My grandfather (German) 1900-1942 died in a concentration camp, 'a communist'. Otto was 14 after WW1, saw lots of bloodshed. In 1936 he refused to join the Nazi party so he was sent to a concentration camp and killed, he left behind a wife and 6 children, poor his wife worked making guns. Horrible times

I mean, wasn't that practice necessary if you wanted to keep resources for those who were healthier? They all spoke German, and they all told stories years afterwards about how the German guards not only openly and freely talked about the deliberate attempt to exterminate the Jews, but they bragged about it in a chillingly casual manner. One guard even complained that he regretted the Nazis weren't given enough time to completely finish the job.

As a child in the late 50's and early 60's the Holocaust was a "Matter of Fact". Anyone who would deny the Holocaust would have been seen as odd since it had just happened a few years before. There is some dishonesty in historical accuracy when it comes to reporting the Holocaust. The Watchtower (magazine of Jehovah Witnesses) did an excellent article showing that in reality, it was a "Catholic" crusade against unbelievers (which included the Jews), as Bible Students and Orthodox were treated worst in many cases to the Jews.

In the movie, "Schindler's List" all of the women in Auschwitz who have already have their hair cut off, and stripped naked were forced into the showers, which I always thought were gas chambers. However the showers were actually showers, and not gas chambers. Is this historically accurate, because the movie is based on a true story, as there really was an Oskar Schindler who saved the lives of thousands of Jews.

I visited Auschwitz-Birkenau last week. It was a shock but I find it even more shocking that there still are people who claim it never happened! The evidence is indisputable. If you are in doubt, I recommend reading Shlomo Venezia's book Sonderkommando as well as visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau. Seeing the place, the huge number of empty cans of Zyklon B, all the documents and pictures... It happened. And the "SS-Obersturmbannführer" Rudolf Höss told in details everything they had done in A-B.

My grandfather (German) 1900-1942 died in a concentration camp, 'a communist'. Otto was 14 after WW1, saw lots of bloodshed. In 1936 he refused to join the Nazi party so he was sent to a concentration camp and killed, he left behind a wife and 6 children, poor his wife worked making guns. Horrible times

This is a touching, and convincing, Video. It's a shame that we have to waste a moment arguing to convince people that the Holocaust DID occur. As an American born in the 50's I had Uncles and other men in my life that were Veterans. They all knew what went on in the Germany they conquered and occupied. Why would they even lie? Even though many Americans were anti-Semitic even they did not "deny" the Holocaust. Denying could only happen after the WW2 generation grew old. G-d Bless Israel.

@randy109 I had an uncle and my dad had two cousins in the U.S. army unit that liberated Dachau. They all spoke German, and they all told stories years afterwards about how the German guards not only openly and freely talked about the deliberate attempt to exterminate the Jews, but they bragged about it in a chillingly casual manner. One guard even complained that he regretted the Nazis weren't given enough time to completely finish the job.

As a child in the late 50's and early 60's the Holocaust was a "Matter of Fact". Anyone who would deny the Holocaust would have been seen as odd since it had just happened a few years before. There is some dishonesty in historical accuracy when it comes to reporting the Holocaust. The Watchtower (magazine of Jehovah Witnesses) did an excellent article showing that in reality, it was a "Catholic" crusade against unbelievers (which included the Jews), as Bible Students and Orthodox were treated worst in many cases to the Jews.

Hitler, Himmler, Eichmann, Hoess never harbored the same hatred for catholics as they did for Jews. 1.1 Million Jews were murdered at Auschwitz Birkenau with the Final solution taking 6 million Jews in total. In my class for the past month we have been reading about this and we read the diary of Anne frank. but to only think that Anne frank was one person. One or so many people killed. This is not true, my great grandmother was sent to dachau, they didn't exterminate people in these places, at least 70% of the people sent to these camps weren't even jews. it was a terrible time for all people. the moral of this war has not been learnt, it to me being the infallibility of mans mind towards authority that must be acknowledged. There were at least 8 different places where people were gassed at the Auschwitz complex. Kremas 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, the basement of cell block 11, the little red house, and the little white house. Auschwitz had 52 cremation ovens, a sonderkommando said they once stuffed 8 bodies into one retort, to attract allied fliers with the smoke.
At Madanek the Nazi's shot 18,000 people, mostly Jews in one day.
There were over 1000 camps and sub-camps. Auschwitz alone had 48 sub-camps.

I can believe some hero might sneak his way into Auschwitz every night, only to keep silent about it for 60 years... but I cannot believe that, as per the story, he exchanged places with a noble inmate who was prepared to go back to Auschwitz himself each day after eating chocolate and meat at a alleged POW camp 'adjacent' to Auschwitz.
The BBC article that told Avey's story last week had a photo captioned 'over a million died in Aischwitz', but Avey himself said 3 million.

as inhumane as it sounds the gas chambers were essentially the most logical solution for the nazi final solution. If hitler wanted the complete annilation of the jewish race from europe, 20th century technology could provide the most efficient results.

What I can not figure out is where the Germans found the minds that invented, constructed and staffed these camps. Why were these SS et al allowed to live after the war. They should have been hunted down and hanged at the scene of their crimes down to the last male female guards like the animals they were. If only for the mothers and children in these photos...

In the movie, "Schindler's List" all of the women in Auschwitz who have already have their hair cut off, and stripped naked were forced into the showers, which I always thought were gas chambers. However the showers were actually showers, and not gas chambers. Is this historically accurate, because the movie is based on a true story, as there really was an Oskar Schindler who saved the lives of thousands of Jews.

I have never understood how any sentinent, lucid person with an ounce of understanding could deny the holocaust happened. True it was 'not only' the Jews who suffered, but does that diminish their suffering or the suffering of any victim? Never! This event - perpetrated over years - was one of the greatest State sanctioned, precisely planned and intended, industrialised mass murders ever commited on non-combatent persons. I visited Auschwitz-Birkenau last week. It was a shock but I find it even more shocking that there still are people who claim it never happened! The evidence is indisputable. If you are in doubt, I recommend reading Shlomo Venezia's book Sonderkommando as well as visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau. Seeing the place, the huge number of empty cans of Zyklon B, all the documents and pictures... It happened. And the "SS-Obersturmbannführer" Rudolf Höss told in details everything they had done in A-B.

I see evidence of an overcrowded work camp and misery but no gas chambers. Look at the pictures without audio commentary and ignore the subtitles. Someone is telling you what is happening, but you don't see it. Starving people in concentration camps ive seen, prisoners shot and tossed into pits i've seen. Where are the gas chambers in action? Only in Hollywood movies.

For another, it involved many centuries, not just 5 years. For a third, it was not the intent as was the case with the Shoah, to kill them. Rather, the death resulted from the trade in human flesh. Odd is comparing the two, as some do. One may as well speak of child prostitution in the same paragraph.
