Don't know if this was mentioned before, but having enough water is hard to carry if you have to evacuate. Buy some water purifying tablets for your kit. Camping equipment stores and web sites carry them. They take up little room and can be used easily.

this year is a la nina year as well so expect another stormy spring- maybe not as bad as last year but it could be well above average once again- in a month or two or so well know the strength of la nina whether it is decreasing etc- its pretty active now- we in the northwest know all too well the past two weeks after all our snow ice storm wind storms etc

FYI you can buy military grade cases of MrEs off eBay, lots of dehydrated options too, I went with MREs incase fresh water is scarce, I also bought water purification tabs to use the water in our swimming pool if necessary.

@Estate911 ...if you go to Kelly Kettle...you can buy a portable kettle that the Irish fishermen use to heat water...use sticks and a flint to start a fire that heats the water like a volcano...double walled and able to pour...I travel with it, just in case I get stuck, and have to use tabs for water and heat it to be able to drink...just a thought! Great company.

dutch is right.. but easy solution.. every person who can prepair.. take extra.. for those who dont prepair.. those of you who cant afford much of anything.. i have a solution.. stock tap water.. if it does happen water will be the new gold.. and you will be rich.. so easily solved..

@kami243n uhm what decision? And my point was, sweetie, that even though being prepared is fine,but "having something for self defense" can be the root to more problems that it solves. If a lot of scared peoples sits around hugging there guns someone is gonna pull the trigger. If I'm gonna be a bit mean I'll say that U.S put to much trust in guns. Guns have yet failed to save anything, beside of the problems they caused in the first place. N.B Dutch never said guns I just speculate.

Hi Dutchsinse, is possible for you to make a worldview of changed weather patterns?

My country (Netherlands) for example has a weird weather pattern like expecting frost at early December and now the first week of frost is 6 weeks late (30th of January 2012 forecast).

There really is a magnetic pole shift speeding up here.

I hear these weird weather reports on forums all over the Net.

Normal is predictable, seems like so many times these scientist can't explain why or what is causing these sudden weather patterns to become so extreme.I have experienced 5 decades of normal. Now these PROFESSIONALS are saying this could be a really bad year. For millions of years the earth has been going through changes and some of those are quite radical.Personally, I would like to learn what we can and help all prepare for it before and after.

@thetexanfan these extremes were predicted by scientists who told us decades ago that global climate change would mean more violent storms-no haarp needed- just mother nature pissed that were toying with her delicate balance- it is worth noting that when they say record storms they mean only going back as far as weve kept records which isnt very long-indians in the NWEST talk of big storms and quakes in their history dating back hundreds of years so it could also be very cyclical events as well

I figured out what that weird sound was! Its whatever device they use to create the texture of clouds in the chemtrails when they spray. I never here it on sunny days.. and the clouds that are really flat and move like one piece with no sense of direction r UFOS..
