  • I love stuffed cabbage but I forgot how to make them. Go figure. That is a gorgeous quilt. Your mother was really young. My mom had just turned 45 when sh died and she died 1969. You will cherish that quilt as long as you live and I am sure Joshua after you are gone. Your sister is so talented. Hugs.

  • I needed a dose of my Melissa so I dropped in to see you. Still lovin my jewelery. <3

What a heartfelt gift so full of love. I would have cried as well. Sisters are the best.

  • That quilt was absolutely beautiful and so full of you & your Sisters memories! That is one of the greatest presents I've ever seen! I heard you say your sisters name is Paula. That's my sister's name too! :) We had cabbage here at my house too as tradition. I am the only that eats it. My Fiance does not like it at all. So it was more for me & I enjoyed the whole pot by myself. Hehe! We got a lil snow here awhile back & I hear there's more to come soon. Hope ya'll are doing well. Love & Mooches!

  • We has cabbage and black eyed peas too. I love quilts and that's how we make ours.. using old clothes and such, makes them so special! Beautiful!!!

  • Hi melissa Im so glad you guys are doing well. That quilt is the sweetest thing ever, what a wonderful thing to have. You actually have winter its been unusually warm her in calif. its been in the 60s since christmas. Not that im complaining lol.

  • Melissa your quilt is stunning! What a marvellous idea to use your mom's clothing and how special that instantly made the quilt. Your sister did a wonderful job and as soon as you took it out of the box, I know it became a treasure. The back is very special. I would have cried as well! oh my, look at all your snow! Yes, winter has arrived! -roc

  • That's got to be one of the most thoughtful things I've ever seen. I especially think the stuff on the back is really wonderful. All those memories. Wow!

  • Beautiful quilt, and a lot of memories wrapped up in it. I suspect it could keep you very cozy on a cold winter day.

I have a quilt my mother made, and when she gave it to me I had to promise that I would NOT "keep it safe on a shelf in the closet." It's been on my bed for the 30+ years since, a constant, quiet reminder of her.

You stirred a long forgotten memory. As a kid, we had cabbage on New Years, and my Grandmother would hide a quarter in it. Whoever got it had good luck for the year

  • A keepsake for sure! Oh your mom was way to young to lose he life :( That must have been so hard on you girls. I love the quilt just precious! Burrr the snow! So nice to see you last night!
