  • do you make bucyrus erie parts to ?

  • Yes I can, if I have a drawing, dimensions, or the original part. I also made new bushings and a shaft for the walking beam on my speedstar 55 machine.

  • what is the shaft for that you are making ?

    what make of rig ?

  • This shaft is the guide that goes in the center of the shock mounted on top of the mast. Rig is a speedstar 55.

  • just out of curiosity what speed and feed is it running at?

  • Speed at 300 rpm which is the top rpm for this lathe, I don't remember what feed I had set, but I didn't have much to take off so I took 40 thou on the first cut to see what kind of finish I'd get with the feed I had set...

  • puffing like a SMOKESTACK!

    Did you use lube?

  • No lube, it's just the oil on the raw finish of the round stock. Some round stock has a protective coating of oil put on it to keep it from rusting.

  • I thought the smoke was from a lack of lube.
