I love the sound of a Huey flying. There is nothing in the world that sounds and flies like a Huey. When I hear a Huey flying near my house, I have to go outside and watch them.
How much does it cost an hour / a mile to fly a huey? Seems unbelievably prohibitively expensive even to think of owning one or flying one. Esp. considering all the flying lessons you are required to take and all the maintenance you have to do. A rich mans sport. Too bad. The more I look into aviation, the more thoroughly I become disgusted with it, its for the domain of the filthy rich only.
@cobrachoppergirl Join the military, most pilots have military time. Id say earning 5,000hrs on someone elses dime is great and well worth the inconviences of being in the military.
2002 we put an H Model Huey into the Smithsonian Museum of American History, Price of Freedom exhibit (14th St and the National Mall) as tribute to all who served in the military go to search for americashuey. also we created a non-profit to help seriously wounded disabled veterans
search for huey091foundation We provided 23 iBOT Mobility Systems to wounded soldiers
I work with a vietnam vet. These days he's an engineer. But back then, he did 2.5 tours as a sapper in the australian army. Which was the most dangerous job. crawling down holes and using explosives. I was on the phone talking to a friend about a war museum and he heard me say 'huey'. i didnt know he was a vet till he said i spent a lot of time in those. I should really interview him about his experience.
ive been in huey... Classic.. I can fly one in flight simulator.. i got 2 die cast models.. took me years to find one.. you'll love to see one lands and takes off.. The sounds just amazing.. Now i play rc heli.. still looking foward to find huey alike..
Took me back to 1971 with First Cav. Those Cobras were bad asses, and I was amazed the way they handled plus the weapons systems were very effective. A very intimidating aircraft, predecessor to the AH-64 Apache now in service.
awesome my area's national guard is preparing to go to war, and 2 cobras were flying a triangle formation behind a huey as an escort and they flew around my house for hours
WILD RIDE?! Hah! Try a ride w/ the fuselage below the treeline and the blades above the treeline roaring down a road....at night...with NVGs on...woohoo!!!
@frequentfiler das right, they need to have a few guys hide below some were and have them shoot some a-k 47 rounds up at them, and if thier lucky, they'll get to hear the awsome sound of a rotorblade whistling unbeleveably loud from a bullet hole in it,anyway,a halla out to my boys from 388th air recovery, soc tran v.n. 1-67 1-69 hhhhhhhoooooooooaaaaaa
i hate to say it...i love the cobra and apache helicopters but my all time favorite is the comanche

Wild Ride? You get 3 stars for the misleading title, this was more about the Cobra as well. Good video on its own though.
