, Ladies and Gentlemen. The greatest talent that ever lived.

By giving a banal, pedestrian song the modulations that it seems naturally to crave, Garland creates a showstopper.

When was this colorized? Was it for a rebroadcast or home video?

@traod8 It is available on home video: Once In A Lifetime, Frank, Judy, and Dean (1962)

This is SO FREAKING GOOD. The way she acted the song, so naturally...And, as Mort Lindsay said, the modulations were all her doing.

It(what she sings) was true. why? well on june 22,1969,she died at the age of 47 and the world was heartbroken(so am I).
So this song was true. She saw you(aka. God).
Thanks for posting this!! Elvis had almost the same thing except it was red in 1968.
she's at peace at last. Long live Judy Garland(1922-1969) :-(
