i think mix is perfect, what you ear in youtube is different of what you ear at sxsw live sound system besides mr. scracht is magic, nothing goes wrong........
His "proper" band are fantastic (more of a a loose rosta I think tho) - I've done some work with them. They know the music in their souls, not like this bunch of session players. Lee is always great anyway, so it's easy enough not to pay too much attention to the musicians here.
as long as the band feels it doesn't matter whether they're metals or punks dude. one love remember? check the band of matisyahu and himself as well, are they rasta? aren't they allowed to play such tunes? music makes da unity membaaa! bless fe de i dem !
I'm interested in learning more about the Rastafarian religon and lifestyle. Would anyone know where I should start reading or studying? please help me get involed in this great religion.
Check out a book "The Rastafarians" by Leonard E Barrett for the basic history. Rasta is a culture and state of mind. Not neccesarily just a religion and or lifestyle.
Wake up felow brothers & sisters ... Lee is a Legend give him some RESPECT ! this song is NOT called Dub is a Weapon. It's real name is Secret Labaratory... peace & love to you all.
Was in OH at time of this wicked show. Wish I coulda been there. DIAW kicks ass. And King Perry wicked man, wicked. Big Up to all a them for working in a togetherness style. LIve UP!
Also I play jazz-so please everyone before you pass judgement-can you play an instrument? -have you had radio airplay?-have you done a tour? -have you opened for a national act?
I have done all of these things-and I respect Dub as a Weapon. So think before you speak!
Why do you bother arguing with these simply internet people? They're never going to, "get it," and will simply continue in their ignorance until they die. You're wasting your time and breath.
Dub is a weapon is cool-people need to realize color does not make a musician know how to play riddims-it's having the vibe and the soul-i have been playing reggae guitar for many years and it is listening and playing that has helped me to play the music although i am not from Jamaica

The band does not match his style at all!
Looks like an attempt to reach larger "audiences" by bringing a bunch of white rock musicians that probably have not even listened to classic reggae or dub.
Uhh..this video was brought to you by DirecTV.Channel 101.I saw this tour in Philly too.I think it was The World Cafe at 31st and Walnut.Listen to that sax!Lee Perry can come back to Philly anytime he wants.I hope soon.
I saw this tour in Philadelphia.2007.The lady playing the sax is super talented and conga player was also a nice compliment to the band.I shook Mr.Perry's hand which to me was a highlight.I've been listening to Mr.Perry since 1986.Some fav's for which I suggest to anyone who is just getting into him.Super Ape,Scratch Attack the Blackboard Jungle collection.
I think the talent/genius is summed up in the phrase, utilized in many songs that night: scooby doobie doobie I love you, doobie doobie doobie doobie doo! jesus is black. la la la la la la la la perry, doobie doobie doobie perry!
Lee Perry's the shit, that band is awesome, and that sax player is sexy as hell. Wish I lived in Philly

Lee Perry looks like a wondering prostitute without a direction. If he just shut up and let the musicians play he would of had a better show.

the mix is wrong, in a dub mix the bass must be much more "in your face" and not in the background like the engineer did here.....
u guess the soundengineer is a rock guy and mixed like he always does....

That is dub is a weapon they perform all through new york get the real meaning of reggae music and shut up
ellsworth78 3 years ago 3
What is real meaning of reggae? Lol
I have most of Lee Perry's work
and by far his earlier works are the best.
This band does not capture ANY of that magic (or any new magic),
even though "they perform all through new york".
