  • ACTUALLY, i think the "power on reset" one can be done with memory cells, ands and invertors, just saying :P

  • It's not a transliteration, it's just him using Latin analogues for Cyrillic characters, regardless of alphabet, they appear exactly the same:

KOHCTPYKTOP = конструктор (Konstructor, as you pointed out)

  • In russian, this sounds like "Constukter," or constructor.

  • Cool, another game for techies. More of a game than Late Blight, heh.

Kind of reminds me of Robot Odyssey circuit design.

  • Great review! One thing I never understood about this game: why is a PNP gate "on" when there is zero bias at the base? Shouldn't it be on if there is negative voltage applied, and off with zero bias?

  • @kalanhai Yes, but this game simplifies the relationships between different voltage levels; instead of having true positive and negative, it simply has "on" (positive) and "off" (not positive), so it treats zero voltage as "negative."

  • i play the movie over and over again just to hear you say the name of the game xD

  • comunism!!!

  • @pipotinototo i like it anyway

  • strictly speaking, it's pronounced "constrooktor". but of course it isn't nearly as fun to pronounce it that way, comparing to your variant ^_^

  • It was hilarious trying to hear you pronounce KOHCTPKTOP, and it's even better to see you make a new video. This game looks simple yet complicated enough to have some mind-racking puzzles.

  • Its spelled "constructor" in cyrillic

  • NERD!!!!!!!!

But so am i so i kinda like this game

  • Ah, wonderful, seeing a LateBlt video in my subscriptions put a big smile on my face. I don't know anything about electrical engineering, but I might check this one out purely because I dabble in a lot of little bits of science and I'd kind of like to learn a few things on this particular subject.

  • Good to see you back LateBlt!

  • I have no idea how you run into obscure games like these, but it's quite fun. ^^

I'll give this one a go. I've only taken a few courses in digital electronics (which were awesome) before I traded physics, but the puzzles seem to be pretty basic.

  • The game gets quite a lot harder later on; the early puzzles get you started so that you can figure out how the game works, but by the end, the game's design and interface shortcomings become woefully apparent. Still, it can be lots of fun if you're into this kind of thing. :)

  • Oh, dear... I didn't realise how much I missed your soothing voice. Just sitting back, and watching you walk me through a game just... Its one of those, "Things are OK, just chill." type moments.

  • Why thank you. :) I try to be fairly laid-back in real life, although like everyone else, I have my own unique hang-ups...

  • Interesting demonstration. Most of what you say in this video is Greek to me (that's right, I'm one of those unsophisticated brutes who always assumed that "electrical engineering" was just a fancy alternative term for magic). That said, the basic gameplay comes across really well.

On a side note, given the charming Communist theme of the game it's a bit puzzling that the newspaper in the background is dated 1994 (seeing as the USSR dissolved three years earlier)...

  • I believe this game takes place in an alternate history in which Communism took over the West. A few of the missions come with brief TV program listings suggesting an alternate history including a U.S. president who never was. There's a sort of plot behind the game, but it's extremely thin; just a few clippings and notes, plus the photograph at the end.

  • Yeah!

  • russian game :P

  • There actually used to be a series of toys, for children, that included a set of screws, nuts, and metal parts, with which you could build some random stuff. You could practiclly build whatever you want, as long as you had enough parts.

It was kinda like LEGO, but a lot more advanced.

  • I think I remember those... I played with them for a while myself, but my interest was always in the electrical/electronic more than the mechanical.

  • Mechano :)

  • It's pronounced "Konstruktor". Means "engineering designer" in russian.

  • Spasiba!

  • Vsegda pozhalujsta, tovarish LateBlt!

  • I would have known that.

  • Ah ha! So Lateblt is an EE?

  • Sort of. I don't currently work in the field, although I have in the past.

  • A full Let's Play may come at some point in the future... For now I'm still making small one-off videos like this.
