@0Lientje0 I believe it's all in the mind and how you reflect on it. George should be able to cast a patronus because all he has to do is think of the good times they had together. Those happy memories just don't suddenly change. Look at Snape's patronus it's of Lily and he is still able to cast his so why not George?

@darwin20121 It's mostly speculation, as Rowling said George never completely got over Fred's death. Then there's the so called 'twin connection', and those two combined make people guess he won't be able to do so anymore. Snape had a reason to keep on fighting - to protect Harry, in whose eyes he saw Lily. Well, that's my take on it.

There's no official statement by Rowling about it, sadly enough, so I doubt we'll ever know for sure.

@0Lientje0 true, i forgot to make the connection that Snape saw Lily in Harry's eyes...how about Harry's patronus to save himself and Sirius black? i believe he had help from Herimone-- she touches the tree for some reason and then let's go afterwards. Also, Aberforth Dumbledore had a lot of wizards around them when he made his patronus to protect themselves from the dementors
