  • I agree with "soulgriot" concerning the criticism that is simply a matter of taste and can be quite sickning that musicians continue to OVER THESBIANIZE things. I believe Shawn has a good solid balance of the essence of Sanborn mixed with Shawns sound. I know when I listen to anyone covering someone elses material I want to hear how close they can come to the original and then break off and make it their own, unless you've got some killer new inspiration for the tune.

  • Sax sound is too bright for me...you're an amazing player, but if you had different laquer then I'd praise you.

  • @Vapor419 He has 2 saxes so i think that one is just for songs like funk and other edgy stuff

  • @supermegafifi @Vapor419 1. He has multiple saxophones, since he endorses Stephanhouser. 2. That said, the lacquer of his horn is a custom lacquer. 3. The lacquer of the horn isn't gonna matter in what makes his horn sound bright or dark. It is first going to be the anatomy of the player, followed by the mouthpiece setup of the player (which has to vary extremely, so like a C* versus a Meyer). So if you don't like this, then too bad. Don't listen to him.

  • Please can anyone give me the chords for this piece?

  • @JohnCClinton Transcribe them.

  • Shawn, I hope that you ignore the criticism and just keep on handling your business! No true artist can please everyone. I find that a lot of people who critique (criticize) music don't have any idea what they're talking about.

  • Dear Sean, ithink you're skills as an improviser are at a very high a level,a level that i myself am striving for. That being said my comment is directed towards your "voice" i've heard what you've done in other stylistic situations and you ceartainly can play the style, but all i hear is the style and not YOU.With the superb command that you have i want to hear Sean and his life, outlook, joy's,dissapointments etc.

  • To be honest, I can't get past the drum machine. Kind of redundant with a real drummer and inhibits the music's ability to breathe. Bass player is good at what he does, but never-deviating from the slap thing in conjunction with the drum-machine makes for some "sensory sameness" in the groove department. Nice improvisation from everyone, but it comes in a stylistic package that does not please my particular sensibilities. If you're gonna play like that, step your context up. But who am I right?
