Apophis is actually not a god in Egyptian religion. That statement would have been considered absolute blasphemy. Apophis is actually the ultimate demon and enemy of the gods, the total embodiment of chaos and evil.

@HorusNikopol Well considering Apophis is a Goa`uld and Goa`uld are CLEARLY shown as EVIL FALSE GODS with FEW exceptions , I don`t see MANY self-respecting Egyptians gettin` worked up about it !

Well, probably because Ancient Egyptian religion has been dead for about 1.500 years and they are all muslims now who consider the old gods evil as well. And wouldn't know the difference either, for that matter.
