Why did turel's eyes and voice changed? i counted three voices, his,a lighter one and another one. I heard he was taken from kain's time period and hound into what you see now in the video and who are the champions?
@reynaldo2063 His eyes changed because he was posessed by the Hylden. The other 2 voices you counted were from the two Hylden that took control over Turel and, after that, took control of Raziel.
@reynaldo2063 We don't know who they are. We only know that they posessed Turel, passed over to Raziel and were (I think) the main reason why Raziel killed Kain (or tried to do so). After Raziels fight with Kain his eyes never changed again so I guess he got rid of them.

The devolution came from Kain. His soul was poisoned by Nupraptor's madness and he unwittingly passed it onto his sons through the method of their raising. As to why he did not devolve himself, there can be many reasons, like his pillar guardianship, the heart of darkness or maybe just because he was patient zero. Raziel would have devolved into an ugly bat if he hadn't been given a bath, too.

Thankfully for Raziel, he was cast into the Abyss and "killed" before the transformation could overcome him - otherwise he'd have turned out like the rest.

He was resurrected by the Necromancer Mortanius who used the very heart of Janos Audron, the oldest vampire ever. That and the fact that he was the Scion of Balance. I don't know what would've happened to Raziel, but he might have been the most advanced since he had past up the others in evolution and he was the first born. The thing is, that as Kain created more "offspring," the weaker they got.
Next to Raziel. Turel was the strongest of the brothers so it follows that his mutation would be more defined and less monstrous than the other brothers like melchiah and zephon (the weakest brothers) who were just mutated monsters.
BTW I'm pretty sure Turel is either blind or very near sighted, thats why his sense of smell is increased and so is his hearing (thats ehy the drums hurt him).
"I know that voice" that line supports his blindness as well as when he smells Raziel and recognises him.
@2010metalmaster he isnt blind it just happens to the victims of the hylden for example when janos was possed by thr hylden lord his eyes tunred white and after this video mortainus gets possed also and his eyes turned white
He's not blind but he IS partially sighted (as confirmed in Prima's official guide). His sight was failing while his other senses got stronger (kinda like how Rahab gained a resistance to water at the cost of becoming vulnerable to sunlight), probably cause he's been in the dark so long.

@Scorpino123 The cultists in the Avernus Cathedral summoned him from the future, thinking him their god. They don't know he's in the future, but there's a hidden room in Avernus in Blood Omen 1 that lets you go down to the underbelly and read about this in a few books and runes there.

If he had been more rational or if Raziel had of had a way to force the Hylden out of him I think Turel would have become a ally, or adleast not a enemy. It would be interesting in the next game if the explain who or what summoned him, i personaly doubt a buncha cultist could have.. maybe the hylden did it.

Truly the greatest acting in a game series, ever. LoK had amazing talent on it's side, something that most games are only now starting to have more and more.
Raziel first becomes crazy after Janos is dead right in front on him in the sarafan age after time & time ago Raziel returns normal (about his mind) and escapes from the Underworld,after Turel's death his last brother he becomes worst,a Psychopath,a monster. After he killed Kain,he becomes normal,the hylden inside of him disseapears. Man all of Nosgoth whants Raziel to bee MAD! This is unfair i hate when they're playing psycho with Raz
So the gist of this, I believe, is that Turel's body is possessed by the Hylden Lord (green glowy eyes, changed voice), and the Hylden Lord is who summoned Turel from presumably the original Soul Reaver timeline (hence why he's not in that game).
@wayne62682 nonono. Turel was brought by Lady Azimuth the Planer, Matriarch of Avernus and Guardian of the Pillar of Dimension. Just like Kain mentions back in Blood Omen 1, she liked to summon exotic creatures not only from other dimensions, but from other times too. And what's possesing Turel is three different Hylden, that managed to enter Nosgoth using Turel as a "durable vessel". The Hylden Lord was currently inside Mortanius.
has anyone ever noticed how when turel says free and when his soul goes to raziel a green mist appears also that is the hylden leader and tahts how raziel got possed and killed kain becuz the hylden leader needed the scion of balance out of the way so he can destroy the pillars
@jakespnl463 yeah i never quite got that, clearly Raziel become possesed but never do they show him solveing this problem and while Raziel Killing Kain somewhat seems as if it was the influence of the Hylden, Raziel fully intended to kill Kain from the start! Perhaps i missed something, but that has always bothered me.
Well, Turel is much better than Melchiah, Zephon, Rahab isn't too bad, same with Dumah. But when you have sharpness all the way up on your television and play SR1, you'll scare the living crap out of yourself.
That's exactly my fuckin point... I would dig it because you think of the badass levels like The Underworld, The Drowned Abby, Sunlight Glyph, and even Kain's Empire... huge levels, than take the Boss monsters Zephon, Rahab, Dumah... all badass looking in old classic, and all good ideas for the new game... it's a game with huge potential. No mistake about it ^_^
I already found out that if I turn my TV's shaprness all the way up, it looks like Melchiah is on the PS3. You DON'T want to see it. Trust me. When I get the chance, I'll use my camera to take a picture of the sharpness.
@SergioSource well I did read in a magazine article from Game Informer: They were discussing the flow of remakes for the new systems, from devil may cry's reboot to a handful of others... They discussed a top 10 list choice of games that "Should" in all fairness get a crack at the new hardware we got cooking... and Legacy of Kain, was # 5. Personally with that in mind, I think a nice re-vamp of Soul Reaver, or a fresh Blood Omen RPG style game, OH those would be off the chain for sales for sure!
Semi- Spoiler (I think) I think this is the future, Raziel gets sent from the past to the future. I think Mobius the Timestreamer had something to do with it.

this was perhaps one of the most chilling moments in the lok series - the meeting of turel.. i'm somewhat confused - what did raziel mean by "the others were grotesque but..." but what..?! you are eaven more grotesque..? you are enormous..? you are the most animal-like..? WHAT..?!
I can only assume that his form was more "divine" as he stayed mostly vampiric. in rekation to the others, rahab,zephon, malchiah...he still looked lie a vampire roughly instead of the twisted abominations like his other brothers who changed FAR too much
Kain doesn't DEvolve because he was the last of the vampire born from the heart of darkness. it is suggested by the writers that Kain raised his lieutenants from bloodletting (which was in between Blood Omen and Soul Reaver 1).
He gives Raziel the ability to use telekinesis. (Previously he is only able to blast enemies such as the Reaver Bolt provided, after this encounter he can pick them up, hold them, and throw them around like Kain can.)
I really like how the LOK team has a knack for setting the right insturmental theme for the boss battles.
However, I think the game would of had a more positive diversity if the musical theme was changed between landmark locations and not so much of overusing the "necropolis" theme.
Like I'm not saying it's was bad or anything but I think it would of been more suggested in a opinion perspective. : )
I think it has to do with Nupraptors madness that affected all the guardians including Kain. The brothers eventual devolving into beast I think is a reflection of the madness that was carried over from Kain. I also think that if Raziel had not been thrown into the lake of the dead that he would have eventually turned into a beastie as well. Just my take on it.

Yes we do - look again. When Raziel walks towards his own crypt, it shows a view from in front of him, with him walking towards the camera and the camera pointed at the door - to the left of the door is Turel's crypt.
When i watched this and realized what it meant it sent shivers down my spine, i remember a level on Blood Omen 1 where you fight your way through Avernus Cathedral as Kain, such an epic story.
wait these guys arent evolved they have been cursed and corrupted as would raziel...but instead of being cursed in to some kinda creature kain casted raziel into the abyss to become less ugly and more powerful....thus kain didnt betray raziel........he gave raziel an advantage of some sort
He did mutate a little since he looks different in Blood Omen. I guess since he the balance guardian, maybe he has some sort of ability that helps him to stay balanced between Hylden and vampire.
I though Defiance story got so complicated that it was hard to care any more.
Just a question - If Raziel was first a Sarafan, later vampire and finally the Soul Reaver, which was originally vampire weapon, how come he was also a Hylden champion? Why would a vampire transform to reasemble a Hylden?
He was the Hylden champion in that he resurrected Janos, which would (without Kain's intervention) have heralded the revenge of the Hylden race. He enabled their potential victory.
It's explained at the start of Soul Reaver that the Vampires created by Kain experience mutations as they age. These Vampires have been alive for thousands of years when Raziel fights them, so they've been mutating for a very long time.
It is Nupraptor's madness that corrupted Kain, and thus his spirit. Because all of his "sons" have a bit of his soul they too share the corruption and this makes them evolve, or rather devolve to this after many centuries.
one question... when raziel kills turel he gains his dark gifts... but the thing that bothers me is you can see raziels eyes turn a hylden green so... is there any chance perhaps the hylden inhabited his body then?

So the gist of this, I believe, is that Turel's body is possessed by the Hylden Lord (green glowy eyes, changed voice), and the Hylden Lord is who summoned Turel from presumably the original Soul Reaver timeline (hence why he's not in that game).

@wayne62682 nonono. Turel was brought by Lady Azimuth the Planer, Matriarch of Avernus and Guardian of the Pillar of Dimension. Just like Kain mentions back in Blood Omen 1, she liked to summon exotic creatures not only from other dimensions, but from other times too. And what's possesing Turel is three different Hylden, that managed to enter Nosgoth using Turel as a "durable vessel". The Hylden Lord was currently inside Mortanius.

has anyone ever noticed how when turel says free and when his soul goes to raziel a green mist appears also that is the hylden leader and tahts how raziel got possed and killed kain becuz the hylden leader needed the scion of balance out of the way so he can destroy the pillars

@jakespnl463 yeah i never quite got that, clearly Raziel become possesed but never do they show him solveing this problem and while Raziel Killing Kain somewhat seems as if it was the influence of the Hylden, Raziel fully intended to kill Kain from the start! Perhaps i missed something, but that has always bothered me.

Well, Turel is much better than Melchiah, Zephon, Rahab isn't too bad, same with Dumah. But when you have sharpness all the way up on your television and play SR1, you'll scare the living crap out of yourself.

That's exactly my fuckin point... I would dig it because you think of the badass levels like The Underworld, The Drowned Abby, Sunlight Glyph, and even Kain's Empire... huge levels, than take the Boss monsters Zephon, Rahab, Dumah... all badass looking in old classic, and all good ideas for the new game... it's a game with huge potential. No mistake about it ^_^

I already found out that if I turn my TV's shaprness all the way up, it looks like Melchiah is on the PS3. You DON'T want to see it. Trust me. When I get the chance, I'll use my camera to take a picture of the sharpness.

@SergioSource well I did read in a magazine article from Game Informer: They were discussing the flow of remakes for the new systems, from devil may cry's reboot to a handful of others... They discussed a top 10 list choice of games that "Should" in all fairness get a crack at the new hardware we got cooking... and Legacy of Kain, was # 5. Personally with that in mind, I think a nice re-vamp of Soul Reaver, or a fresh Blood Omen RPG style game, OH those would be off the chain for sales for sure!

I can only assume that his form was more "divine" as he stayed mostly vampiric. in rekation to the others, rahab,zephon, malchiah...he still looked lie a vampire roughly instead of the twisted abominations like his other brothers who changed FAR too much

Kain doesn't DEvolve because he was the last of the vampire born from the heart of darkness. it is suggested by the writers that Kain raised his lieutenants from bloodletting (which was in between Blood Omen and Soul Reaver 1).

He gives Raziel the ability to use telekinesis. (Previously he is only able to blast enemies such as the Reaver Bolt provided, after this encounter he can pick them up, hold them, and throw them around like Kain can.)

I really like how the LOK team has a knack for setting the right insturmental theme for the boss battles.
However, I think the game would of had a more positive diversity if the musical theme was changed between landmark locations and not so much of overusing the "necropolis" theme.
Like I'm not saying it's was bad or anything but I think it would of been more suggested in a opinion perspective. : )

I think it has to do with Nupraptors madness that affected all the guardians including Kain. The brothers eventual devolving into beast I think is a reflection of the madness that was carried over from Kain. I also think that if Raziel had not been thrown into the lake of the dead that he would have eventually turned into a beastie as well. Just my take on it.

Yes we do - look again. When Raziel walks towards his own crypt, it shows a view from in front of him, with him walking towards the camera and the camera pointed at the door - to the left of the door is Turel's crypt.

He did mutate a little since he looks different in Blood Omen. I guess since he the balance guardian, maybe he has some sort of ability that helps him to stay balanced between Hylden and vampire.

Just a question - If Raziel was first a Sarafan, later vampire and finally the Soul Reaver, which was originally vampire weapon, how come he was also a Hylden champion? Why would a vampire transform to reasemble a Hylden?

He was the Hylden champion in that he resurrected Janos, which would (without Kain's intervention) have heralded the revenge of the Hylden race. He enabled their potential victory.

It's explained at the start of Soul Reaver that the Vampires created by Kain experience mutations as they age. These Vampires have been alive for thousands of years when Raziel fights them, so they've been mutating for a very long time.

Exactly right. They didn't reveal themselves, rather inflaming his anger and making sure that anything Kain said would be taken the wrong way.
That the Hylden were influencing and empowering Raziel was made clear when he cast Kain into the exile-realm the Hylden had been shunted into.
It had to move then, inhabiting the Heart of Darkness--Janos Aldrin's heart--so that he would be possessed from the moment he was revived.
Is it any wonder Janos was suicidal when he was restored in BO 2??
