i would understand why Bruce's vocals are not at their best here, Somewhere in Time is a pretty strong album, and i think it was a bit hard on his voice.

This was an odd tour, Bruce was sick for a lot of it and they did not take a long enough break between this and the way to grueling World Slavery Tour. WST was murder on Bruce by the end of it, he recovered to do an amazing album but the Somewhere on Tour Tour was known to take its toll. There is a reason why this tour is the only one not released as a live recording. Listen to him on the Seventh Tour he is amazing. Bruce is amazing here still but you can hear the wear.

He seems to be having the same sort of vocal problems as blaze did during VirtualXI tour, I mean come on! night after night of hallowed and the trooper must really wear and tear your vocal chords.. Bruce is better than ever nowadays (my opinion) so hats off to him and every other maiden vocalist for what they have done for us fans! up the irons

No i dont think it was better than his modern day stuff at all Bruce is an awesome singer and and performer and has been for many years i just dont think that this was one of his better performances i have seen him and heard him perform much better than this over the years he performed a far better version of COTD at the download festival in 07(just been watching the DVD last week)
