I have this phone, just got it on Sat. and I love it. I dnt pay a data plan bought it from my aunt n uncle for $20 and it rocks! free wifi. all you have to do is block the data.

i have this phone, after 6 months it gets laggy, and me and a couple of other people have been noticing dust under the screen (to the point where you cant read the text). and another is i experience dropped calls 24/7, idk if its with AT&T or this phone.I cannot wait to get my iphone 4 upgrade in July.

yes it does.. sometimes it doesn't when the light sensor detects that there is adequate light. It only lights up when it is dark

If I were you, I would strongly consider the Nokia. I was in the SAME exact situation as you! That was until I did some research and used them both. The only thing I liked better with the Jack was the keyboard size for my big (fat, lol) hands. But overall, the Nokia hardware performed better for what I need. The Jack does look GREAT, though. tough choice.

It looks like a cut down version of the E71 which has a lit keyboard. the centerbutton on the e71 also blinks like the top light of a blackberry, but the e71x doesn't. This is probably a phone I would onnly buy if I didn't have the money for something better.

I have this phone- the e71x. Not sure why you think the keyboard isnt lit- it is. And the light does blink when you receive a msg, call, anything. it is high quality. i have tried every phone at&t offers, and this - is - it.

The Nokia E71x is $99.99 US if you sign a new two-year contract. You can choose to do so now and your existing contract will be made void.

I think that's a really good price considering you're not forced to purchase a data plan and the E71 retails for over $300 US new and unlocked.

HA! In that case, it's prob better to go the way of unlocked coupled with their $15/month plan. I hope America surprises me and makes this phone a hit much like everywhere else in the world.

For some reason, people are so attached to Blackberry. I find the UI to be terrible, so I'm assuming everyone loves it due to familiarity. Which would mean that S60 is doomed here.

I'm back and forth on whether or not to get the E71x or an unlocked phone. Maybe the E75 when it drops in price.

My recommendation is to sign a new contract, get a free phone, sell the phone, and buy an E71 new/unlocked. Amazon is currently selling them for $320 US w/ free shipping and they're the US versions because they have 3G.

New E71x with 2-year contract and $30/month data plan= $819.99 before tax and that's not counting how much you pay for minutes.

2-year contract and New E71x new/unlocked with $15/month data plan and the profit from selling the free phone< $680 before tax and minutes.

To get rid of it quick, you can simply dump it on Craigslist but to get your money's worth, you would need to unlock it and sell it on Ebay.

It's funny that the US is getting E71 when Europe is getting the slimmer, sexier E75. Anyways, Americans will be overwhelmed by S60. They're too familiar with iPhone OS (for dummies) and Blackberry OS (shit, and the trackball is dumb as well). The majority of people in the US with smartphones don't use them for business. They're used as status symbols and toys.
