He's absolutely right..DOYLE..but the reality is either try and compromise integrety..he has a Family..and he's that stubborn..you could prove on the road how authentic you are..once you sell out your shows..Sorry..Doyle think about your Family Dude!
@novanine9 damn!!...who are you? Doyle is what's wrong with music??? I beg to differ, Doyle bramhall sounds like.................FUCKING DOYLE BRAMHALL period....dude let me know how your ear transplant turns out? I'll pay!!!
@MrJacksonvill dude... do you think Doyles gonna be on welfare? i think not. gauranteed his daughters and wife are comfy~!!...btw he's on tour with Sheryl crow right now.......making money, did you ever think some people "don't" want too be billonaires....geez!
Mr. oHelms...may I buy you a beer/joint/shot/pull/snort/bump/drink anywhere you may be? To physically complete this transaction it would make it soooo much easier if you wouldn't mind making it in South East Asia, but if need be I can eventually make my way towards the States to even my debt. Thank you sir for being a patriot...known or not.
I love your small Youtube outlook on diversity (I'm sure your outlook is vast in comparison, but that's all I have to compare).
I would love to see a segment about women in the music industry. I think they are largely ignored and not taken seriously. There are many fine, and talented women artists out there with something to say. Why are they always silenced?
Unfortunately, in today's bland world of stereotyped pop trash, the female gender is used only for its sexual value to a vast & misinformed chunk of American men who've never heard Billie Holiday, Ari Up, Ella Fitzgerald, Rose Stone, etc. I for one am an American male who listens to excellent male and female artists like Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, & so many others that aren't garbage like what the mainstream mindlessly hurls at us today.
@oHelmslyo I agree with you ..now funny for me as I was grwing up in the 70's I've listened to the radio so much, thats the reason why I fell in Love with the music industry...now fast forward I'am in a group that is considered to be doing Fast Food music. Where I work with people who are industry driven..but we make money..am I totally happy with it No..but I got paid.Times have simply changed..and I'am not one of those 20 year old baby's they promote..
@oHelmslyo So true! Just look at Shakira as a perfect example!! When she started she sounded like a Spanish Alanis Morsette. She was alternative, great (fantastic, really!) lyrics, played guitar, had black dread locks and red streaks! She wore pants and was a rocker! Now, her music sucks, she is blond and shakes her ass and spreads her legs. The music is dumb down and horrible! Look up "Creo" (original music) by Shakyra for one sample of a before.
@ykaiilah Another rather surprising example: Stefani Germanotta. When I found out her story, mind = blown. Understandably, learning about her "before" pissed me off even more than when I had the perception that there was no "before".
Actually you are kind of making my point. The only females in the music industry are the ones who are "manufactured." As far as real, autonoumous, song writing musicians go, they are mostly male, and the females are far and few between. My point is, females are not taken as seriously as males are. They are treated as if theya re not capable of producing something as meaningful. Give me a female equivalent of U2 or Bruce Springsteen and then we'll talk.
@Joyness333 Uhmm Zooey Deschanel, Kimya Dawson, just to name a few. Maby there not as famous as Bono or Bruce but their talented and independent woman.
@Joyness333 sorry didn't mean to offend. i understand your point. But since the 80's and the arrival of Madonna there's only been a handful of women artists who were known to the public and what do you know they were all fake too.
@bringbackthe1960sppl It's odd how "going underground" can be a "double-edged sword" ..Going underground can be considered a form of "retreat / surrender" ..and yet if enough people do so, it inevitably becomes the "norm"...ex. the Fab Four started as "undergrounders" back in Liverpool.
that singer is a true rockstar

My boy Doyle has that infinite groove in his wicked Stevie Wonder rendition reminiscent of - Jimi H. Ya I said it.
