This is a very stylish tribute,i think the Academies should take note. There are some people mentioned who have long forgotten by most folks. The music is well chosen too-so moving.
the editors suck on these things. They don't use very poignant clips of the actors. Look at 3:36, there are literally hundreds of clips that would sum up June Allyson better.
Jack Warden--Darren McGavin--Peter Boyle.........great old-timers. Made it in movies and TV as well........You enjoy all these actors/acresses for years and suddenly they're gone.................................Life fades but their work remains.
Beautiful tribute...love this so much...the song is Press On by Robinella...I have it on my channel...great song...great video...thanks for sharing! :))
honestly, but the music is really too sweet! i can hear it one minute, but no longer... there is no passion, no charisma in it, just like a too sweet perfum that makes you headache...
They always do such a beautiful tribute. I had no idea about Adrienne Shelly - God, it was tragic what happened to her. Beautiful shot they used of her though.
All of the "TCM Remembers" videos are lovely and poignant and memorable! The song is exquisite accompaniment and it reminded me of the one with the Rickie Lee Jones cover of the song "Cycles". Anyone have it? I've been looking for it for hours after seeing this, and can't find it. Here's hoping! Thanks!
:LO( RIP TO ALL THE GREAT HOLLYWOOD PEOPLE!! YOU MADE ME LAUGH AND CRY ..THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!!
Do not grieve at the passing of mortality, for life's but a thing of terrible gravity. And the planets gravitate around you,and the stars shall dance about you,and the angels in heaven adore you,and the saints all stand and applaud you. So faraway,so faraway and yet so close.
I think they stop about two weeks into December and he died on Christmas. Ponti actually didn't die until January 2007, but this doesn't explain Imamura unless they thought he wasn't notable enough to Americans. If curious about Imamura you should probably see Pigs & Battleships and Profound Desire of the Gods.
My goodness! I've never viewed TCM's in memoriam compilation before. This tribute, and the inclusion of some many more talented individuals, puts the Academy Awards video montage to shame. Very moving.
I just updated the video summary to credit the studio that did the video. Their website is raygun dot com.
When I first posted this to youtube, Raygun didn't have the TCM Remembers 2006 video up yet, but they now have a high quality version of it up at their site.
This is wonderful, so it's posted as it is no longer on the TCM site. I've ordered the Robella, Solace for the Lonely CD that is playing on this. It's beautiful.
TCM did a great job this year with the song and the timing.

TCM always seems to find the perfect shots, bot in their year end remembrances, and in the shorter clips they often put up for individual performers

What a beautiful blend of music and film clips of moments. Bravo TCM and Robinella!

*sorry I got confused - I thought it was James Earls Jones cos they look so alike (no surprise there being father and son!)

I got a shock when I saw this. I didn't realise Paul Gleason and Robert Earl Jones had died.
So many great names in there too will be sadly missed.

This is my favorite, because of the song. I bought Robinella's album for this song, "Press On."
