Why did they show Nelly Furtado as though she's Latina?

She's Canadian born to Azorean/Portuguese parents.

@Marllon You should ask her (Nelly). She goes to a lot of Latin events n she speaks really good Spanish, she looks Latina, she has the Latina style n curves, n more inportantly she has said thats shes Latina. You cant belive everything you hear/read. Not everything on the net is accurate.

@Marllon Portuguese, Romanians, Italians, Spaniards, French are considered to be Latinos. Read and learn, books don't bite.

@infinitenostromo Don't front. I know that all those populations are Latin. However, this CNN segment is on Latinos in America. I don't know whether you're from here or not, but the U.S. has its own personalized definition of the word "Latino". In this country, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, which is a government division, a Latino or Latina is a person with ancestral and/or natal ties to Spanish-speaking Latin America only.
