@RoboCane gee! it wasn't THAT long ago.i grew up in that time when stuff like this was played in clubs, and am i not only alive,i'm wrinkle free! again,we're not talking about the big band era or nothing.
@RoboCane Really that they are full of wrinkles or dead my mom was born in 69 and she was a child in the 70s a teen in the 80s and shes only 42 now that is not old and these ladies must be in their late 50s or early 60s the would be like Liza Minnelli's age or younger I doubt that most of them would be dead now people who did the Charleston now they would be full of wrinkles or dead not the hustle.
history on the development of this song was it was originally called "Try the Hustle" with corresponding whispered call outs, but McCoy being a demanding SOB that he was...insisted that it change to "Do the Hustle!" and the whispers were changed to yell outs....
disco brought white people and black people together in the late 70s. That's what I notice. Then in the 80s after the anti-disco movement things were getting racial and were divided again.
IF YOU NOTICE THIS and actually CHECK IT OUT then THANK YOU.
My best friend, who died, use to say, ”Mark, even if I don’t feel good, God is good”. He told me that even though he was dying, he was never happier in his life--always praising God, always talking about God with me. Only God can do that. His name was Ron Williams. I wrote a song about this entitled--GOD IS GOOD EVEN IF; Just type: mark behrens (for the search)--God bless.
@UROGOWENS And still amazes me how many people HATED this music back in the day....mostly people who couldn't dance I guess because the clubs were fun.
come on everyone, stop saying music is dead or crap. it is not. it has simply evolved, just like the rest of the world has evolved. do you remember when you were teenagers? i would bet that your parents complained about disco and rock being "vulgar" and "the devil's music". the only reason you don't like today's music is because you grew up listening to this music, it reminds you of a simpler, funner time. now, please stop complaining and let my generation do the same as you did. thank you :)
Lawd... have mercy...If i had the money to open a club, it would be disco. Disco didn't die it just stop being promoted for the new era music and my generation died. ( The day the music died). This generation would come like nothing you ever seen along with their mothers and fathers and grands.
disco pretty much came to an end with Disco Demolition Night at a Chicago White Sox game in 1979...it was on the decline before that...every idiot and his brother started to release disco music...pure disco took a back seat to the junk that was being released.
@TheRealBluegixxxer One dy i'll look them up, but i can't say i've heard of them before. maybe hodgy beats...ive heard his name, but not any of his songs that i know of.
@rl41 Eh, to all, haha It's funny that my one comment started a massive thing....Cause I did not plan that! Anyway, i do agree with John22133, when you said his early stuff was good, cause it was good, I liked it.
I played high school football in the 70's and this song always played at our home games. It pumped up the crowd and our team also. We could eat nails after hearing this tune.
@MichaelLawlorRojas Yeah, great times and looking at this video, people were skinny back then. We just had the attitude and swagger of "winners" The other thing we had was our band travelled with us on road games. We went to Houston to play some wimpy team and our band in the bleachers is playing "25 or 6 to 4" except the cheering section was singing "45 or 6 to nothing" meaning what they expected the score to be. It actually ended up being 58-0; us winning. Defense made 4 of the touchdowns.
@MrJoshepic It is something we should investigate. We could start disco channels here on YouTube, that is a start. If we want to re-kindle the first in disco music, let it start with us. I am down with it, and I will start mine next week. Stay tuned.
@MrJoshepic because music will never stop evolving. Sure i'm 17 and I can see how this was good, fun music in it's day. Just the same way I look at R&R today. But now the new generations music is electronic like dubstep and house. Calling today's music crap is being ignorant because music is always getting better, give some of the "CRAP WE CALL MUSIC" a try and you might like a few songs
@Seplechura music was about feeling good and play some thing that made people feel. do a feeling of wanting to rape something while driving at high speeds, dong a drive by while on crack. music as gone do hill as half the people you call singers could not sing if there life depended on it. they are just rapped right, bright enough and you young people go crazy.
