  • Very helpful and informative! :)

  • @EvelinaWaara Thank, so glad you enjoyed. ◦◕‿◕◦

    facebook/wildsidenailz

  • Awesome video hun i def subbed.

i will now def stay away from primer now i know it is bad

thank you so much for this video very helpful :)

  • @Datboricuamami85 You are most welcome. Bear in mind primer is not as much bad as it is not needed. Long term use can definitely cause problems, but the most important thing to remember is NEVER ALLOW PRIMER TO TOUCH SKIN. Primer is no longer needed when using high quality professional products. Thanks for watching. ◦◕‿◕◦

  • Wow! Love the info., good to know. I hope you keep posting more video's like this. Thanks!

  • @crocha11 You bet I will! Thanks so much for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed. ◦◕‿◕◦

  • See when I went to the salon they didn't do any of this jus started putting the tips and acrylic

  • @dimplezcutec I'm glad you survived with your health and finger nails intact. Now you know what to look for in a safe salon. Thanks for watching. Be sure to visit me on Facebook: facebook dot com slash wildsidenailz. ◦◕‿◕◦

  • Thank you so much for your video!! (: I've never gotten acrylic overlay and i didn't even know what it was--I've only gotten my tips done, so this was VERY helpful && informative hehehe (: Thanks!

  • @seleru2008 Overlays are when the acrylic or gel is applied over tips.

You are so very welcome, I'm very glad I could help. Be sure to visit me on FaceBook for lots

of design idea photos, and tips. Facebook: "wildSide Nailz." ◦◕‿◕◦

  • When would you use antiseptic before or after the cuticle remover?

  • @spicym0 After cutucle remover skin and nails must be scrubed real good with soap and water, to remove ALL traces... so sanitize after, sanitizer will also help dehydrate the nail plate. ◦◕‿◕◦

  • Great video! So I have been using CND products but the have like no color powder selection other than the basic Pink, white and clear is there any brand you would recommend for me? I need more colors! And would I still be able to use the brand you would recommend with CND? Thank you

  • @spicym0 Or would it be better just to switch brands?

  • @spicym0 youtube is acting all screwy today, I couldn't post more than a sentence, so I sent you a message.

  • jUST SHOWING MY GIRL SOME LOVE. HEYYY!!!!! GREAT VID :)

  • @decorator1 Hey girl, how's my favorite Diva? The salon seems to be coming along nicely--love the lamps.

    Love back atcha. ♥ ◦◕‿◕◦

  • @LadyNailz lol to help them grow i have always had terribley bandy nails so if i do an acrylic overlay the way you taught me they should have the strength to grow past my fingertips :)

  • @alibugbug Yes, an acrylic overlay can stop the nail from breaking. I know how that is, my nails never seem to grow until I'm wearing acrylic. Go figure. ◦◕‿◕◦ Thanks for watching.

  • hello you talented lady i was wondering if i could use my sally hansen maximum growth nail treatment as a base to this? it never lifts when i apply it to completley clean bare nails and it helps with the health of my nails also i dont use tips i just do an overlay of clear acrylic

  • @alibugbug I misread what you were asking, so I deleted my respond so as not to confuse anyone. If you’re asking if you can use the SH product beneath acrylic… no, that will not work. You cannot apply acrylic over any product but primer. It will yellow the acrylic and not adhere to the natural nail plate. If you have trouble with acrylic lifting, use acetone for a dehydrator. I hope this help, sorry for the misunderstanding.

  • All the salons I used to go to always buffed and used primer on my nails even the ones that cost upwards of $80 for a full set of pink and whites. The cheaper ones never even bothered to do my cuticles. Thank you so much for your videos. I appreciate learning and will discontinue use of my primer and buffing based on your information.

  • @netfullofshells Good for you girl, you're headed in the right direction. Anything I can do to help.

    ◦◕‿◕◦

  • great vid thankyou ive been having problems with lifiting im goin to try everything you did xxx

  • @cazz147 Thank you kindly. If you need additional help, don't hesitate to ask. ◦◕‿◕◦

  • What product did you use to dehydrate the nail?

  • I read through and found the information. Thanks again for the video. I am just starting out and this is actually like a GOLD mine for me to find. I have always felt like there was a way to apply acrylic with out damaging the nails bed so bad. I will see where your video takes me!

  • @mzdiva501 I felt the same almost 20 years ago. It's why I stuck with the classic acrylic lines, knowing they would catch up with the times eventually. The advanced formulas are there, now I just gotta get the techs to apply the advanced methods. If you're just starting out, then you're already off to a great start with my videos. I'm here to help anytime you need. Good luck. ◦◕‿◕◦

  • Hey LadyNailz, I was just wondering what product you use? I enjoyed the video! Keep up the great work! Shake the haters off!

  • @mzdiva501 Aw, you're a sweetie. Lol, naw, I don't sweat the haters, even they watch my videos and learn from me. So its all good. But I concentrate my efforts on people like you--my reason for doing what I do. Currently I use NSI's acrylic line, it's great! But I'm also using Organic and Artisian for inlaid and 3-D nail art. Artisian isn't too great, but usable. Organic is awesome. Thanks so much for your support, it means a lot. ◦◕‿◕◦

  • Every Salon I have went to uses primer and takes the shine off your nails, if they are professionals they shouldn't me doing that. (really don't understand then why they are in business) I think your the only one I've seen doing that I love that but, I bet it's hard....

  • @ERNESTINEAPODACA Pt.1

Using primer isn’t illegal, but it is reckless if nail techs are using it when they don’t have to. It’s very damaging, even the acid free—acid free doesn’t mean damage free. If a nail tech is using quality advanced products, applying advanced application techniques, then primer & “roughing up” the nail plate is NOT necessary. Also, not every nail tech can do what I do. It certainly takes practice to go primer & etching free.

  • @ERNESTINEAPODACA Pt.2 But any tech with a desire to provide safer enhancements for their clients with less “after damage” to the natural nail, as well as a safer working environment for herself, will go the extra mile to learn. I provide the videos showing anyone who’s interested exactly how I go primer & etching free. It’s NOT hard, it only takes practice. Thank you for watching, I hope you enjoyed. ◦◕‿◕◦

  • i really like ur vid. i do most of the steps like u exept when dehydrating i dont use the lint wipe.....i use the dehydrator that comes in a nail polish bottle and i just brush it on.......is it the samething???or do u recomment the wiping one instead??

  • @Wbunny13 Hi there, so glad to hear you take your nail care seriously. Kudos to you future pro!

Using a brush on dehydrator is ok, it just won’t remove the traces of oils that get left behind on the nail plate. Using a lint free wipe ensures trace oil removal, and the “scrubbing” motion of the wipes help to work the dehydrator deep into the nail plate for the best product adhesion. Thanks so much for watching. ◦◕‿◕◦

  • @Wbunny13 Oh, and I forgot to add... if you decide to start using wipes, you don't have to change products, just tip the bottle of your brand onto a wipe. : )

  • So you do not file/blend the tip into the real nail like most asian shops do? Looking at alot of these nail videos I see some ppl don't do this either, and it's starting to make me see how WRONG alot of shops in my area do nails.

  • @Ms1Dominicana To etch the nail is a personal choice. Once upon a time it might have been needed, but with today’s advanced acrylic formulas, and proper application—destroying the natural nail for enhancements in NOT needed! The tip line also doesn’t need to be blended, it’s a choice. But only if it can be done without ever filing on the natural nail. Sadly there are too many salons causing damage to nails, rather than keep up with the times & technology. Thanks for commenting. : )

  • do you take the same steps when doing re-fills???

  • @loveHuera81 Yes. The prep is the same for a rebase. : )

  • and isn't it best to apply a little clear before the colored acrylic to prevent the nail getting stained??????

  • @luisbalma I have never heard of acrylic staining the nail plate?... I'm not sure if that's even possible. Why? Does Organic stain? However, if it is possible to stain the plate... that sounds like too much monomer being used. Use a drier bead consistency and that should fix that problem.

  • @LadyNailz well i dont know! i have never staind a nail, but i dot get people asking me to use color acrylic on the hole nail but i have seen that when people use colors like black, red, yellow, blue like really vibrant colors the first apply a very thin layer of clear to avoid it! you know like when you use polish you first use basecoats?!!?

  • @luisbalma I have never had that problem, but if I ever do... thanks for the tip. : )

  • Ok i have a couple of questions!!! yaaay!! FROM MEE!!! YES!!! I notice you do it like this, cuticle remover, wash hands, tip application, dehydration and acrylic application... wouldnt you like to first dehadrat the nail plate before applying the tips??????? and that you are lefty!!!! and if by a chance you get lifting i know you dont BUT if you did what whould YOU do?????

  • @luisbalma No. Dehydrating the nail plate isn’t necessary just to tip. Its glue, it sticks to everything but oil. Yes, I am left handed. If I had a problem with lifting? Hm, never had to think about that. I guess I might switch to a better product and if that didn’t work, I might have no choice but to use primer. But I shudder to think. : )

  • @LadyNailz well i dont mean just getting lifting on a daily basis i meant with a specific client if you have a finger that has a corner lifted what do you do or what would you do at the moment of the service??

  • @luisbalma I would just clip the lifting corner, and fill in with

    acrylic. : )

  • @LadyNailz ok yeah!

  • You must use a primer free acrylic system? Cause even many quality products requiers primer. And u must be really careful when choosing products cause this may be even worse when not using primer when the product requers it. Also in many primer free systems the primer is already inside the product. It brings a question in my mind - what is quality product?

By the way. I love your work. You are doing great!

  • @Navitrolla No, I use NSI’s Attraction line, and they advocate primer use.

Using primer is a choice, a safety issue with me. So I choose not to use it. I can get no lift nails without it. It doesn’t change the acrylic products in any way, its just that not everyone has the skill in acrylic application to go without primer. That’s why I’m trying to teach people NOT to use primer as a crutch. Perfect your acrylic application, and anyone can do no lift nails. Thanks for commenting. : )

  • Thanks so much for this Video.... I am a Licensed Nail Tech in the state of Nm and this information has truly helped me.... I love nsi products and I see you use them, even without the acid free primer... I am a newbie to Nails only been licensed for 5 months.... and you taught me something today that will truly help me in my Profession...... And i thought i knew what I needed to know and you Proved me wrong.... I was told in school always file the nail and use primer..... Thanks :0)

  • @NailzbyMel Whether or not you use primer or file on the natural nail is up to you. Good for you for wanting to advance yourself. I'm providing the facts, and the proof that those steps are not necessary. They are damaging to your nails, and should be avoided. However, without proper acrylic application, and quality products... you won't be able to go without primer or etching the nail plate. I'm glad I can be of you help to you. Thanks for watching. : )

  • My only complaint about this video is you leaving out the removal of shine from the nail plate. You say not to "file" the nail at all and that advanced acrylic systems don't need it. However, CND teaches the removal of shine with a 240 hand file. It's part of their acronym P.R.E.P. (Perform a manicure, Remove shine, Eliminate surface contaminants, Purify the nail layers.)

  • @cathii316 Like I said in the video, I can’t wait for companies to catch up with their own technology. People can chose to stay behind and wait for CND to start living up to their own hype, or people can choose to move ahead into the 21st century, and stop destroying their nails for the sake of acrylic. It is IMPOSSIBLE to properly prep the nails, and still have a shine left behind. Dehydration is the opposite of shiny. Thanks so much for watching and your comments. : )

  • @LadyNailz i dont like buffing my nails before i put acrylic on it..because it ruined my nails after i remove the acrylic..

  • @cassey05 Good for you. It's not needed. But don't deny yourself a delicious oil buffing at least 1-2 times a week. Makes blood flow to the nail plate and wonderful things happen from there. Thank you so much for watching. : )

  • @LadyNailz what do you mean by oil buffing..? i only did acrylic application of my nails 2 times, the 2nd time i was so lazy to take it off slowly, i just peeled it then filed it, never thought i wans filing my real nails...it damaged a lot and always breaks, but now is growing back to normal..they are long now after months of waiting for them to grow back again..

  • @cassey05 Buffing is not the same as filing. Buffing is when a super fine grit buffer (usually a block buffer) is used to smooth out the nail plate. Add a few drops of oil to eponychium, and buff until smooth. This procedure should be done with or without enhancements. But I'll get to this very subject in my upcoming video. : )

  • @cathii316 I do too. All we can do is network, and help bring awareness to the problems and misconceptions surrounding nail care, both natural and enhanced. I encourage everyone to spread the word about my videos. They do not have to be subscribers, I love my subbies, but my help extends to everyone. The more the videos are talked about, and favorited, and comments left... the more people will find us. Thanks so much for your support. : )

  • very kool.. i am in school right now to be a nail tech.. only 72 more class hours and a few more services. i love the way you explained everything thru out the vid.. and might i add that you are very good for doing those nails with the length of your own!!! I'M SUBBED

  • @almondbrown09 Awesome! 72 more to go? good luck to you, I wish you all the best. You be sure and let me know how you do on your state exams, ok?. So glad you enjoyed the video. : )

  • i loveeeeeee the curve on ur nails!!

  • @TOYTOY562 Thanks Diva. I've had this shape for over 20-years, but after this video was made I switched to un-arched really narrow nail. I'm not sure about it... I just don't think stiletto type shapes (narrow) look real good on chubby little fingers. So I may go back to my regular shape. Thanks so much for watching. : )

  • awesome video hun!!..so glad i havent used acrylics on my natural nails now..lol .As you know im still learning and will continue to practice on fake nails till i know i can apply correctly and only then will i consider trying it on real nails!..saving this to my favorites! and thank you so much for sharing this!!..hopefully alot of people can learn from this! <3

  • @madamluck Aw thanks. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I hope these videos help everyone who wants to learn. With all the advanced products out there, and new methods of application, there is no excuse for anyone to still be doing it incorrectly. Certainly no excuse for the damage they'll cause. Thanks for watching and for your support. : )

  • yes, I totally agree with you in everything. It's frustrating to watch all those that don't know anything about nails trying to do tutorials using kiss kits and such, not even knowing what they are talking about... I'm not a professional but i have been doing my nails for over a year (also use nsi :D) now so i can say that, dispite, i am well trained. i do everything exactly the way you do and absolutely never get lifting, plus my nails are still perfectly healthy, even stronger than before :)

  • @xxxmindblockxxx Good for you. It's comforting to know there are

some people who take their nail care seriously. Kudos to you for understanding the importance of it. Thank you so much for watching. : )

  • Yay LadyNailz love the new videos, It's me Alana! Well i see you're still doing awesome things. : ) Love the videos. I got your message talk to you soon. Continue to be blessed : )

  • @decorator1 Hey girl, long time no... uhh, type? lol. Write me I wanna hear all about your NEW SALON!!!!!!! Now who's blessed. : )

  • this is so awsome I can't believe you take the time to help people like this.

  • This go direct to my favorite list, i will try it! And only 30 minute to apply all 10 nails...wow...Awesome!

  • @dovlecel21 Oh, I hope this works for you. It's so much quicker than the method they teach in school. Unfortunately, while in school you gotta do it the way they teach you, because that's the order you will be scored on during your state exams. But once you graduate, whatever tecnique you use to apply acrylic is your business. But do let me know how it works for you. Thanks for watching. : )

  • i think people that make the nail vids on youtube are just trying to be helpful to others even tho they may not be doing it the "right" way..lol. maybe they will come across the right video ..

  • @cunkybug I think they mean well too, I don't believe they're doing it with malice. But still, the wrong way is going to hurt someone or cause serious damage to someone's nails. I hope everyone finds the right videos to learn from. I'm giving them the insight to know and understand the difference. Thank so much for watching. : )

  • @VietDiva94 Then I say 5 stars for your aunt! Only a skilled tech knows how to make acrylic stick without the use of nail damaging primer. Thank you for watching. : )

  • whats your opinion on tammy taylor products?

  • @cunkybug My personal opinion is: Tammy Taylor products

are extremely over priced. You're paying for the name. The actual product quality is average. TT acrylic lines are NO better than CND or NSI, but they cost twice the price... you're only paying for the glorified reputation. Thank you for watching. : )

  • Loved This ! This is really a great educational video and I am so glad that you made it. Everyone will be able to learn from this. And is that a light purple acrylic i see you using? /cough cough hehehe. Off to see part 2 now :0)

  • @TheNailDutchess Thanks girlfriend. I'm so glad you enjoyed it too. And yes, that is a custom purple glitter mix from my private stock. lol. I thank you for watching too. : )

  • OPpHello thanks so much for this video, I saw that you didnt take the shine away before glue in the tip, is that what you did? If im rigth it makes me think that all the nail salons I went do file your nails and worst yet with the nail drill!

  • @multicolorednails You saw correctly. I do nails the safest way possible to ensure the health of both my clients and myself. NEVER should anyone file if it’s not absolutely necessary, and RARELY is it necessary to file on the natural nail—never with a drill! Keep in mind cheap discount salons do not care for their clients wellbeing, they care about the money. Stick with reputable salons, with state sanitation practices. Thanks for watching.

  • Hello thanks so much for this video, I saw that you didnt take the shine away before glue in the tip, is that what you did? If im rigth it makes me think that all the nail salons I went do file your nails and worst yet with the nail drill!

  • While I was in school primer was given to us in our kit, however, throughout the school year we were urged to go w/o it. I have gotten use to using it even though when i use to go to many nail shops they would still use this so it's obviously being taught somewhere to do it this way. I'm with you on using products from big box companies. I was taught on EzFlow and have loved the product until more recently. I'm looking to try something different so if you have any suggestions please inbox me ty.

  • @AmourInfinity Your right, it is still being taught in schools—sadly. That might have a lot to do with the quality of teachers employed at these schools. If they’re not teaching the students how to properly apply acrylic, then of course they’re going to encourage the use of primer. It’s a lot easier than taking the time to teach them right. CND, NSI & IBD all have great acrylic lines you could try. Thank you for commenting. : )

  • hi LadyNailz i LOVE nails, and i want to be a nail tech sooo bad but being in college and having 2 jobs is not having that happen! I want to learn how to do acrylics so bad and i appreciate your video soooo much!! quick question... do you cut the nail to the desired length before you apply it and than file.. or cut first if they want them really short!!?! thank you so much!

  • @moomoofarm64 Tips can be cut before you apply them or after. After is easier in the sense that if you didn’t cut enough, you have to go back and do it again. If you cut after you apply them, then you have a clear view of what length you want them to be. And don’t give up your dream, where there is a will there is a way. And I know you’ll find it. Thanks for watching. : )

  • Thank you so much for making this video!!!!!!!

  • @QueenofPInk101 If I can help one person, then I am glad to have done it. Thank you for watching. : )

  • It's refreshing to see someone with new techniques and using the same products as me. Though it has left me extremely confused. I'm not doubting what you say , but even when Rise', the head of NSI education, demonstrated to me, she said to prime and remove the shine. Do nail companies say to use primer just to have another product to sell? On another note, I was initially taught using NSI spa range. Do you have any experience with that and willing to do a video? Thanks for a great vid!

  • @missfiresprite The manufactures of acrylic product lines work hard to come up with safer, better adhering formulas, but this is still a business. And the almighty dollar rules all. Yes, I am sad to say that the advocacy and sale of acrylic primer is more about money, than need. I have no monetary gain in what I do, so I can freely speak the truth. Primer is so very bad for nails. Over a period of time it WILL destroy your nails—ESPECIALLY abusing it the way so many are.

  • @missfiresprite My apologies, but I haven’t used NSI’s Spa Range. I use the Attraction line. I forgot to mention in 2009 Star Nails came out with “Nail Evolution,” a maximum bonding acrylic line that requires NO primer, and guaranteed not to lift. I see some companies are slowly starting to come around. Its nice knowing there’s at least one company out there looking to the future of this industry without dollar signs in their eyes. Thanks so much for your comments. : )

  • love this video n ur pink nails :)

  • @melbeautynails Aw, how sweet, thank you. And thanks so much for watching too, glad you enjoyed. : )

  • @LadyNailz always too

  • I AGREE 100% LadyNailz!! I'm a licensed nail tech and there is a reason we need to be licensed to do nail services!! It makes me cringe to see what some girls are doing to their nails!!

  • @Makeup409 I know exactly what you mean, and it just makes me ask over and over: "what are you thinking?" But that's why I started these videos. As "tools" for anyone with a love for nails. Even without a license, they can learn to properly care for their nails, without all the damage, product mixing, and incorrect methods. Thank you so much for your support, and taking the time to watch. : )

  • so no removing the shine from the nail. Thanks

  • @SuperSanchez21 If the nail is properly dehydrated, there is no shine. : )

    Thank you for watching.

  • LadyNailz, I didn't see that Doug says not to use primers, so are they really necessary? Another thing I just noticed is that you didn't use any, but I do, at times, and other times I forget, but never had a problem. What say you?

  • @HusbandandWifeShow Actually, I’m not real sure what Doug’s take on primer is. I guess I never thought to ask. Primer is the worst thing to put on your nails. I’m against it because I’ve seen the damage first hand. It’s not necessary anymore. Products nowadays are too technologically advanced in adhesion to continue doing nails old school. Products are advancing and we have to change our techniques in order to keep up with them. Remember, nail damage can take its sweet time showing up. : )

  • Awesome Job! I have been waiting for this vid from you!

  • @GlitzNGlamNailz Well thank you kindly. I hope it helped you

out in some way. Thanks so much for watching, and your sweet compliments. : )

  • thanks for this!

  • @cassey05 You are welcome. : )

  • THANK YOU (^_^)

  • @pinkangell3 You are so welcome. : )

  • My teacher when i learned nails showed me the same exact way.many utubers will think that this is may wrong but i know its right coz it works good everytime for me.the only thing i do, u dont, is primer but not a big amound of it and not to the whole nail plate and i swipe the brush a bit before i apply it. What u are showing us is really helpful for those who doesnt have an idea but for the nailtechs too.I realize now that i had a really nice teacher coz she showed me everything u are showing

  • @konstansal I’d have to say, you are one of the fortunate ones. I know how the quality of an education in nail technology has dropped sharply over the years in many states. Hearing success stories like yours gives me hope for nail technicians of the future, and this industry. Thanks so much for watching. Good luck to you in your career, your teacher did you justice. : )

  • @LadyNailz Thank you so much. My teacher thinks iam a natural, coz i do nails for 6 months.this summer she went on vacation and she asked me to take care some of her clients.Seems she trust me.

I hope i will become a famous nail tech in my city like she is.

  • @konstansal Some have it and some don't... you definitely sound

like a natural. I hope for your stardom too. Good luck.. : )

  • and wat is the high quality products u reccomend since am guessing the ones in school are low?

  • @luvMY2babez I’m not recommending any specific brand. I’m not here to sell products. If you are asking me about a particular type of acrylic, I can only point you in the right direction. Each individual nail tech has to make that choice for them self. But yes, the products in school are very low quality, but are just fine when you're learning the ropes. Why waste the good stuff. Thanks for watching. : )

  • half of these girls do have licence to don nails or are in the process of getting it,its not their fault the school teaches them their way.

  • @luvMY2babez The majority of the videos I watch are posted by unlicensed people who do nails for their own enjoyment, and as a hobby.

It is the responsibility of each individual to research their own school. Not all salons are credible, and neither are all schools. They need to put their tuition money where it will best serve them. And that would be a school with an impeccable reputation. I am reaching out to those who do not already know this information. Thanks for commenting. : )

  • @luvMY2babez ...I agree with you! The only issue I have with some of them is that they really aren't prepared to receive any right/new info. Some I've spoken with only want to stick with what has be 'successful' to them and their business. LadyNailz is taking on a huge task with this info, and I highly respect her for it.

    Stay safe...

  • thank-you so much for these videos.

I got into nail art last year and many people have asked me to put acrylic on their nails. I refused because I knew nothing of acrylic and after seeing your videos, I am even more happy to see that I made the right choice.

  • @sweetbabiescake With a little bit of practice and learning, you could very easily apply a set to someone else. Don't give up if it's something you'd like to do. Thanks so much for watching. : )

  • thanks so much again!! I will do every step! :)

  • @fashionjewelrybox Anytime! So glad I could help. : )
