The Lithuanian contingent was actually one of the smallest in the Waffen SS, definitely far smaller than those from Latvia, Estonia, Croatia or USSR republics. The bravery of the Waffen SS in battle is well known and documented in war archives.

Germany by early 1945 had its entire infrastructure, factories, ports, road, railway and storage sites selectively destroyed by Allied bombings on a scale unseen throughout the war, hence the severe disruption in food supply. Something like 1 million tonnes of explosives were dropped on Germany alone by Allied bombers.

There was typhus in the work camps but the major killer in the other camps was poisonous gas.Train loads of people shipped to the camps exterminated on a daily basis. The largest Waffen-SS memorial is in Brazil, where a more than ten thousand retired. @candicesdad1 foreign volunteers and conscripts were only allowed to join the Waffen SS in 1940 and by the end of WW2, amounted to about 60% of Waffen SS members. The Lithuanian contingent was actually one of the smallest in the Waffen SS, definitely far smaller than those from Latvia, Estonia, Croatia or USSR republics. The bravery of the Waffen SS in battle is well known and documented in war archives.

What I'm trying to say is the Wehrmacht had its own rules and regulations on engagement just like any professional army. The vast majority of these soldiers certainly weren't barbarians as has been made out by the victorious Allies. And there will bound to be cases of soldiers taking matters into their own hands, which is totally unjustifiable to anyone.

Just read the accounts of the Nuremberg trials. Despite having full access to captured military documents, Allied prosecutors were unable to find a single written order from the German High Command authorizing the Wehrmacht to commit atrocites against civilians.

Films show perfectly happy detainees smiling and laughing at the troops. A few camps had a few sick detainees. Germans took excellent care of all detainees. RED CROSS had Very High praise for the care all detainees received. You should see a doctor about your hate towards others. You are in need of some meds to help you see reality. Hate is a condition of the immature and reflects a low IQ and poor self esteem.

By the VE-Day, the calorie intake had fallen to about 1,200 calories and deaths by starvation were reported among German civilians and POWs up until early 1948. @candicesdad1 but what were the primary cause of death among the camp inmates? It was starvation and diseases especially typhus due to the weakened immune system of the victims. Germany by early 1945 had its entire infrastructure, factories, ports, road, railway and storage sites selectively destroyed by Allied bombings on a scale unseen throughout the war, hence the severe disruption in food supply. Something like 1 million tonnes of explosives were dropped on Germany alone by Allied bombers.

There was typhus in the work camps but the major killer in the other camps was poisonous gas.Train loads of people shipped to the camps exterminated on a daily basis. The fumes wafting to the nearby villages who complained about the smell. The bombings on germany were well placed, it was to try and make the german population rise up against hitler and say no.

Hitler invaded France, but only the northern half and it was a strategic invasion, Hitler 's prime goal was to invade and control a large part of Russia. His plan included sending the Jews to Russia, which is where they all came from. His western moves were strategic moves to protect his flank while he invaded Russia.
