slow 0-60 is the gearing on the audi if the electronics allow it do a 2nd gear start with tiptronic in manual. you can do the same with a 05 touareg V6 with some funny results
Although it's not really an apple to apple comparison, it was interesting .... I think comparing the Patriot and Compass would get more constructive comments?
@NicholasTheKeyHolder i test drove a patriot sport 4x4 in 2007 and was impressed. when switching it to manual shift and using the gears going down hill it was better at engine braking than my 3.7 liberty.
I don't ever think the same person who's considering the Q5 is going out the next day to test drive the jeep patriot so not exactly a good comparison I wouldve compared the Mercedes GLK 350 against the Q5 , or Kia sportage and the patriot
guys chill out, if they really want to do a review like this, let them. In the end, we still get to see a review. If you dont like their reviews, then unsuscribe
Dude, you really need to get to "know" the cars before you comment on them.
The Audi has the radios' volume control on the steering wheel, and the rear seats (unless you push the front all the way back) have tons of room. My mom is 5'10 and I'm 6'4, I can sit in the back seat with a good 3 inches of legroom to spare.
To be honest, the review was alright, but your general lack of knowladge ruined it for me.
he said, "much more fancier". and how can you compare a V6 to a 4cyl??? the patriot is a 4 cyl correct? shouldve compared a liberty limited to the audi, not this. what a waste
I like the review, as a Jeep patriot owner, I really understand his point of view and he's right. In my case, I'm needed a very cheap car so the jeep pariot sport was interesting. Paid 17k CAD for a pariot sport with some options. If I had the 45k budget, I would DEFENATLY go with the audi!!
I guess taste is personal whether it is good or bad. Personally, I would choose the Patriot hands down over the Audi even in a situation where money was no object. For those who prefer the Audi I respect that; you are probably the majority.
@ErixReeze Please note that we have ZERO interest in your opinion if you can't express it without being a total comment troll. All mean spirited comments will be deleted and you will be blocked...so don't even bother.
Although I do like your reviews overall, some of these puzzle me. It might be fun to pit those two together, but they are two way different vehicles with way different buyers and way different price ranges. They should have been two separate videos.
Agree with the majority of everyone else... this is a puzzling comparison. Comparing this with a Cadillac SRX, Subaru Tribeca or maybe something like a GMC Terrain would be more suited. Someone buying either of these, definately is not in the morket for the other one... especially not brand new...
I'm not in to SUV's but if I'd have the budget and the choise always Audi, Jeep isn't really that good in quality when my best friend drove over a dune with his sisters Wrangler the front axis broke in to 2 pieces (Abu Dhabi dessert)... something that shouldn't have happen with a 4 wheel drive, another time we all went to the dessert in a group of car someone driving a jeep over dune lost cooling liquid after....
@jaldrich92 Actually 15 people like this video and 10 dislike it. That's not 90 percent. Maybe you should stop being so negative and get your facts straight before you comment again.
My 82 Toyota was a semi 4x4.............I can only imagine what they make now lol. Jeep continues to deliver power to all 4 wheels vs a " import all wheel drive mumbo jumbo" I will stack my 88 AMC Jeep Pioneer Jeep Cherokee vs any new "all wheel drive" import! No contest. You have mud puddle type drive train vs the rock climbing type drive train Jeep delivers..
I think a better comparison would be a Ford Escape or Kia Sportage vs the Audi. Every one knows that Chrysler didn't have their shit together until they where bought by Fiat. The next year model of this car if it survives will be much better. Do the comparison then. The Patriot for 30k is laughable.
@noufri7 And you are quite childish, having thoughts of audi so high, that it can't be even compared with sense?. Why you think it's so much wrong compare a ferrari and prius? I'm sure that Jeep and Audi, both have their good sides. Here in Europe, Audi is far less respected than the true cars, BMW or Mercedes. BMW and Mercedes don't share everything with Skoda's and Seats like Audis do. ;) Audis are nice, but you need a drop back on earth.
@noufri7 Wow thanks for letting me know. I thought they were identical. You mean that Jeeps doesn't build the Audi? It's good to know that wise people like you are keeping me honest. Keep up the good work. I'm sure their are other retards on youtube that you can educate with your gentle wisdom and kind words.
That pat is an FDII. Put them both off road or in snowy conditions on road and the pat will RAPE that audi. They both might be 4x4, but not all 4 wheel drive is created equal.
nobody needs all that crap in the audi. That thing is such an unnecessary desparate housewives "car" in my opinion.
The jeep is good on gas, has full time AWD with 4x4 lock mode. And I just saw an '07 LIMITED for sale for $18k with only 20k miles on it. You can have a 2011 patriot with FDII 4x4 for about $22k. The other $23k you would spend on the Audi is just unnecessary BS
And all jeeps are not pussyfied. That have just added slightly more pussyfied jeeps to serve others' purposes.
TFLcar.com, you should strike some balance in your comparisons and be more responsible with your reviews. How can you possibly compare an Audi to a Jeep? As acknowledged in your video the Jeep obviously costs much less than the Audi. Try comparing the Audi with an equivalent brand that costs just as much. If you don't have the money can you stay in a 5 star hotel? As much as this review is concerned, it is very much condescending towards people who are on a budget.
OH... and you can adjust the back row by 4 inches back or forward... I'm guessing you had it all the way forward when you said there's little legroom in the Q5
The rear seats in the Q5 move back and forward by the way, and looking at other car reviews, it wasn't so hard to figure that out. In fact several seem to have at least 6-foot guys reviewing it and appeared to have heaps of back seat room.
Anyway the comparison between the two are pretty irrelevant - a person in the market for either wouldn't consider the other car.
Jeep patriot is not 30k. As someone stated below you can get a limited for about 27k loaded. A trail rated edition you can configure for as little as 20,700 with base features. This comparison is pretty lame.
this comparison makes no sense before even starting to watch the vid. compare the audi to a 4runner, pilot, highlander, or wut maybe a jeep grand cherokee. U FOOL
@mrbigtime81 people say interior and engine power is a bit weak, but u cant get another awd compact for around $20k. the next near jeep worthy are only honda and toyota which are more like 28k with all wheel drive.
I feel bad for the sucker who pays $30K for the Patriot. You can get an FDII model fully loaded for about $25K! Let's see that Audi crawl some trails or take on some high water. And as far as crossovers are concerned, Patriot is at the top of it's class in gas mileage and 4WD capability (beating the CR-V, Rav4, Escape). People buy a Jeep because they want A JEEP and off-road capability. People buying an Audi enjoy comfort, style, and staying on road -- but mostly showing off their money.
he should have kept with the 5-speed manual. its quicker, more fun, more fuel efficient, doesnt stay in 5000 rpm when u accelerate (thats why i hate CVT's), and $1000 cheaper. its a win win win win win situation...
@bg1379 That 31k is for the Limited Patriot with all the creature feature extras (heated leather seats, NAV, etc) versus 45k for a cramped Crossover with similar options. And that 2.4L was barely slower than the Audi's wasteful 3.2 V6 (where'd bragged 270HP all go? into sounding slightly better?) Patriots in US for 2010 start at $18K, Q5s start at $37K. The point TFL made: Patriot gives you a lot on a budget, but if you have flaming money and are shorter than 6 feet tall throw it at an Audi :-D
I'll be honest with you: Nearly every major automotive review team has said that all of Jeep's offerings are way below par except for this guy. The interior is terrible- it isn't more durable as you presume, and is why there is a difference in price (not to mention the much bigger engine-his low 0-60 is b/c he's at altitude, interior, driving dynamics, etc). When it comes down to it, he absolutely should not be testing cars from different segments and implying that one's superior.
I partially agree, this is an apple and oranges comparison. However, sometimes we have to choose between one or the other. In no way was it meant to be a contest! Fact is, those auto groups you speak of, essentially paid to give their sponsors better reviews than the sponsors' competitors. The Patriot for many is a very functional and affordable vehicle with a simple, but effective design, that was the reviewers point. How many nay-sayers ever drive what they criticize? They only say, "They say"
Have you driven the CR-V, Rav4, Outlander, Rouge, Grand Vitara, AND the Patriot? Absolutely not- only those who we trust to review cars have driven them all and can compare them all. And, c'mon, what you are saying is ridiculous- Jeep advertises with almost all of them and almost (if not) always gets dead last. Do you really think that Toyota, Honda, and Nissan are all in the pockets of the reviewers to the exact same extent, making 1, 2, and 3 as a result?
@bg1379 oh, and there is no 1/2" interior gaps like you perceived, tat is te camera angle looking into the thin slit of the airbag cover. I don't mind inexpensive plastic, it's sturdier than leather and easier to maintain. Yes... the plastic is rather sturdy, I've taken pieces off to install a CB mount... Besides, I'm glad if costs were being cut on this Jeep, it was with aesthetics, and not cutting back on brakes and critical operating components...Jeep goes where I want it, WHEN I want to.
